Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

My two cents: Any kind of engineering on an Artemis suit is a complete waste of time and materials. You're never outside long enough to justify any of it. What's more, you can run lights in the open when you're exploring, so there's no need for any night vision or anything of that nature.
I'm not sure.. I'm trying an engineered Artemis for the spire sites. But then again I'm set with mats and more or less done with on foot engineering, so anything new that I engineer is just for fun and because I can.

Am I the only one that still uses an SRV for this kind of stuff? 🚙
Nope. I've always used mine, which is why the suit needs zero engineering.

I drive up to a sample, jump out, scan, jump in, drive to the next sample. It takes me longer getting in and out of the SRV most times than it does to take the sample. I can't imagine why anybody would need anything on an Artemis suit at all; unless, as @Jack Winter mentioned, he's flush with materials and doing it for lack of anything better to do.

Well if all you do is jump out of the srv to scan you probably wouldn't appreciate engineering the Artemis. Still adding increased battery, sprint, jump and nv could be interesting to other players roaming planetary surfaces in a different manner to yours. Personally I don't even bother with the SRV for salad scanning, I just land my imperial Courier and jump out to scan, then back into the ship and hop to the next sample.. :)

I just looked around the bubble an purchased a suit with improved jump, makes a huge difference, not engineered a suit or weapon yet and most of mine have mods on them. I rarely use SRV either, but sometimes I just enjoy driving around so there's that!

There is that "I wonder what's over that next hill?" sense of exploration. Normally, though, it's "Oh, another hill and some plains". * Which, actually, would be quite correct in (probably) the case of nearly all planets in the galaxy. I mean, not every single one would have a Raxxlan stronghold on it...

* Cynical? Moi?

My experience is slightly different. Behind that hill, a giant crater opens up. Or a labyrinth of canyons. Sometimes, there might be a plain behind it...
And every once in a while, a planetary body rises over the horizon. Which can be quite awesome to watch.

No, that's for sure. But you might find some Guardian ruins or some Thargoid superstructure.

You? No way.

Yep, absolutely - exploration, if one is really up for and into it, involves quite a bit of flying, driving and running around, ie: exploring… It’s the kind of thing one can get blissfully lost in for hours if one will just let one’s self go a bit… not all gaming is high-gear action by any means - i still have a bit of a taste for the latter (often with beer & pizza on a Friday night^), but can also happily lose myself in exploration when i’m in the mood for more chilled stuff :)

Aleoida and frutexa, living together...mass hysteria!

On the subject of exploration... My LEP account is out beyond Colonia, acting as my "base" for exploring all these virgin systems.

Yes I still use a DbX for it's tight landing ability but might have a go at using a Sidewinder having in the past got annoyed at my Quattro having landing issues hunting fungus in the mountains.

The one thing though that is really spoiling the exploration "experience" for me is the awful square boxes of densely packed stars and the abrupt edges of those. It is very jarring and just spoils the whole thing so I think it is time to trek the FC to a more aesthetically pleasing under-explored area.

Hi everyone! How are you all doing?

When I explore, my methodology depends on the body I'm on.

Some are just so gorgeous and I can drive around on them for hours, especially if they have volcanic activity and materials...

Some have varied terrain, geysers, lava spouts, etc and are quite fun...

Sometimes I just happen to be there at the right time for sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset, etc ...

And many are just bland and dark, and instead of frolicking merrily, I just concentrate on sampling whatever salad exists and move on quickly...

One of my ships is a T-7 ExploMiner49er named "Clementine" with an SRV and mining lasers which allows me a variety of activity in any new system I happen to find myself in...

And sometimes, when the conditions are right, I land in the middle of several biologicals and run around in an Artemis suit for 20 minutes collecting all of them...in which case I pretend I'm Ash Ketchum...as in "gotta catch 'em all"...

Today's stumble-upon: a mere 600LY from Sol, LBN 623 is a small, purple, cone-shaped nebula which i've not seen before... :]
