I think that is true for most third-party programs available for Elite...The program tries to help.

I'm not sure.. I'm trying an engineered Artemis for the spire sites. But then again I'm set with mats and more or less done with on foot engineering, so anything new that I engineer is just for fun and because I can.My two cents: Any kind of engineering on an Artemis suit is a complete waste of time and materials. You're never outside long enough to justify any of it. What's more, you can run lights in the open when you're exploring, so there's no need for any night vision or anything of that nature.
I totally get that.so anything new that I engineer is just for fun and because I can.
No. Whilst my alt Sally and I will often use a DBx to hop between samples, there's still many times I get the Scarab out!Am I the only one that still uses an SRV for this kind of stuff?![]()
Nope. I've always used mine, which is why the suit needs zero engineering.Am I the only one that still uses an SRV for this kind of stuff?![]()
I will use the scarab for those species that have a small diversity distance. Also, there are terrains, mainly craggy mountains, that are more suited to searching via SRV as even the Dolphin would struggle to find landing.Am I the only one that still uses an SRV for this kind of stuff?![]()
Almost.Am I the only one that still uses an SRV for this kind of stuff?![]()
Well if all you do is jump out of the srv to scan you probably wouldn't appreciate engineering the Artemis. Still adding increased battery, sprint, jump and nv could be interesting to other players roaming planetary surfaces in a different manner to yours. Personally I don't even bother with the SRV for salad scanning, I just land my imperial Courier and jump out to scan, then back into the ship and hop to the next sample..Nope. I drive up to a sample, jump out, scan, jump in, drive to the next sample. It takes me longer getting in and out of the SRV most times than it does to take the sample. I can't imagine why anybody would need anything on an Artemis suit at all; unless, as @Jack Winter mentioned, he's flush with materials and doing it for lack of anything better to do.

There is that "I wonder what's over that next hill?" sense of exploration. Normally, though, it's "Oh, another hill and some plains". * Which, actually, would be quite correct in (probably) the case of nearly all planets in the galaxy. I mean, not every single one would have a Raxxlan stronghold on it...I just looked around the bubble an purchased a suit with improved jump, makes a huge difference, not engineered a suit or weapon yet and most of mine have mods on them. I rarely use SRV either, but sometimes I just enjoy driving around so there's that!
My experience is slightly different. Behind that hill, a giant crater opens up. Or a labyrinth of canyons. Sometimes, there might be a plain behind it...There is that "I wonder what's over that next hill?" sense of exploration. No, that's for sure. But you might find some Guardian ruins or some Thargoid superstructure.I mean, not every single one would have a Raxxlan stronghold on it...
You? No way.* Cynical? Moi?

And every once in a while, a planetary body rises over the horizon. Which can be quite awesome to watch.

You take off and land over 120 to 300 meters?I don't even bother with the SRV for salad scanning, I just land my imperial Courier and jump out to scan, then back into the ship and hop to the next sample
