Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Tried my first ground mission. Grab something from a wreckage, threat 2. Easy enough. Just fly there, land at marker and long range snipe 3 goons guarding the wreckage.

Tried 2nd mission, go into some settlement and retrieve some guys 'unusual entertainment media'. Threat 3, should be easy. Uhhh, I need authorisation level 1 to open the door, ok ok I shall snipe someone from far and clone his level 1. Ran far away, hid in the shadows and took a long range shot. Headshot! Instakill! I am l337! What? Instant bounty for murder. Pew pew pew, I am dead. Now I gotta take taxi and then call for my ship back.

Can you possibly pull off Skyrim style sneaky kills or is any kind of assassination gonna get you a bounty?
In the Alpha it was claimed that zapping an NPC from close range from behind with the charger set to overload was a sneak kill at that range you could try to clone the ID without killing them as well.
I've sprinkled my first real salt on the hotfix 1 thread. Hope it didn;t sound too whiny :D
You were fine.

Yes, that's what I mean. You can't engineer a grade 1 suit or weapon, it has no engineering slots.

I've already found grade 2 Artemis and Maverick suits. This might turn out to be a good time to find them, before the drop rate is nerfed.

Totally agree, doing the same thing. I mostly do combat on foot, but i intend to get my hands on all of the suits. The Maverick suit is the second most intetrsting for me. I like the dominator but i wont comment on the helmet... Maverick looks way better. Gives me more Bounty Hunter vibes than the dominator. Both visually and by utility.

And now... I have one moisannite in my ship inventory. I can transfer mutliple times to my carrier and it still says it's in my inventory - yet it increments by one each time on the carrier.

There is a Discord server where people are talking about doing this trick with Low Temperature Diamonds... I'll leave you to imagine just how many billions they have accumulated in the last few hours :)

I suspect that this will get noticed and "corrected" at some point in the very near future though.

Dangerous stuff - deliberately using exploits is in most terms of service a bannable offense. Not sure about ED, but why would they want to tolerate that, if it has the potential to derail the game economy.

I note that, at times, the graphics and game response do improve, but then I see that the game becomes slow and the graphics quality decreases. I guess it must be the servers.

Anyway, after A LOT of figuring out how to move around the station, I purchased the Artemis suit and other supplies at Shinrarta. I skipped the other suits and weapons since I focus on exploring.

Then I took the DBX to a planet with an atmosphere about 300 LY from the bubble and tested the suit and the genetic sampler.

The graphics in Odyssey are OK but can be improved. As it is, Horizons looks much better and plays flawlessly; Odyssey looks like a game from years past. The ships, stations and everything in general are lacking the detail I have seen in Horizons. By t he way, my computer does meet the requirements to run it.

Hopefully future upgrades address these issues.

I'm still downloading odyssey. I got lucky last night and popped a sustained 16.4 Mbps for a while and now i'm popping 5 Mbps with just over 2 hours (at that speed) left to finish the download. I get the occasional surge to 6.2 Mbps, and a few drops below 1 Mbps. Having your only internet access being a Hotspot sucks. But it's internet access, and sometimes, when the wind is blowing just right, I can get slightly ok speeds. I miss having 100 Mbps down speeds though. But it is what it is. With luck I'll be able to actually PLAY the game in 3 hours. Sooner than I'd expected, so not gonna complain.

In another side note, my ship cat Serena has decided she needed to hack up a massive hairball on my cockpit chair. She has now been banished to the aft stateroom.

You'll just have the updates to download when you finished with Oddessy download!! ;)

Oooh! David B posted on the boards!

Shows you how calamitous the oddity launch has been when feels he had to make a post apologising...

Yes, I thought so too. But nothing about the massive influx of new bugs and reappearance of old ones. He just talks about performance, which is of course an issue, but it's hardly the only issue. It's just one of literally hundreds.

Oh well. At least he said something. Not that it will fix anything. I still can't jump my carrier after this last hotfix. shrug

I am trying to load my carrier with tritium, I had jumped it close to an outpost that sold it just before Odyssey but now I cant do it without exploiting the billions bug.
Yeah, nothing about that bug in the latest hotfix either. Nothing about people trapped in Apex taxis either. They must be swamped over there. I'm glad I'm retired :)

Why don't you just play Horizons for now and let them get oddity into a playable state - that's what I am doing.

Go get your screenshot of SagA* for the visitors' list thread instead.
I have no option to play Horizons at all. Just the steam update.

edit This also isn't the first time steam has lost an entire download that was almost finished. I have no clue why they don't have caching of their downloads so CTD's or computer shutdowns/restarts doesn't wipe the entire progress, but I am guessing it's because traind monkey's can't figure a way to implement something everyone else already does. This is def the LAST time I buy a game on steam. I'll just go directly to the developer even though steam is usually more convenient as a warehouse of games for me. But I've had it. If I could unplug Elite from steam w/o having to redownload the entire thing, or buy it all over again, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
