Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

So I've unlocked Liz Ryder, and predictably lack mats to engineer any modules (lots of data, not so much raw/manufactured), not that she really offers anything I was after. I just don't usually unlock her at all.

I managed to knock the buy price on Silver in Eurybia down by about 5k with my tiny 14 ton hold, though with it being an Engineer system, I rather doubt i was the only one running Silver here ;)

I did rack up about 18 million more credits than I arrived with (about 3 million) - helped along by a bunch of courier missions, and a handfull of fetch missions that offered 2-5 million for commodities I could get within 1 or 2 jumps, in only 1-3 trips with my tiny cargo capacity. And given that even I can defeat the NPC Interdiction game 99% of the time, it seemed rude not to, even on the higher threat ones.

I also managed to get up to Merchant, Surveyor and Federal Recruit without really trying, so there's that, too.

So now I've hooned down to the Pleiades to off-load 10 tons of Duradrives (I had to reinstall the fuel scoop and extra fuel tankage for the trip), pick up some meta-alloys to go and unlock Farseer.

But first I'm going to summon my 'sploration Sidey, Calypso, and go scan some systems, map a few planets, sample some bio-signs, that sort of thing, before I head back to the bubble to unlock the Sirius Permit with the explo data I get.

And now, some pictures!

Hey buddy, there's a line!

As a bonus, Artemis Lodge is a 'Garden Station', so I could take some pics of the scenery inside:

There's some talk amongst Raxxla Hunters about how one or more of the Gardens might hold a clue...

Imma need more tin-foil... (tongue firmly in cheek, I love all that stuff!).
More #stellarscreenshot-worthy snaps!

Another interesting CZ just then.

Checkpoints Charlie and Echo came online but Alpha, Bravo, Delta and Foxtrot stayed off. The former were never approached by any NPC from either side.

So, it was just a matter of attrition as to which side would win. NPC's are sometimes very silly so it ended up being my team taking home the trophy. And another 23mCR in combat bonds thank very much.

That's not boring nat all.

Cool, 'cause this ones got 10 pictures!

Again, spoilered for your future scrolling convenience.

I did a bunch of Landscape Photography for the Raxxla Hunters whilst I waited for Calypso to turn up:

From the Pleiades I headed out west, vaguely towards the North American Nebula, with a DSS and an SRV (and, you know, extra fuel and a scoop) to see what was there to find.

First point of interest was a planet with 2 bio-signs, the ubiquitous bacterium and an electricae.

Cheeky photo-bombing by Codger's Rock!

A few systems further and its 3 geologicals and one bio-sign.

This one makes me half-remember an April Fools joke published in ZZap 64 Magazine waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the mid 80's.

How's them for obscure 'pop-culture' references? 🤪

tvl5.jpg

Turns out you can ZZap the cordycceps right off 'em with yer laser pistol, too!

A few planets further, I'm about 80-100 ly west of the Pleiades by now, and I find something entirely unexpected...

tvl6.jpg

Clearly, the SRV tracks showe I'm out of sequence here, lets just roll with it 😎

tvl8.jpg

Cool - they're not depleted, I can pick up that meta Alloy I came to the Pleiades for for free now!

Or possibly not...

Oh really? I've never seen one in the dark - and they're quite rare anyway.

That's one for the bucket list next time I'm exploring then...
They are quite striking in the dark and can show up at a good distance.

I've never gone salad collecting in the dark. I ought to give it it a go!
Depends on the “salad” Bacterium are even worse than in the light even the high contrast ones, some of the others don’t glow as such but are brighter than the average scenery under Night Vision, the ones that do glow though are delightful.

That said I will still tend to favour hunting in the light.

Well if they do abduct you I'll miss the screenshots. :)

Heh, not to worry, they left me behind!

tvl11.jpg

And I got out of there quick!

What happens in Tharg-vegas, stays in Tharg-vegas.

Whilst I like that green colour scheme, I might have to change it - I'm not diggin' how it looks in screen shots, particularly the darker ones.

Cool pictures, the Electricae are a sight to behold on the dark side with the bioluminescent glow they poduce.

I had no idea, I shall have to remember that next time I find an Electricae planet!
