Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Hmm. Does stratum tectonicus only come in lime?
Nope.
I think the colour depends on the star type.
It actually depends on several different factors. Star type, atmosphere and which minerals can be found on the body they grow on.
I've never seen any other colour but now you've got me thinking as to which star types it. Food for thought!
Maybe take a look at this: Exobiological Flora

I tended to completely miss patches of Tussock Cultro from the ship. I even landed in one without seeing it. I've just realised that's because they don't render at the kind of distance you can see forward from the ship and when you look down it's quite hard to spot grassy blades when you are looking along them... bacteria are "hard to see" but before they look like bacteria they look like shadows, so you do a get a clue. No clue with Cultro.

Yeah that's why the free camera is so handy, you can just hover your ships and pan around the general area with free cam from just above the surface. Many a time I have landed and walked out into a patch of grass I never even knew was there.

Except I forgot I wouldn't usually do three samples and a bunch of jumping to see over hillocks... so when I got back to the ship energy was on 9%. (I did have a cell tho)
This is why I modified my Artemis with increased battery life, increased sprint, and increased jump jet — just for those types of situations. It only matters sometimes, but when it does I’m happy to have it.

They are the mods that I am after, as soon as I find time I shall be heading to Colonia to unlock the on foot engineers there, have already obtained (purchased) the required goods for the unlocks and upgrades:)

I'm becoming really selective over which exo's I'm going for lately. Tectonicas is a given but I like grabbing recepta, electricae and clypeus. Tubas and Aleoida if I feel like a few extra CRs but I find I'm fed up with seeing the rest :D
I will sample high enough value exo’s, high enough depends on first footfall status, but I will try and spot anything if it is likely to add to my Codex completion.

Unfortunately I am me, so I have to get to a full Codex in Inner Orion Spur before I can start ignoring things... my exploration route (once I stop accidentally finding six-species planets that even have a branch of Vista on them for instant hand-in :) ) will be in the conic sector outside my Power, extended out as far as the edge of the sector, thus covering all those bases at once. And it makes it that much easier to sell it somewhere that needs some Reinforcing.

Absolutely nailed this bacterium lark now.

Found first plain, nothing doing, but I've sussed now that in any given dust bowl they are either there or they ain't, so don't spend 20 minutes hoping.

Took off, flew northeast a bit (I'd landed near sunset stupidly), found a second plain which was more of a plateau and was the paler green-blue on DSS, landed right on the edge of it so there was no chance of me accidentally driving away from the biome (because the "wrong" directions were all cliffs so I simply had to remember not to drive off any cliffs, who needs a compass?), and in the time autoland was jockeying around, I spotted one using headlook. In, out, done, and then I set off northeast having noted the plain was longest in that direction.

Waiting for 500m ping from BioInsights, raised turret, slowed down, there it is, done.

Took a risk and drove off at right angles for the next 500m leg, and that ended up being a km away anyway so I might as well have kept going the direction I was.

Got tectonicas as well and that was super easy, I landed in a basin and it was full of them, so I just went to extreme edges of the basin to get the distance.

Oops :]
