Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

With the current CGs going on, and a post in the CG thread about on-foot combat zones - how do you find on-foot combat zones involving those two parties from the CG? I know how to find space CZs, but I've never tried on-foot CZs so far.
Also - Scarab or the other one for the start of the party?
I'm not familiar with the CG, but could an Inara find nearest search help? I think, if faction is a variable, it lists that too.

As for the SRV, I'd favour the Scorpion. It's slower but tougher and has two weapons.

Mind you, I'd never drive one to a CZ again: last time I tried that, it got boiled up very quickly. I always take drop ships now, preferring that over going to the zone a picking a side.

Absolutely.

It's very easy these days to get a inventory/storage completely full very quickly.
Except for encoded mats. They still feel quite sparse. In particular the high grades.

That being said, I guess y'all vaguely remember my moaning about the precision of the DSS probes, or better, their overlay.
I now know why the companies didn't do anything about it. An independent developer was quicker than them.
In the EDHM UI's main menu, you can find an entry "3PMods (Plugins)". If you click on it, a mods manager opens. Amongst many others, there is an entry "Enhanced Biome Overlay" which, after a brief installation, allows you to set a custom color and some other stuff for the overlay. It focuses the overlay on the regions most likely to bear the bio you are looking for. It doesn't eliminate the need to search for the stuff, but you are less prone to land somewhere you definitely won't find the desired plants.

I've still not seen a faster way than Jameson's Crashed Cobra that is quicker than ever with more comms beacons. Anyone who likes to run missions for reputation (e.g. Fed/Imperial rank grind) or influence (BGS faction support), Planetary Scan missions are good. You get some high grade encoded mats for doing those just like scanning comms beacons at Jameson's Cobra. It's slow for colleting encoded mats, but a good option if you want the rep/inf anyway.

OK I must be really unobservant but this is the first time I have seen those little flying flames (yeah they were moving) when near a solar flare.

A way I've found - well, two ways actually - to bump up the encoded is to just target ships. This can be quite lucrative if do e at a CNB or sitting outside a busy station and scanning wakes

The other way is scanning the beacon at Davs Hope and targeting the ships that sometimes circle that outpost.

I haven't tried it, but I assume you'd go to a system with those factions and find a Frontline desk and join the CGs that way. I don't think there's an in-game way to search other than Frontline.

Hi All :)

Out into the wild blue yonder I go (eventually!). ;)
I'm just passing, and leaving the Coalsack region behind, heading in the general direction of Hawkins Gap. I'll be stopping off at one of my first discovered systems for a lunchtime :coffee: and do some mining.

Jack :)
That's a shockingly short post. I usually enjoy putting on my reading spectacles and smoking jacket before sitting down to read one of your tomes.
Yeah, me too actually.

The reason I have 3 accounts is that I started the game on one account, and then I wanted to do a video series about starting the game, to show some tips and such, and so I made a new account for that and started a new CMDR. This was the Codger account, and I did a rather long series on YouTube.

Eventually Codger became my main account and my first account just sat there, but it had (has) a lot of ships and money so I never reset it.

Then, later, I wanted to experience being new again, and I made a third account that I could reset now and then when I felt like it. I've reset that account a few times, just for the fun of starting over. But I haven't done that in quite a while. I've been thinking about it. I will probably eventually do that again if I get bored, heh.

Anyway, bottom line is that Codger is my main account and the other 2 are mostly idle.
I'm definitely enjoying Elite more after deleting my original account and starting fresh.

And that was before Frontier upped their game last year. It just felt more enjoyable playing the game with previous knowledge to build on.
posted on wrong thread: sorry
By the way, you can get rid of the dopey looking avatar and replace it with the in-game thing you made by changing into your regular flight suit.

aRJay pointed it out to me.

No offence if you like the dopey Odyssey version.

Elite is really pretty at times.

im on the cg collecting combat again i dont need ,lol, but going along with the lore, why not, admit im in solo as its a war between fed and empire and empire is almost attacking any player who is fed,but its game play not ganging . fair play to the players as im anti ganging on most cgs. but in the end apart from trying to build my system, run pp2 ,how can you get bored in elite,i am not about to leave the game lol 10 years in,stay with it its great, got about 60 games in my library collecting dust now,got the money back id buy another pc,lol.07.

Thanks, that worked. Did one round for each side ( after all, I'm an Independent and have no favourite in this sandbox fight except shiny cash). Can't say I like the guy at the counter, but at least they provide decent medical coverage.

I'll keep that second part in mind. Anything that keeps me from camping over night at sites like Jamesons Cobra or Dav's Hope.

It is easy to miss, as they are moving really slow. But there are a few timelapse videos out there, showcasing the legit movement of the star surface.
