Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Would I be right in surmising that there are different bios in different parts of the galaxy?
Yeah, there is some difference. However, they are not strictly categorized by sector. Nebulas and Guardian areas tend to spawn certain types, often with unique sub-types. Biological types do seems to group together in certain regions, although I'm not aware of any full-fledged survey info.

Which types you see is affected by lots of stuff, such as the body type, star type, temperature, atmosphere type, and gravity.

The best resource I've found for this is built into the Bioinsights plugin for Elite Observatory (available here --> https://edjp.colacube.net/observatory).

It has a "Codex Companion" section that allows you to drill down into the various species and get detailed info, such as this (for example):

Mmm... I've been avoiding nebulas because they tend to be popular destinations but I think I'll have to try a few and see what's there. In my recent travels I've tended to find the same three kinds of stratum, the same two tussocks, and only two different osseus but primarily the spiralis type, for example. Need to widen my horizons!

Maybe just try to zig zag your way to popular destinations. I wasn't aware of the Guardian thing either otherwise I may have done a little extra exploration during the grind.

Hi All :)

Hmm...🤔...Same goes for me here roughly speaking...I also need to broaden my bio exploration horizons!

The thing is though I'm slightly fascinated with the concept of gaining credits through multiple stacked trade missions, just to see how extreme I can get these missions to pay out. 🤑...:D... so it kinda takes up some considerable time once my 'OCD' on this point so to speak kicks in!
For example, I'm in the Rhea system presently selling off my mined Gold, Platinum, Palladium Bromellite and that luverly metal... Osmium!...which incidentally pays out substantial amounts for some of these trade missions. I've just sold off a fairly small batch of these commodities for 80 million credits within approximately the last hour, and it's still going strong at the moment. Plus when I get attacked by the npc pirates too and from my carrier that keeps topping the income up by roughly one million on each individual npc pirate I destroy.

Okay, it's not as great an income as some of those first discovered bio's you can find, but as it goes gameplay wise it's keeping that variation in gameplay at a personal level I find pretty much on the fun side, with Mining, Combat and Mission elements all rolled into one over a reasonably short (by Elite standards!) timeframe.

I also (as you all may have noticed) browse the forums usually at the same time as I'm playing, which while I'm docked at a station allows those trade missions to be re-displayed periodically for the stacking process. ;)

I visited a couple of Titan system / spots yesterday, only managed to snag one Titan Drive component before boredom kicked in ...still, I managed to also top up some engineer materials and other stuff I'd used a few months ago, so the time wasn't wasted. :)
Edit.. Total spare Titan Drive components in my carrier's hold presently is 3! 🙃

just for pointers pris shields are heavy on power and slow to charge in fact tortise slow, careful what ship you use them on apart from that congratulations 07. also heavy forgot that watch youre mass.

Ah!...that's interesting to know (y), I see various posts describing the virtues of Prismatic shields but I wasn't aware they were very slow to re-charge.

Where oh where is that never been scanned Stratum Tectonicas at?

One thing for sure is Spansh will only tell you where people have found it already. So that method is out. It's a great tool to use for finding Stratum in the Bubble. I made a billion in the Bubble at 19M each fairly quick. It's everywhere.

I did read that A,F,K,G stars are the places to check. I have a spreadsheet of all plants and it says "A" stars for Stratum Tec. However, when I set the map to show only A stars, there is hardly any, so that isn't entirely true. Found comments that it's on those 4 types so I'll give that a go today.

Currently, I'm about 4k outside the Bubble and haven't found any First Footfall Stratum. I am starting to discover new systems, several so far. Your name on a system doesn't pay the bills.

I did find the tennis racket Osseus Pumice...(First Footfall, only 15M)

I just got a First in a part of the Bubble in Power territory that has two active PMFs nearby. It's amazing what people can/can't be bothered with sometimes...

Meanwhile, here is home sweet home in that part of the Bubble, at least until the first planetside facility is finished over in my other system next door. And the eating is good now the Space Farm is finished, provided you like everything fried. Very, very fried.

It isn’t so much that they are slow when compared to standard shields on a MJ/minute basis it is more that they have many more MJ to fill up.

You get the same thing with standard and bi-weave if you have lots of Shield Boosters fitted.

I've been working on my big-rig, getting it ready to be certified for the fire season, I haven't been playing much lately. We've had some pretty big thunderstorms in the Sierra's the past couple of days, USFS and CalFire have been scrambling around staging equipment waiting for the inevitable. I hate to see it but it sure is good money, I may disappear for a bit.

That's true...I've got quite a few shield boosters fitted to my Cutter, plus Bi-Weave, takes an age to re charge. I try not to let the shields go down too much generally, though the ship's pretty much indestructible in combat with npc's. etc. (and the ground).
I haven't had a re-buy for a very long time, just a couple of costly repairs! :D

Hopefully you get a good amount of rain first for a change to dampen down all the grass and vegetation. 🙏
We're having some steady light rain over here at the moment which is needed for my garden. I can water it with mains water but natural rain is much much better. The chemicals in tap water's not very beneficial to the plants. I've got 3 water butt's in the garden collecting rain water, but they're getting a bit low.

We (in the UK) had some pretty dry periods a month or two back and some sporadic heath fires on the moors etc. Some fires started deliberately according to some news reports ...Total stupidity, I guess these sorts of people just do it for the lulz as they say, carnage though for the wildlife and flora. 😞

Okay, this morning (early) , booted up the game and as I'm already docked at Carter Port I finally sold most of my commodities in conjunction with trade missions, so I'm quite pleased. Docked again back at my carrier and noticing the time logged out of the game, to be sure I don't get caught up with the server shut down (Server maintenance & patch day today).
On that note, looks like another substantial patch with the maintenance today, so I'm not expecting the servers to be back online till at least mid morning, or nearer mid day. ;)
After reading the patch notes I may try and get the cartographics up and running at my Coriolis station, once the servers are back online, hopefully building a Scientific Outpost should get the ball rolling (reading the notes), unless I'm reading those patch notes the wrong way?....🤷‍♂️

Edit... Servers back online ready for updating. (y)

Hi All :)

Hi folks, a mini heads up that there was an error in the Update Notes that listed "Scientific Outpost" as a method for Vista Genomics. That was incorrect and we are in the process of removing it from our Update Notes pages. Apologies for any confusion that may have caused.

😖....Okay then....I'll try one of these perhaps! 🤔
  • Strong link to a Satellite Installation, Comms Installation or Relay Station
  • Scientific Installation or Exploration Hub built in system

Right, I've decided to do a new Zenith. My current one has stowed reload, headshot, mag size and stability.

I think I'll go for faster handling, greater range *, mag size and stability. Now all I need to find one already at G3 with/without the mod(s). I'll be keeping an eye on the relevant thread.

* Or maybe reload speeed

I just watched an AI generated video of a car show that had people being interviewed about their thoughts on electric vehicles. The entire thing was generated -- the huge showroom, people wandering around, various cars, and then this interviewer asking people their thoughts. I watched it, looking vainly for anything that was clearly wrong.

Nothing. The voices, the people, their faces, their reactions, the cars, the wandering people in the background, the lighting... everything seemed real to me. But none of it was real.

This is scary in a way -- we soon won't be able to believe our eyes and ears. Yikes.

But what about gaming? Will we get companions and adversaries that look genuine, to be part of our gaming worlds? Imagine jumping out of your ship and going to talk to the people in the concourse and they actually can respond? They can tell you about the mission, and explain why they need it done, etc. Stuff like that?

Part of me is worried, and part of me is excited. These are strange times, indeed.

It's on X, so I'll spoiler it.
To me, that's beyond frightening 😨. Although... the gaming part would be super cool!

I set my course for Wembaei JJ-S B4-0, roughly 33,000 light-years west of Rhea, ready for a true deep-space expedition. My Anaconda is tuned for long-range travel, hitting 80 light-year jumps with ease, making the journey swift—but I’ve been pacing myself, scanning planets along the way. I even dipped into biological research, stumbling upon bacteria for the first time, which was an interesting change of pace. With the Thargoid war now behind us, most of my recent time has been spent wiping out the Dragons of LP-726-6. Figured it was time for something different — heading into the unknown and seeing what the galaxy has to offer.

Rats.

I've sold a load of stuff I need for upgrades  😀 Now I'm visiting FC's to buy stuff and that's proving to be a bit frustrating. Stuff has either sold out or is on FC's that are not open for business.

That'll learn me!

EDIT: gave up on FC shopping. Be quicker to get them myself. Sigh.
