Ever done the jumping inside a star? A strange double jump occurs that you'd almost miss. I think this had happened to me once.
That does sound weird. What happened to your ship? Instamelt?

I returned yesterday from the Colonia trip I mentioned. 53,000 light years, took me 12 days, and unlocked the engineers there. The coronavirus has granted me more Elite time so it didn't take all that long really.
According to EDSM I got these as first-discoveries
Systems: 558
HMCs: 1276
Rocky: 957
Icy: 1032
Earth-like: 9
Water World: 76
Ammonia World: 11
If I add in the stars, gas giants and others it's a lot more. My commander name is now firmly stitched in to the galaxy![]()
Distance Flown: 53,296
Jumps: 887
Systems: 854
Scans: 6,699
Exploration Data: 536 million
Of course this only reflects data submitted to EDSM and there's a chance some of these were not first-disoveries, and some that are not here, are. It cannot be accurate in every case, but I feel it's close enough.
After returning to the bubble I shifted a few pinned blueprints and unlocked the Sarge. I then sold my AspX and Python (sniff, sniff), bought a Phantom and flew it to Ceos to run some shuttles. Always something to keep me interested!
Man, BIG time. 1/2 billion in data? Wow!Awesome numbers there!![]()
It takes ages, doesn't it? I've stopped trying to get to deadly as that progress bar just creeps along too slowlyStill working on the triple elite thing.
Combat rank is now at 33% Deadly... so I'm calling that another milestone.

I got tired of mining for the time being and decided to fill up my raw material bins, so I threw together a DBX build, down traded all grade 4 raw materials except selenium and took a trip out to the shard sites. Once done there I decided to do a short bout of exploration over the weekend and set a course for the Heart and Soul nebulae. Arrived before ending the session yesterday and found a nice neutron star nearby to start the journey back to the bubble. A fair number of first discoveries in the navigation computer, but nothing too exciting. Got a couple of nice screenshots from a few pretty gas giants though. For some reason I have an unhealthy obsession with looking at pretty gas giants when landed on their moons ... Something about all that swirly gas ...
Well, at least the raw materials should keep me for a while ...
Must say I like the DBX. So much easier to find a landing spot than with the Asp, especially when you want to park on top of a mountain. I also found that the relatively small scoop does not bother me that much as long as I can honk and have a look at the FSS while scooping.
I may have put point defences on my DBX just in case I get the urge to unlock more modules ...DBX is also wonderful for Guardian sites as you can park easily and put some point defence for the skimmers. It's a great little ship.

Still, getting elite in combat isn't really something I must have; I prefer spending my time finding first disco's. Mrs. Tyres thought I'd completely lost every plot ever when I whooped at an undiscovered ammonia world. It's this lockdown: one's priorities shift.
I've moved a further 500lys out now, hoping to find something unique instead of "oh goody, another icy world".
I remember grinding Thargoid scouts for that. It took me exactly 1636 scout kills ... I was seeing scouts in my sleep ...
Neither does combat elite. You can just outfit a ship with turreted AX multicannons and sit around an AX conflict zone for enough time.Given that the explorer and trader ones don't require an enormous level of pilot skill
Setting new personal goals help a lot. There is more or less always something that you have not done before.I am honestly concerned though that when I reach it I will lose motivation to play. Having a goal or purpose in Elite is pure gold and removing my longest running one could be detrimental. I said three years ago that I think once I hit triple Elite and have every ship I want I might stop playing. I guess I will find out sooner or later.
