Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Spent the last few days farming crystal forests for raw elements.. Some collecting, some sight seeing, mountain jumping of course, Srv yoga.. Got all mats maxed, and the views were nice too!

Crossed from the core into Ryker's Hope,so new sector bonus FD's have mildly inflated my credit-worthiness .It can be quite a pleasant surprise when it gets turned in, but by today's standards it's peanuts. And of course,if it doesn't get turned in, it's gone forever..(.the cr. not the system.Like loose change down the back of the sofa.)
here i am dropped into to this nice little cluster of gently glowing fumeroles for a snack and a kip.

Oops! :D
I did sit there for a few minutes though, observing the shimmer of heat haze as embers drifted up and sparks flew, before finding somewhere a tad less warm.
for the night.Hmm toasty buns.:giggle:

That's just too cool. Where does one find crystal forests?
There is a guide thread all about them here.

Thank you aRJay! I'll go check those systems out when I get back to the bubble! :)

I was browsing through my journal files, the automatic ones that ED writes out, just because I was curious.

I found the first journal entry for Codger (who is actually my 2nd commander, but became my main account).

This was it:

{ "timestamp":"2016-11-01T14:21:08Z", "event":"LoadGame", "Commander":"Codger", "Ship":"SideWinder", "ShipID":0, "GameMode":"Solo", "Credits":135069, "Loan":0 }

Such memories! Being in my first Sidewinder, back in 2016, with 135k to my name. It was a glorious (and confusing) time. I've loved every minute since then.

Perhaps not. It's 32KLYs away from where I am :D
Ha-ha.I did wonder about that. I looked it up, too, only 12kly for me, but that's increasing atmo. Still,it's an interesting spot. Will probably.drop a marker on it and visit at a future date. Iirc the most i've found in a system is 86, which was pretty crowded, but i wouldn't complete map such a system.I value my sanity.:)

Looks like a transformer... :D

Decided to mothball the Sploraconda as it was too ponderous lining up for the next jump and emptied the tank by a third every time I hit my max range. The Phantom, for me, is much more viable, being more manoeuvrable and doing six or seven jumps before running on fumes and worrying about the Fuel Rats.

It will also jump 500LYs alot quicker than an FC so it's a win-win ship for me! And it doesn't need tritium: it runs on good ole leaded.
