Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

What card did you get?
I just picked up a used 4gb from ebay for £94, I'd rather wait until prices get lower before I consider shelling out for a new bigger card. I keep my eye on what's happening in the crypto world anyway so I know I only needed a stop gap solution.

It's doing well tbh and odyssey is playable, I have it on 1080p, it's a smooth frame rate most of the time and that's good enough for me.

Prior to this I was using the APU on my Ryzen 5 3400 which was good for Horizons but only 2gb for VRAM

Is there somewhere we can see how many factions we are allied with? Can't see anything on Inara.

If there is, it'll be in-game I suspect, but it's possible that there's no easy way to get this information.

There's a boating club near Yeadon, which is close to the Intergalactic terminus of Leeds Bradford Starport. Been a couple of years. My memory isn't what it was, lol.

That I did not know! Little bit too far to walk, but I might go see it some time 😹

It's always the upper class nature of the Imperial accent that strikes me. To the extent that hearing a person in RL with that accent would be a rare thing, unless you live with the queen. The alliance accent on the other hand would be rarely heard by the queen.
Personally, I just interpret it is as south of England accent. It's very cambridge/oxford, which are affluent, but not upper class; it's just how they talk down there.

Little sad that I've yet to come across a more northern accent...

I definately remember a few northerners when I was in Alliance territory for the Alcor CG. But then I grew up in Cambridge and what strikes me are accents plumbier than that mine. With accents our sensitivities are tuned by our own bias.

I mean, I lived in cambridge age 1-6 😹 But I mostly don't have clear memories to judge with. But I definitely used to hear those "imperial" accents while working on a university campus in yorkshire - and those students weren't particularly wealthy, it's just where they'd come from. I don't feel like you have to own a horse to sound imperial 😸

They were from Harrogate.
That posh, wow!

Coming from near the middle of the Midlands and being older the Imperial accent strikes me more as being BBC English or Received Pronunciation, crisper and clearer than the real aristocratic version as used by the Honourable Chalmondley Fortesque Mainwarring-Smythe etc.

It hurts me to watch this. For me most of the fun is in the on-foot combat, and sneaking. You just nuke them with rockets! lol. To each their own, of course.

Video looks nice and sharp.

What is the story of Flatleythebard? :D
I'm rubbish at sneaking :D But I'm slowly getting better so nuking from orbit may not be happening much longer...

As for the "flatleythebard" - boring really: I used to play a bard type character in an MMORPG (Everquest) and I'd just finished watching "Feet of Flames" from Michael Flatley's concert in Hyde Park years ago. I just tied the two together. It sort of stuck with me for ages. Fun, eh? :ROFLMAO:
