Well, tomorrow's work day is going to be fun, but I couldn't stop playing until now
Yesterday, I admired the fallow deer which looks so fantastic, I really underestimated them.
Today, I spent about an hour or so trying to incorporate a ride with a tunnel underneath my buildings and then up the mountain. Until I gave up and decided that the guests have to walk
Thank you for your tips! I apparently don't have the patience. It looked horrible, especially because the pathing to and from the stations was a desaster in the uneven terrain. This is going to be a hiking zoo.
After that bit of frustration, I got lucky and had a few in-game years without snow, so I could actually see what I was doing! On the workshop, I found an absolutely amazing medieval-styled large building with shops, which fit the blank spot in my entrance area just perfectly. I only added the heraldic badges and the glass decoration and it works like a charm. I then added the blueprints from the DLC. I just had to fill that space, but I LOVE the look of it. Maybe not the most suitable style for the tundra, but it is still on the flat terrain of the map, so it will do. I can imagine there are hotel rooms inside, since the zoo is in the middle of nowhere. I feel a bit lazy now, but since the buildings exist in that perfect way, why should I bother to attempt them on my own! And behind that area, I started a badger habitat which basically meant a lot of rocks today. But wow, they are so adorable!
The large double-building on the left ist from the workshop, the green and yellow ones are DLC blueprints from Frontier.

I absolutely love polar parks, they're my favourite, and very challenging. I'm not good with transport rides either, but what I did in my oldest still running zoo during my renovations (which are still going on literal months later, oops :x) was make a space at the front for a station, and leave/make spaces near the areas I thought would be good for others even if nowhere near ready to build them. With monorail you don't even need to worry about the ground, just jack it up high enough (you could do that with the train too I guess but to get it looking realistic you'd have to have the patience to build a lot of tressle...)
