What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Look, german music gets better with the amount of alcohol your drinking.
But sober most of it is unbearable.
Somehow, this says a lot about our culture.
Well, I'll check it out. I don't drink alcohol at all, so that won't work...

Personally, I just listen to stuff from 1930s to the 80s, so I'm not too picky except for what is always playing on the radio. Blech...
Give me a good, jazzy Ain't Misbehavin' any day

Ooh, jukeboxes for PZ!!! Wouldn't that be something?
You might like the older "classic German rock" type of music, then!

My zoo is again covered in snow and although I find it beautiful, my computer strongly dislikes it and the performance already dropped, with five small habitats! I really need to upgrade in order to enjoy the game more. With all the DLCs, I really want to build bigger and more detailed zoos. Today I did a lot of scenery and decorating (which probably ruined the performance), and a little photoshoot which will hopefully result in an entry for the Christmas Card Competition.

I played around with the memorial plaque feature and created memorials for the dog whose name graces my franchise zoos. Wish the plaques could be a bit bigger, though.

The prairie dog habitat at Sutherland Zoo, just past the entrance. As I mentioned earlier, in my "lore" this used to be a meerkat habitat, but the meerkats now reside in the as-yet unbuilt Kopje alongside the aardvarks and fennec foxes. I tried to do a mix of natural and artificial, using faux rocks and keeping the fences visible, and planting with plants that could conceivably grow in temperate England.

Hard to see because of the angle but there's a heat lamp in there. I built it using metal beams, a hanging light that I recoloured to red, and a heater hidden underneath the ground so the animals actually use it.

That looks nice. I struggle with getting the faux rocks to look the way they do at real zoos.

Like the heat lamp idea!
Thank you. The trouble is that we don't have a lot of faux rock sizes or shapes. We have really big ones or really small ones - not as versatile as they could be. Honestly when they announced them I'd hoped it would be a set in the same style as the rocks we already have, except recolourable.

What? Two of my favorite bands are german 😂 (and its not Helene Fischer! 😒)

@darthquell If you are looking for german music, look for german schantys, there are sure to be some instrumental pieces.
There are also a few famous German composers for classical music.
Some medieval songs could also fit.
I would also go a bit in the direction of the Alps. There is sure to be some "Alpine music" as an instrumental piece.
It doesn't have to be the Oktoberfest beer tent music.

Thanks. I will have to see.
I wanted to do Irish, and it sounded kinda piratey (like the Krusty Krab 🤣 )

I agree! But I still hope they will come in the same shapes as the "normal" rocks. The non-grid matching wall pieces from the latest update made me confident.

I started to cover my staff facilities next to the entrance with my first half-timbered houses. After using blueprints for the rest of the area, I wanted to do it on my own. I'm not done yet, but like it so far. I might either finish this today, or start a combined habitat for the Ibex and Dall Sheep. But dinner first - Käsespätzle, since we were talking about German culture. This is one of the most pleasant dishes of my region

I'm building a sandbox zoo set in Jamaica, and I finally used the restaurants. I call it the Royal Wild Buffet, and 3 sides of the building have glass for guests to view into habitats. Since I wanted elegant, majestic animals, my first habitat for that buffet: European fallow deer. Beautiful.

Next 2 habitats: southern cassowary somehow fits, and also the Komodo dragons.

Ok, I have a dilemma: I don't know any generic, instrumental German music. Does anybody have any suggestions?

If you really want traditional instrumental music from Germany, then you'd go for classical composers, such as Beethoven or Bach.
Guess, popular music was always influenced by foreign genres. Even in WW2 people loved american swing but were forbidden to produce it and even listen to it. Artists produced it anyway, but didn't release it under the "swing" label. They tagged it "foxtrot" instead. Michael Jary would be such an artist.
And for "generic german Volksmusik" ... when the germans even hate it themselves, I wouldn't call it "generic" anymore, but "farce". And it doesn't seem to be instrumental either, but comes with really cringeworthy, cheesy lyrics.

As a fellow German: Please, for the love of god, don't listen to Volksmusik or Schlager! Listen to "Die Ärzte" instead!
Ahem. Well, moving on ... Where was I? Ah, yes.
Build a nice little habitat for my prairie dogs with some items from the workshop. What do you think?

🤤 Would love so much to eat this at the Moment. Also really craving Bratwurst since a few Days.

Mac and cheese? Yes, please...
I think the Main Difference is that Spätzle have more Eggs in them (do other Noodles even include Eggs? 🤔). There's definitely a big Difference in Taste. If you can find a English Version of the Recipe, I'd recommend to try it.

I've started working on the hard task of adding decals to Tharmachati; this is certainly going to take a few more days of work 😅
😍 This Zoo looks so awesome. Love it how shallow the Otter Tanks can be now

I love how this thread evolved into a bashing-round of German Schlager music after Darthquell's innocent question

Mac and cheese? Yes, please...
The pasta is a different type, but very similar in terms of deliciousness, yes!

I love it! Prairie vibes are real :)
