What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Okay I love that, great job!
Thaaank you! I like it too, surprisingly. I'm not good with primate habitats usually. Maybe I should just make a habit of whining to you when I'm stuck. I mean, additionally with Planet Zoo, not only with everything else. 😜
All jokes aside, I'm thinking about making a primate / monkey / whatever area with all species I'll use in that project. Still undecided if that'll train my skills or drive me nuts. Or both.

EDIT: @Chuditch WOW, looks so realistic and beautiful!

Thanks so much!

Built the capuchin habitat next to the caimans this afternoon. Primate habitats, especially small primate habitats, have never been my strong suit (custom climbing frames are my mortal enemy and I struggle with making dense foliage in constrained spaces) and I'm not 100% happy with this one, but it's the best I can do for now.

There's 10 of them in here but as usual they all went onto the ground and hid in the bracken when I was trying to get pictures (they were super active on the climbing frames beforehand).

Excited to do the maned wolves next! Hopefully I'll have the time and motivation to bring them in after work tomorrow.

I think it looks great 👍

I love it very much actually.

Had a nice session today working on the shelter of my racoons and ngl i think this is my second best building yet after my deleted tropical house.
From the outside we got a nice little look with some veggies, sunflowers and a custom insect hotel i made alongside a bunch of flowers.

BUTThats not all as i actually made an inside aswell!
It isnt the most breathtaking thing ever, but it works and i like it.
Also, can you spot the racoons new neighbors that fotobomb one of the pictures? 👀

This is lovely!

Great to see what people are up to. I still have issues just making enclosures - gotta spend more time watching tutorials I think.
Time for Königs Beginner Tipps:
1. Rocks are your best friend, especally the faux rocks. If in doubt, a rock + some lowkey foliage like some grass, nettles or bushes do the trick
2. Sink in Trees for better bushes. Thats a huge one, i recommend you try that with the tiny beech tree and you will see what i mean.
3. Custom Fences >>>>>>>>> ingame Fences. Think about it, most enclosures especally for something like ungulates are quite empty when you go to the zoo. The framing around them is often what makes them pretty. + the ingame fence options are also kinda ugly. Try to experiment with all kinds of pieces, but as a starting point a stone base with mesh on top and some kind of post on one side allready does wonders. You put the post only on one side as your gonna copy pace that blueprint and its easier to just align the new one as the others second post then trying to make them overlap perfectly
4. Try to make a base foliage selection that you can build on for more special habitats. For example my standard europe pallete is the tiny beech tree, brumbles, nettles, fern and the pea bushes + a few different trees like beeches, oaks, pines, etc. Now if you want something stand out, you can simply mix up this foliage, for example i build an asian garden where these are still a rough baseline, but much less so with more asian plants like the ones with orange leafs and bamboo being allowed a leading role. Having a clear natural baselines makes the purposefully planted stuff for theming pop much more and make everything seem more cohesive
5. And finally like my art teacher in school allways told me, dont force yourself to work at any specific spot at any specific time. If you feel inspired in the moment to build on your main project, thats great! But if you dont and just want to decorate a staff section or something, just do that instead. Its very visible where you put your time, love and effort into your builds and where you just tried to get something done. So really, just have fun and do what ever you feel like and everything will not only be much easier, but prettier

While im not finished for the day i did something really cool and wanted to show it to you guys.
I kept working on the indoor stuff and a bit on the outdoor parts aswell and surprise surprise i made an surprisingly easy to made little kitchen that for what i did looks really good! I spent maybe half an hour on it, can you guys guess all the parts i used?
I really wanna show this of and will later make another post mentioning the parts, because this was really very easy and fun to do and im sure atleast some of you just need a little push to enjoy building stuff like this aswell.
I only used 3 different kinds of pieces to make the furniture (one of them should be really obvious) and another one + one of those to make the knife.
Lets see if someone gets it till i make the next update on my zoo

As promised, maned wolves! It was a joy to build a habitat for my favourite South American animal for the first time.

The wolves in-game can't use this rock shelter (they love standing on it though), but it's actually a reference to my experience with maned wolves at my local zoo. I've only ever seen them out and about on a few select occasions, for every other time I've been at the zoo they're fast asleep in a little cave very similar to this one with just their ears and upper back being visible.

From here I plan the path leading off from the maned wolves to lead to an Australia section (focused on south-eastern Australia specifically, with the red kangaroo, cassowary and saltie appearing elsewhere in the zoo), while the bisecting paths past the capuchins lead to dryland and rainforest themed areas. Not sure which I'll start first, and I'll probably jump between them depending on what animals I feel like building for.

Wow this must be among your best habitats yet, looks absolutly stunning!

So much great work on here lately, well done everyone.

I am feeling so motivated, so inspired, so keen to play. But work is too hectic just before Christmas and all I can do in the evenings is watch an hour of tv before falling asleep.

Can’t wait for between Christmas and new year when hopefully I’ll have some more time.
