What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Me after I build a simple square enclosure:

Almost finished the Bear Enclosure in my Japanese Zoo that is still only named Hokkaido Zoo because I can't come up with a good Name. It's absolutely beautiful. Especially during Sunset. Now I need to find a Way to add a Mountain that doesn't just look like a Hill that is covered in Rocks and has a Cave in it. I would like to create a Miniature Version of Mt. Fuji but I think due to me being that bad at creating good looking Mountains, I can forget that 🙃

After feeling a bit burnt out for a while I started planning a new Japanese zoo. Unlike the ones I worked on before this will be a bit more sub-tropical in feel with space for the new SE Asian animals. I was planning on continuing with a central European zoo but when it's still below zero with metres of snow outside I feel like some warm weather escapism. Plus a Japanese zoo is realistic to include a proboscis monkey enclosure which isn't the case for Europe these days.

I started work on it but it ended up being Australian and I am pleased with it so far. So maybe no proboscis monkeys but there will definitely be room for sun bears, tapirs and binturongs. Maybe clouded leopards if I can figure out how to do an enclosure.

Since we're gaining the ability to transfer franchise zoos to sandbox (and thus the workshop), I've been going through a few of my nicer franchise zoos, cleaning up simple rookie mistakes in preparation for that. In most cases, that's meant working on shops and staff areas, which got plopped down for function rather than beauty the first time around. I'm also realizing how often I have an experimental section, where I'm trying out a new tool or game mechanic, but which got abandoned once I figured it out and started applying the new knowledge to a new project.

DLC in 9 days! Can't wait!

The African area is starting to take shape and I added the second animal: African wild dog. I tried to play a little with different terrain hights, since most of my habitats are always plain.

I tried to hide as much as possible the big white building (the 2 floor lynx conservation centre) from the visitors point of view:

I opened a 2nd franchise zoo, along with my 1st one. The 1st one (Zoo Mex), since it's chaotic, will become my research zoo. The 2nd one (Grand British Zoo) will be my better organized zoo

Slow progress on the immediate surrounding area of what will eventually be Jaalam Bioparc. Mostly created some new content for the billboards, this feature can not get here quick enough. It will probably take me an entire day to go through all the areas already created and revisit them with the billboards, it will be a major overhaul, especially the interior of the main entrance building. Looking forward to losing all the excess pieces from murals that I will no longer need. I'm so glad I did not start work on the actual park until the billboards were announced, it would had been a lot of work to go back and add everything.

I mostly added new trees to one of the streets facing the edge of the park. Each tree is different, and that is what takes most of the time, but it pays off at the end, as it gives the area a much more realistic and mature landscape look.

Started work on the media that will accompany the Heart of Africa exhibit. This will be one of the largest areas on the park, adjacent to the main entrance of Jaalam Bioparc. I have started creating a very extensive set of signs, maps, wall murals, interpretative infographics etc, all in relation to this one exhibit.

I finally reworked my giraffe and elephant house in my first franchise zoo and changed what was a wild dog habitat and cave into an extended giraffe and zebra habitat with a watering hole. The poor wild dogs got bumped to a much less exciting habitat that used to be my hyenas that i'll have to improve for them in time. I really like that this game forces me to reconsider my layout and structures and make changes over time to make it all work better. I'm now trying to work out where I will add the new guest spawners and entrances when the new update comes. I'm thinking my train station might work but I did move some of my more stress sensitive species to the back of the zoo and might have issues with new entrances. Oh well!

After starting a new Zoo (Bookland Zoo) and a new Tierpark/ low budget zoo (Tierpark Murmeldorf) I find myself stuck and not willing to play AGAIN. This is getting on my nerves. I love this game, what the heck is wrong with me lately?!

So I decided I'll redo my Flamingo habitat in Bookland Zoo. Seems like I don't feel good with the theming. I'll scratch the budget though, scratch all planning what animal fits in which section and will just go with the g flow. Hopefully that helps.

I'm preparing generic animal boards for the update:

Example

I'm not done with any of them, even the example. What I need are the following (any help will be appreciated):

1. High quality in-game animal photos with NO man-made objects, to make it look like it's the wild

2. In-game photos of the animal distribution maps, because I want all the distribution maps to match, otherwise it will look weird and off

Every species will have one of these boards, and then a 2nd with some facts. Some may get more than 2 boards, but for sure each species will have 2

I put some exhibits, but it is surprising that there are so few African exhibits available (and I had already used one in the frog house). I also hid a solar panel with some theme around it. Believe or not, I haven't used much the African theme in the game yet, so I'm discovering a lot of pieces.

Then I did a big building that houses many things: food and drink, souvenirs, toilets, staff room, several keepers huts, water treatment and even a shelter for my next habitat.

Finally, I added the plants between the main path and the habitats that I had done for the hyenas and wild dogs. Just adding a few plants and rocks improves the area a lot.

Thanks for the Reminder that I could also start to work on Education Signs. Don't know if I will change them for any of my other already existing Zoos but I know how I want to design the Signs for my japanese Zoo. Just don't know yet if I will do something with the Text Area of the Sign so it won't just be Text on a white Background. I think we should get a custom Billboard Resources Subforum in the Your Creations Part of the Forum
