Distant Worlds II Event What Ship are you Bringing and Why?

I'm most likely gonna take my Conda as I love it but I am tempted with an Orca - and who knows perhaps I'll take a Corvette if I can get a jump range I am happy with

CMDR Thrust from Bradford has already engineered the next new exploration ship... and he has a working guardian booster.

As for me either my Conda, a Corvette or Cutter.

If the Chieftain ever got an extra optional slot or two I'd probably take that, or if the hoped for megaship has an outfitting for swapping in/out modules.

I registered with my AspX (Gudridur II) but am thinking about switching to a Type 7 as my engineered FSD in Gudridur can be used in the T7. The additional slots will naturally come in handy.

During the next beta, I may try an Orca just in case I am missing out on something.

Welp, now that we know the Guardian FSD Boosters require an internal slot and not a utility slot, and that the largest version of the booster needs a class 5 slot to boot, that makes seven internals I want on any exploration ship I fly into deep space (ADS, DSS, SRV, shield, scoop, AFMU, and booster). So yep, my DBX is getting mothballed once again. Shame as I really loved taking it into deep space, but I want as much jump range as I can muster so mothballed it goes.

I think I'll be switching to my Asp, but maybe it's just time I accept that Frontier wants us all to fly Anacondas, maybe it's time I just grin and bear it...

Last time I was at Beagle Point I swore that the next time I would have a hot tub. This time taking the whole pool.

Got a bubble running Beluga with a bit more jump range than I had on DWE. The 4A fuel scoop is a pain but there are ways to work around it.

Good enough for the Colonia Christmas Convoy and Silly Ships 2 should be good enough for this.

Looking forward to all the swearing finding a parking spot.

I'm bringing my Exploraconda "To Boldly Go." 67.21 LY jump range in its current configuration with shields, a mining laser, two 1D limpet controllers (repair + refuel), a planetary vehicle hangar, some lightweighted heat sink launchers + scanner arrays, 32T fuel tank.

While I'm not a Fuel Rat, I should still be able to help out with fuel and repairs.

I would love to fly my Type10 on the event, even so, I signed with an Anaconda. Thats because I will not have much time to play, so my focus will need to be on jump range.

I think I'm "stuck" with the Conda anyways, despite it's limited cockpit view.

I have seen some suggestions that the Asp Explorer is going to get a revamp in this season. Is that correct? Does anyone have a source reference?

I like my AspX, but it has long been a pain that there are insufficient module slots to have repair+refuel controllers etc for exploration, and with 3.4 apparently due to bring in survey drones I guess that will require yet another slot.

No, Sandro said a long time ago that they were thinking about buffing the Asp Scout, but they never mentioned doing anything to the Asp Explorer.

I remember that livestream (3.1 livestream?), question was asked about a potential new and dedicated exploration ship, and Sandro said they wouldn't go that way, but rather buff the Asp. Now you're making me doubt if it was the Scout or the Explorer.

Well, in a way it might be both:

1. In a livestream last year Sandro mentioned Asp Scout buffs for sometime in 2018.

2. More recently Sandro mentioned possibly adding specialized exploration internal slots to certain ships.

So, if both come to pass, then it's possible that both Asps might get buffed.

I can see the potential of both the AspX and the DBX getting an ADS and DSS bulit into the ship, so they are permenant features.

I am wondering if they intend to turn the Asp Scout into a mining ship.

As to the ship I want to take with me on DW2, that will be the Krait if I can turn it into a reasonable Exploration vessel.

The reason being is that it looked great at the expo. Do I need any other reason?
