What the hell? When did this get introduced?

People complain about the game world feeling static & unaffected by in-game events, and then when it does affect the world, we get other people complaining about it!

FDev can't win :(

It's a daft idea to put all your stuff in one station. There's absolutely no advantage, and there's also no advantage in having a home. It just wastes time keep going back there and there's better places to go.

He's just saying he's been away from the system for a week, doesn't seem like hyperbole to me. Anyway, OP, it sounds like you're sort of just burnt out on the game. Maybe a longer break would help.

I misquoted. Was supposed to quote the thesis bit.

Very good point- as the saying goes... "all your eggs in one basket"

I don't like missions for one thing, its not what I'm playing for - for another, if I'm going to start bounty hunting, I need to fit a ship for it first, but I can't.

I have a real-world scheduled time to get certain things done in the game. I don't fight much in the game so I don't have a ready set-up ship - most of my ships don't even have guns installed... I was working on getting to leave for some exploration, not blowing up ships...

And I don't have all day to move my stuff somewhere else and try to do my fitting elsewhere. I have several parts to complete the engineering, cause 3.0 engineering RNG ground me for even more than the usual amount of 40 materials per mod. Handling the logistics of getting all this crap was frankly all I had patience for...

- Driving your SRV around a planet for materials is fun for about 20 minutes. But after 20 minutes, you have nowhere near the amount of stuff required.
- Scanning ships or wakes is fun for about zero minutes, but after zero minutes, you have zip
- staring into the black for little beige USS circles to appear is already not fun even thinking about it, let alone being there and keeping your eyes from closing with match sticks...

All soaking up my time, but not providing anywhere near the fun ratio I get from other games... And then it thwarts me when I'm almost to my goal...
Yuk!

Must I move to Shinrarta Dezra or could they also go into lock down on any god forsaken day I happen to want to fit a ship?

One last point: I play games to do what I want. Not what NPCs want..... eeep, wrong game. Load up Assassin's Creed, get everything you want, when you want..

Au contraire, playing ED gives you the freedom for doing what you will, instead of scripted stuff.
And imho the experience you are having is absolutely working as intended. That' s how galaxy politics affect us. Recently I was stranded with no fuel inside a station, not being able to refuel due to the new crime and pun system. In the end I had to ask for help so someone had to come and help. I had a nice experience in the end. This is not your common console friendly game

It's just another aspect of situational awareness. There are indicators, telling you that your home system/ststion's status will/is changing.

Another one of your useless reply's. Can you accept my friend request so I can blast your face off.
thank you

Any station can potentially go into lockdown, I believe. It's part of the game... Though most of your comments seem to imply that you are not enjoying many parts of the game, so it does make me wonder why you are bothering...
Its a good question.

Obviously, I quit bothering already in 1.4, after they made reputation decay while you're logged out and added that ludicrous card deck they called "power play", connected with even more repetitive grind than the CG's already were.

But in January 2018, I saw a YouTube video about passenger transports and thought "wow, FD has at least loosened up on the money supply, I could give it another shot and see if more ships make it more interesting, maybe... Then I found out about engineering and rather liked that. If you weren't trying for the max on everything, you could do a grade 5 engineering mod in one to three rolls, which would improve things by leaps and bounds... that was cool!

But otherwise, I'm not too much into playing Privateer II without the story...

You really do have a point - I've been thinking I may not play any computer games for much longer. There's really nothing new, other than improving graphics, I haven't seen anything unique, thats not about fighting somebody or something, or that contains an idiotic capitalism simulation, as if humans are incapable of coming up with a better system that's not a total fraud. Or anything that's not mostly about killing things. Embedding the Kill:Reward motivation into every game is really questionable, if you think about it.

No, actually I was really into what I was doing - otherwise I wouldn't have had the drive to go through hell and high water to get all those materials. I can't decide which one was hell and which one was high water, between the game activities and the countless google searches required...

After this materials hunting ordeal, I just want to finish my exploration ship and use it - not be bothered by my station developing issues with basic functionality...

I've been thinking I may not play any computer games for much longer.

Funnily enough I've also come to this conclusion. Though I'll be honest, I'll always come back to E: D at least once in a while. It's amazing how much useful stuff (and interesting real-life stuff) you can do instead of playing a computer game. :)

Another post by someone who didn't understand what "Sim" meant before they jumped into Space.

I just like the static sims from years ago - with a story - like Privateer II, Independence War, The Jupiter Incident etc...

Please note, that I backed exclusively for the promised OFFLINE SINGLE PLAYER game that needed no connection.

Now I can't play unless I can get online and I don't have the choice if I want to install a patch or not.
So they gave me the "solo" play option instead...
I should be able to kick all the troublesome NPCs off the server ...oh, never mind :D

Then you should just transfer your ship and the modules you need to Shinrarta Dezhra or any other station which is not in lockdown and continue your quest from there.

You make that sound simple....

Thanks to the minuscule storage limit of 60 items, I had to store a lot of engineered parts on extra hulls. moving a lot of that isn't cheap, you know...

After a long day of engineering efforts at about midnight, your headquarters loosing function, when you're finally ready to put it all together and your head is already smoking from all the lists of materials and modules you need haul here and there, its just over the line of what I can or still want to handle in additional logistics!

And what kind of logic is this? I can't access it locally, but if I move to another system, they'll ship it post haste?
For half the re-buy cost?
Lock down suddenly doesn't apply?

This game is like working for FedEx all day and when you get home, there's no dinner as your fridge is locked, unless you move into a neighboring house, where you bizarrely *can* access your fridge, if you feel like waiting around long enough!

Go play something else, OP. Jesus.

I'm pretty sure the training and challenge scenarios are always available in case you want to play solo or don't want to bother with the rest of the galaxy.

It's part of the game OP, and has been for a couple of years.

I suspect you already knew that though, given how long you've been playing for.

As others have said, fly to a nearby stations that isn't in lockdown, and transfer your stuff to there.

Oh dear. In this game you are not the center of the Universe. It's that type of game. Nothing will wait for you. Or ask "are you ready?". Things will just happen. Lockdown means lockdown. There are means for you to get your modules back, getting out of troubles is part of a gameplay. Even if this game had single player you'd still complain, because core mechanics that allow these things to happen would still be there.
