What the hell? When did this get introduced?

I just like the static sims from years ago - with a story - like Privateer II, Independence War, The Jupiter Incident etc...

Please note, that I backed exclusively for the promised OFFLINE SINGLE PLAYER game that needed no connection.

Now I can't play unless I can get online and I don't have the choice if I want to install a patch or not.
So they gave me the "solo" play option instead...
I should be able to kick all the troublesome NPCs off the server ...oh, never mind :D

Then go play those ones & cease your pathetic whining. I'm sure you can get all of the titles you mention in some Steam Sale.

Given how whiny the OP is being, & so unwilling to help himself out, I would now be tempted to head over to his Home System to help *keep* it in lock-down.

You know what, Marc, I'd thought of it myself, but I really wanted to get some solid CG piracy in tonight.

Seeing as the CG is dead though, and I got this shiny, brand new pirate ship, it's time she earned herself a solid rap sheet.

Diaguandri, here I come :)

Matter of fact, I've got some stolen silver and Master Chefs that need doin' with...

Master Chefs! They are a rare commodity - can't remember where they come from. I snagged 'em off a harmless NPC T-6 a couple hours ago :)

He bought a second-hand Nova from a Cuban-Chinese
Dyed his hair in the bathroom of a Texaco...

... which was never promised.

The original kickstarter was an online-only game. Lots of people asked Frontier about an offline game, Frontier said "we'll think about it", then having thought about it, said "no". It's way past time people got over this.

That isn't true at all. The original pitch did indeed include a completely offline mode, it was originally their own idea. About a month before release, they announced that they wouldn't be able to do it.

Direct quote from the original Kickstarter FAQ:

"However it will be possible to have a single player game without connecting to the galaxy server. You won't get the features of the evolving galaxy (although we will investigate minimising those differences) and you probably won't be able to sync between server and non-server (again we'll investigate)."

It's funny how these threads always derail. :D

Though the solution has been given already. It's always a risk that your home station is locking down for a week, which might be inconvenient, but actually I like that part. Solution: jump to the next best system, go to shipyard, transfer the ship(s) you need for a minor fee. Same with modules in outfitting if you need some. Done.

spin doctor? liar...?

And yeah, we know the Kickstarter FAQ has since been edited, just use the way-back engine if you aren't just a shill but interested in the truth.

You can play offline without server connections and we will make sure you can play the game if we ever shut the servers down.

Hi OP,

Couple of points, directly answering your questions.
2.1 or 2.2 is when lockdown started shutting down services in starports. It was not an effect in 2.0, I think it came with the NPC upgrade.

When away from your system, take alook at local news before you go in any station where your faction is, it will let you know pending states, and in the case of conflicts where. This is a HUGE time saver, in the old days you had to visit each sytem map. Even when out of town, you can look at system map and track what is happening back home. Remember equal influence with another faction is bad!. It takes 5 days for a conflict to start, so you do not need to panic, even if you see equal influence. Try to get back a day early and sell exploration data in the system going into conflict. Most confilcts are won before they are started.

Now get a ship tranaferred, have fun bounty hunting and help you HQ out.

Simon

Never attribute to malice that which can be attributed to incompetence.

So I will just assume that you’re not intentionally lying but instead lack the skills to research something before speaking out.
