What the hell? When did this get introduced?

Its always good to see the best and the worst this so called community has to offer in one thread.

Are you referring to some people offering to help out lifting the lockdown and one stooping to extending the lockdown...?

Since I can't log in now, its all academic - at least to me ^^

Every time I go "Start" "Solo Play", it'll try to go in and show my spinning SRV for half a minute and produce an error...
Tested my internet speed at 9.4Mb/s, YouTube vids play without stutter. idk.

I was already stuck the same way in what FD customer service called a "bugged system". It took them a full 6 months to enable me to log in again :p

Overall, the community is what makes this game worth bothering, so I'm not going to be bothered by two mean-spirited pirates.

Yes!

If you need some pointers, OP, let me know :)

Well thanks... I can't log in.

My connection works great for everything else. I can play SWTOR.

But Elite shows me my spinning SRV after hitting start > solo play > and then errors out after a few minutes of the orange SRV graphic spinning...

So, I see, this game has uncounted ways to prevent you from completing your engineering tasks...

Try logging into Regular Elite, non-horizons. Often times that fixes the issue by putting you in your ship in orbit.

I can't believe this thread has gone for so long and nobody has asked if they can haz your stuff?

You seem to be the quitting type OP. When Ray Gateway finally comes out of lockdown can I haz your stuff?

Oh and now it's two awesome Pirates.

I'd still like to know what a cargo canister full of Master Chefs actually contains. Are they really chefs? I mean, I can understand slaves being shipped in cargo containers... But surely any chef that has achieved the title "Master" in their profession, would require a little more respect? :D

Thanks, I had only used that when getting stuck in planetary geometry so far, and didn't think of using it for a log-in issue...

So I loaded the non-horizons version, as usual, it asked me if I wanted to recover to orbit, which I did. Sitting in my ASP above the planet, I was satisfied, that this solved the problem and shut it down to start Horizons again...

Well, now I get an orange spinning ASP graphic for a few minutes and then it produces the same error as before and sends me back to the game menu. For good measure, I tried it three times, and apparently, I can log into non-Horizons Elite without issue, but Horizons is a no-go...

Try visiting another system and see if it changes anything; if it still is borked, put in a support ticket and explain everything. I'm amazed to hear it took 6 months for you last time, they are normally VERY fast and attentive, definitely the best support team I've dealt with for...anything ever, really. At worst my interactions with them have taken maybe 48 hours.

Do remember being polite and to the point tends to help with ticket prioritization, no matter where you go...make it simple to deal with and it'll get dealt with that much faster. ;)

That's sweet!

Its Diaguandri...

God knows, it also seems to lay directly in the path of the advancing Thargoids ^^

Ah, Ray Gateway homey. Explains why you're eggs are in one basket. The lockdown shouldn't last long. Maybe a short exploration trip in the meantime or some Thargoid hunting. :)

The exploration ship is what I was trying to do final assembly for - after running around for a week to get all the materials...

And I've never yet set up a Thargoid fighter - all I saw on YouTube is, that they need some sort of special setup. I was going to get around to that, but so far, I've just engineered a mixture of guns to see what experimental effects are the most fun...

Like a big fat overcharged Multicannon with corroded shells, 2 long range medium beams with Thermal Vent and 2 long range cannons with force shell.

I made enough different guns to swap around, but haven't tried them yet.

Lots of comments so I'd better get to it...

Must I move to Shinrarta Dezra or could they also go into lock down on any god forsaken day I happen to want to fit a ship?

moving to Shinrarta Dezhra is your best best if you were a Founder... It's not part of the BGS... So can't be put into lockdown.

Any station can potentially go into lockdown, I believe. It's part of the game...

Except Jameson's Memorial.

It's a daft idea to put all your stuff in one station. There's absolutely no advantage, and there's also no advantage in having a home. It just wastes time keep going back there and there's better places to go.

Jameson's Mem offers 10% off every module and every ship. It's the only station that stocks everything with this discount. Seems a good reason to me... I too used Ray Gatway until I became elite, but the 15% discount on its own isn't sufficient to outweigh the convenience of every module and ship type.

There's really nothing new, other than improving graphics, I haven't seen anything unique, thats not about fighting somebody or something, or that contains an idiotic capitalism simulation, as if humans are incapable of coming up with a better system that's not a total fraud. Or anything that's not mostly about killing things. Embedding the Kill:Reward motivation into every game is really questionable, if you think about it.

Like you, I'm sick to death (sic) of the constant torrent of games that are dominated by combat at every turn. There are so few that have any other mechanics in them at all! The exploration and puzzle solving genre (aka Myst for those the same age as me), seems to have been all but totally displaced by the drive for profits and that usually translates to shooting things (aka gore-fest vombie titles) for 20 something males who like to express their more violent nature's. I think it a sad reflection of modern society.

No, actually I was really into what I was doing - otherwise I wouldn't have had the drive to go through hell and high water to get all those materials. I can't decide which one was hell and which one was high water, between the game activities and the countless google searches required...

After this materials hunting ordeal, I just want to finish my exploration ship and use it - not be bothered by my station developing issues with basic functionality...

I so know what you mean there!

Funnily enough I've also come to this conclusion. Though I'll be honest, I'll always come back to E: D at least once in a while. It's amazing how much useful stuff (and interesting real-life stuff) you can do instead of playing a computer game. :)

Before I started playing EDH two+ years ago, I spent my free time editing photos as I was interested photography in a big way. I entered international salons and have a number of credits after my name (CPAGB, AFIAP and I did have an LRPS but quite my membership). I have a number of medals from these international salons including a gold and silver for this picture called Daffodil Admirer for example https://www.dropbox.com/s/1k1yq6jsb0g1zpn/2011_07_10 HowlettsZoo_0069_v7 crop5-3.jpg?dl=0

Since playing ED, my photography has all but completely stalled!

I can just hear the dev discussion
"Let's make a station go into lockdown"
"Why?"
"It will stop players from being able to do anything!"
"I don't get it, won't that just annoy them"
"Absolutely...let's do it"

That isn't trolling, that is just expressing the evil intent of the developers that seems to pervade every element and every decision that FDev has made to date. They just can't seem to help themselves... Why wasn't RNG completely removed from the RNGineers? You still have a variable number of rolls after playing RNGesus to obtain the materials... It's these almost sadistic decisions that I personally really hate about FDev.

You make that sound simple....
Thanks to the minuscule storage limit of 60 items, I had to store a lot of engineered parts on extra hulls. moving a lot of that isn't cheap, you know...
After a long day of engineering efforts at about midnight, your headquarters loosing function, when you're finally ready to put it all together and your head is already smoking from all the lists of materials and modules you need haul here and there, its just over the line of what I can or still want to handle in additional logistics!

And what kind of logic is this? I can't access it locally, but if I move to another system, they'll ship it post haste?
For half the re-buy cost?
Lock down suddenly doesn't apply?

This game is like working for FedEx all day and when you get home, there's no dinner as your fridge is locked, unless you move into a neighboring house, where you bizarrely *can* access your fridge, if you feel like waiting around long enough!

This is another example of fdev twisted logic.

I have to agree with you :p

This has happened to me as well. Interestingly with only one of my ED accounts, the alt account played just fine. I was in an SRV at Dav's Hope when it locked up. I logged a ticket but got no answer from FDev. When I keep re-posting to stop them closing the ticket they finally admitted that they had no idea why I lost access to the game for 48 hours.

The problem resoleved after I logged into ED (non-horizons), recovered to orbit and then reloged back to EDH. This didn't immediately solve the problem though, so it may still have been some other behind-the-scenes issue that fdev are not willing to talk about... No resolution was found for the problem...

Try logging into Regular Elite, non-horizons. Often times that fixes the issue by putting you in your ship in orbit.

Aka this...

That's why I keep all my stuff at Jameson Memorial - Shinrarta Dezhra is disconnected from BGS, so no lockdowns possible.

And this...

Leave it for another day and see if it now auto corrects itself, I'd be interested to hear what happens with this problem!

Support may be well intentioned, but I found that they were as clueless about this problem as I was... That or they are not fully disclosing the background server issues that I suspect that they are having...
