Its always good to see the best and the worst this so called community has to offer in one thread.
Overall, the community is what makes this game worth bothering, so I'm not going to be bothered by one...
I can just hear the dev discussion
"Let's make a station go into lockdown"
"Why?"
"It will stop players from being able to do anything!"
"I don't get it, won't that just annoy them"
"Absolutely...let's do it"
Yes!

Well thanks... I can't log in.
My connection works great for everything else. I can play SWTOR.
But Elite shows me my spinning SRV after hitting start > solo play > and then errors out after a few minutes of the orange SRV graphic spinning...
Playing the BGS, now = harrassing other players.
Interesting, that.
Dude, don't worry. I'm just selling commodities at Ray Gateway

Trolling at its finest!
Try logging into Regular Elite, non-horizons. Often times that fixes the issue by putting you in your ship in orbit.
Thanks, I had only used that when getting stuck in planetary geometry so far, and didn't think of using it for a log-in issue...
So I loaded the non-horizons version, as usual, it asked me if I wanted to recover to orbit, which I did. Sitting in my ASP above the planet, I was satisfied, that this solved the problem and shut it down to start Horizons again...
Well, now I get an orange spinning ASP graphic for a few minutes and then it produces the same error as before and sends me back to the game menu. For good measure, I tried it three times, and apparently, I can log into non-Horizons Elite without issue, but Horizons is a no-go...
That's sweet!
Its Diaguandri...
God knows, it also seems to lay directly in the path of the advancing Thargoids ^^
Indeed, feel myself getting more and more salty about ED by the day.
Definitely time for a break![]()
Ah, Ray Gateway homey. Explains why you're eggs are in one basket. The lockdown shouldn't last long. Maybe a short exploration trip in the meantime or some Thargoid hunting.![]()
Must I move to Shinrarta Dezra or could they also go into lock down on any god forsaken day I happen to want to fit a ship?
Any station can potentially go into lockdown, I believe. It's part of the game...
It's a daft idea to put all your stuff in one station. There's absolutely no advantage, and there's also no advantage in having a home. It just wastes time keep going back there and there's better places to go.
There's really nothing new, other than improving graphics, I haven't seen anything unique, thats not about fighting somebody or something, or that contains an idiotic capitalism simulation, as if humans are incapable of coming up with a better system that's not a total fraud. Or anything that's not mostly about killing things. Embedding the Kill:Reward motivation into every game is really questionable, if you think about it.
No, actually I was really into what I was doing - otherwise I wouldn't have had the drive to go through hell and high water to get all those materials. I can't decide which one was hell and which one was high water, between the game activities and the countless google searches required...
After this materials hunting ordeal, I just want to finish my exploration ship and use it - not be bothered by my station developing issues with basic functionality...
Funnily enough I've also come to this conclusion. Though I'll be honest, I'll always come back to E: D at least once in a while. It's amazing how much useful stuff (and interesting real-life stuff) you can do instead of playing a computer game.![]()

You make that sound simple....
Thanks to the minuscule storage limit of 60 items, I had to store a lot of engineered parts on extra hulls. moving a lot of that isn't cheap, you know...
After a long day of engineering efforts at about midnight, your headquarters loosing function, when you're finally ready to put it all together and your head is already smoking from all the lists of materials and modules you need haul here and there, its just over the line of what I can or still want to handle in additional logistics!
And what kind of logic is this? I can't access it locally, but if I move to another system, they'll ship it post haste?
For half the re-buy cost?
Lock down suddenly doesn't apply?
This game is like working for FedEx all day and when you get home, there's no dinner as your fridge is locked, unless you move into a neighboring house, where you bizarrely *can* access your fridge, if you feel like waiting around long enough!

So, I see, this game has uncounted ways to prevent you from completing your engineering tasks...

That's why I keep all my stuff at Jameson Memorial - Shinrarta Dezhra is disconnected from BGS, so no lockdowns possible.

Try visiting another system and see if it changes anything; if it still is borked, put in a support ticket and explain everything. I'm amazed to hear it took 6 months for you last time, they are normally VERY fast and attentive, definitely the best support team I've dealt with for...anything ever, really. At worst my interactions with them have taken maybe 48 hours.
Do remember being polite and to the point tends to help with ticket prioritization, no matter where you go...make it simple to deal with and it'll get dealt with that much faster.![]()
So there's this thing called a Background Simulation...
