Same, I have to compel myself to play ED sometimes. There is something not right about that. It does feel like your punching in for work sometimes on the login screen.
Yea I don’t even get out of bed unless everything is my flavour of low hanging fruit and getting to the top doing nothing baby! I want it all, I want it now, and I want to do absolutely nothing for it! Gawd how do some of you even feed yourselves ?
Yeah, don't get me wrong. As a whole, such as it is, I think this game is amazing. It just kind of drives me nuts sometimes too. I'm not really so much of a gamer anymore these days, and to me the best elements of this game kind of feel like a more immersive sci-fi tech demo with gameplay elements. Even so, it's more compelling to me than most, if not all, other games. I trudge along through the weird and seemingly half baked gamey elements to enhance the other aspects of the game I enjoy.

hahahaha the funny thing is that people think that honk scoop jumping is more fun in a group than it is alone hahahahahahaha!

I can relate. 3.0 dropping pretty much killed it for most people who I enjoyed the company of in game. And the "I have to do it all again" vibe does tend to stick with you.
I've taken some time to do other things. Elite represents now about 6-9 hours a week or so of my time. I think they probably get that the level of grind is pushing people away, but this is the foundation the game is built on.
I think what is at play here, is exhaustion. Not from too much going on, just the endlessness of it. Frontier has had us racing from one thing to the next, lots of busy-work. Nobody said you can't love something, even if it's a chore.
The game is really good. It's just become very needy in the sense you can choose not do things, but of course that cuts out huge aspects of gameplay. So you do those things. There's a lot of means to an end.
That's not really a-typical for this franchise, to be fair. It's just that's where we are. 3.1 might redress the balance a bit, but we've heard that sort of thing before.
Just remember, there are materials traders and focusing on grade 5 mats gives you huge buying power for the rest needed. It can help reduce the burden and make your valuable time, go further.
I hope you can get out there, m8. Galaxy is still amazing to roll through.
ED has done what FDev set out to do, FDev is now AAA dev, and DB is a multimillionaire - I don't beleive them when they say "we are still passionate about ED".
3 years from now you'll be saying the same stuff - and I'll just continue to say "I told you so".
Strange. I find that I don't have to grind for anything. Each to their own I suppose. Maybe you need to look at you goals instead of just having them as upgrading your ship/s. There is a whole BGS and factions there to explore. But I suppose if you are not interested in that, then yes, there won'tbe much for you.I've practically given up on the main game. Just too much grind.. but it's all this game has to offer.. it's all about grind. What's the goal in this game? You want to have a ship - you grind to buy one - then you want to outfit the ship - you grind - then you want to engineer the ship - you have to unlock engineers - so you grind mats/buy stuff to unlock them - then you grind mats to upgrade your ship - then you grind more and more mats to upgrade every module - then weeks later you finally have fully upgraded ship.. and... then what? Another ship?
It all can be meaningful depending on what your goals are. But the issue is that you have to decide what your goals are. The game doesn't tell you what they are or how to go about them. There is no meaningful or exciting content in this game. Exploration gets dull after a short while, everything looks the same. Powerplay, people hide in solo and pg so you cannot really fight for power, it's more a grind again. PvP? That's fun, but no wait... combat loggers.
You don't have to grind in the main game to have fun unless all you want to do is direct PvP. As this game has never really been about that, I can see where the issue may arise. The game is predominantly PvE where PvP is possible. Sounds like you are not happy that the game is not something which it never said it was.CQC should get more love (fix bugs and better matchmaking system so you can see how many people queue and some voice/text comms in the lobby).
CQC so much fun to play. No owerpowered ships. You don't have to grind to have fun, because starter ship is not that much worse than top unlocked loadout.
Skill, experience and some luck is what gives you a win.

CQC gameplay should be brought into the main game - indeed it should have from the start, not a stand alone game. Fighter based mission gameplay (with NPC wingmen/foes) in some interesting/simple combat scenarios. If a couple of Powerplay tasks could then have used it, and CGs, then off we go. It could then have been used as an interested PvE and PvP mechanic.
ie: PvP = An OPEN only CG where you holo-me into a scenario against other players? Or a Powerplay task along the same lines...
All things are pointless in a game. It is just as much an imaginary goal or purpose as any other game. You can use it as such if you want to or not. The BGS is vital in making systems different, the real issue though is that you can't see the differences in the game apart from some text and such.Sorry mate, but BGS is even more pointless than Powerplay. I'm a member of minor faction that is present in nearly 50 systems (The Winged Hussars).
Why does it need to give you something. It's about thinking of others (NPC's) and not yourself. It can give you purpose. But I do think that it could be improved upon.I sometimes help with BGS (last one was taking control over Kamitra system). Some people in my wing like BGS but I don't really see the appeal.
So lets say your faction controls the system and then what? What does it give you? Nothing.
See above. It isn't about you.You can expand to another system? What for? You not gonna become Superpower and your area of influence doesn't even show on the map. What do you do it for? If this is your thing, then I'm happy for you.
