Where Do You Want To Park Your Fleet Carrier?

This is not meant to be a post on the costs or upkeep of an FC. I want a more optimistic ideal about them. Something we know is that FCs can jump 500ly at a time. And they can be modified tailored to Exploration, Mining, Bounty Hunting. Etc.

Where do you want to park yours?

I’m thinking of some good Haz Res locations, or going system-to-system in times of War having Combat Zones, and parking the FC next to these points of interests (assuming we can park it where we want in-system). Miners setting up a station in Borann near A 2. Even if not for where LTDs actually get sold, but a place to pick up limpets if you forgot to bring some on your return trip (happened to me too many times now...)
Hopefully, the upkeep isn’t too terrible, and the refueling doesn’t take ages, and explorers can take their FCs deep into the black, and people can coordinate way-points on the way to Colonia or other arms of the Galaxy.

Well I was thinking I could just take it out to an unexplored area and park it for a while in a system while I explored the surrounding area, using it to repair and etc while I explored, then move on to the next area, if leaving it parked for a few weeks at a time in one location leads to a lot of upkeep charges then that's a problem because I probably won't be earning big bucks at the time.

I hope it doesn’t have a large upkeep for this reason. I’d love to have one I can mod for explorations and be able to take all my ships with me wherever I decide to go.

This could also make engineering easier as they’re all usually within 500lys of each other. Depends on fuel costs and time to get them to see if it’s worth it going for them for something like this.

I want to put my FC where it will best serve the needs of my future visitors and customers, wherever I can be most useful and successful. As the residual claimant, I surely want to operate my FC in such a way that I am able to consistently satisfy all claims ahead of me and have something left over to invest back into the FC. I would like to provide my visitors and customers with a great experience and to improve that experience over time. o7

Some freinds and I had plans to just park 4 or 5 of them on the Neutron highway as close to the neutron stars as possible to offer places to quickly repair, refuel, sell cartographic data, and the like. Whether we do that or not will prolly depend on the upkeep costs and whether we need to be there or not to actively manage things.
Though that is not as useful as it would have been back when FC were originally announced. A lot of stations on the route to Colonia now.

I do suspect there will be a race to park near the rings of Borann A2 though. LOL

You can always park one out at Beagle Point. Another idea would be for the next big Distant Worlds expedition to park FC's en-route to act as rendezvous points for players where they can repair, sell data and resupply in necessary.

I'll park it in Achenar and call it "ALD vacuums". :p

I hope it's still true that we can't enter permit locked systems with our FCs.

Hopefully you can sell your exploration data which will pay for the upkeep.

Depnds on how they work really, so will have to wait and see.

But planning on going exploring with one rather than parking it anywhere.

If I ever have one (unlikely), I'll park it at the location of the current Buckyball Racing Club event most often.

That's a very good question. Considering I have 3 different accounts I've played over the years. The idea is one of them is an explorer, the other a war veteran, and one is more of a trader, I might work them all up to carriers over time, and the trader probably will be stationed somewhere to sell jump-fuel for carriers, if that's made possible. The explorer will move it deep, far out in space. Other side of SagA* probably.

I'll park my Vogon Constructor Fleet Carrier near Sol of course.

As you will no doubt be aware, the plans for development of the outlying regions of the Galaxy require the building of a hyperstpatial express route through your star system, and regrettably your planet is one of those scheduled for demolition. The process will take slightly less than two of your Earth minutes. Thank you.

Don't panic. 🤑

"Where Do You Want To Park Your Fleet Carrier?"

I suppose ideally the LMC; fortunately I probably won't bother with FCs in general, so not something I have to worry too much about not being able to do. ;)

I might help out with an exploration expedition FC here or there now and then though. We'll see.

Cheers.
