Why doesn't FD show more stuff of Odessey?

Because there is not much more to it than what has been shown.

Like for Horizon and all other minor updates. Fancy stuff shown in the trailers ? Well, that's 80% of it all.

Definitely supposed to be a 4th, I think it was "Assemble Your Crew".
Well, the 3rd was supposed to be the 4th (by the title). So either they skipped 3 because they were ahead of schedule ( :ROFLMAO: ), or they're doing them out of order, or they just decided not to do it.

Normally when they have one in the works they will say "it's in editing" etc in livestreams - this time they're saying nothing. So expect nothing. (Well, unless you want to be disappointed and outraged - which some seem to enjoy)

True, I guess the last official talk of videos was Arthur when announcing the delay:

Throughout this time we will continue to bring more news, videos and content of the development in progress. We would like to thank you all for the ongoing support and we are very excited to bring in this new era to the game with you. Your feedback, support and involvement is a vital part of this process and we are looking forward to a shared Alpha experience, which will be touching down very soon.

Voice to text stops any problems with odd at sea I find.

If they show too much we get too hyped and let down, if they show too little and surprise us we forget all about it, Frontier have always preferred the second option. Dont say anything about anything and its better for the player when they find it.

Thats the idea anyway. ,,
With frontier you see 200ft scalpels, 4 football teams, 2 cranes, 6 big haulers with materials, 2 foreman's but the project they reveal is no bigger than a waitress revealing your eggs Benedict!?

because the cynic in me says there isnt much to show... so it would be like watching a trailer that is actually the film.
If you look at some trailers, they give away 90% of the movie and their highlights.

I really hope Odyssey will be that groundbreaking thing FD is saying it is, the cynic in me however tells me not to hold my breath.
Well, here is to hoping the cynic is wrong.

If they show off their terrible ideas or backwards implementation of headline features now, there's still enough time that the community might get worked up enough to demand that they change it. If they show everything at the 11th hour and then go straight to release; we'll already be in "it is what it is" territory and they won't have to listen to feedback. Don't get me wrong - they don't have to listen to feedback under ANY circumstances; but the more feedback they receive, the more they have to ignore. You can't be accused of ignoring feedback when there isn't any, and the best way to avoid receiving feedback is to avoid putting out information.

Wouldn´t a month or two long alpha, and presumably beta, be precisely a bit counterproductive to that line of thought? I mean, if that was the way I rolled I might aswell just release without any testing at all, and feedback be darned.

Obviously any guess could turn out to be what they do but they have sold an Alpha & Beta premium package, they have to do those & have them be long enough (couple of weeks each at least say) to seem like they were worth the money. Probably will need to at least give the appearance of interest in the feedback they generate too.

Personally I'm sticking with my original estimate of 'something' being released before the end of the financial year (end of May?) whether that's just the start of Alpha in a poor state of playability or the 4.0 commercial release.

Why they aren't talking about it constantly is anyone's guess. Makes me think they don't know what features will be ready rather than not wanting to spoil a surprise.

So we are a couple of months away from the release, so they should have tons of material to show....but nothing, so far.

What do you think?

o7

I think you expect too much.

EDIT:: I do think its high time a release date is provided for the Alpha, its appropriate that people who have paid their money have their expectations set.

What month long Alpha?

For all we know the Alpha could be a single week(end) before the PC release so Frontier can stress test their servers.

Just managing expectations.

Its always been super easy to oversimplify what you have not been directly involved in. Even technical resources do it.

Darn! I obviously got sold some duff stuff...
All I see is a spaceship game, are you sure you are not confusing yourself with another permanent-alpha offering?
