Why doesn't FD show more stuff of Odessey?

Obviously any guess could turn out to be what they do but they have sold an Alpha & Beta premium package, they have to do those & have them be long enough (couple of weeks each at least say) to seem like they were worth the money. Probably will need to at least give the appearance of interest in the feedback they generate too.

Well, I suspect that reality will probably be somewhere in between the "best alpha ever", where each and all feedback from us will be actioned, and your "FDEV doesnt care at all" rather cinic view of the same.

If previous alphas/betas are to be use as guidance I would imagine some key elements of the update are pretty much locked in and not subject to change be it for budgetary, design or technical reasons. While others will be more likely open for feedback, actual change and rebalancing during the alpha.

FDEV has a vested interest in us liking Odyssey. After all it will only sell well if it is good and the market, us, likes it. So it is not completely whacky to consider that they actually take into account some of our feedback.

Sure, as I said any guess could turn out to be what they do. But you said:
I might aswell just release without any testing at all, and feedback be darned.

They have taken money for those Alpha & beta sessions, not doing them isn't an option. Whether they are short or long, poor quality or practically ready to roll is pure guesswork until it actually arrives & even then it will be subjective.

Agree that all we know is that we know nothing, but that is a bit of a truism 🤷‍♂️ .

The point is simply that is not too outrageous to base reasonable judgements and expectations on previous FDEV track record plus the fact FDEV has a vested interest in us liking Odyssey. Obviously nothing is guaranteed in life, except death and taxes, but that extreme line of thought would ignore how things went in all previous ED´s alpha/beta occasions to date.

But you understand there will definitely be an Alpha & a Beta right? In name even if not for actual feedback & development.

Not having them at all isn't one of the many things that could happen because they have taken money for those features. It's one of very few things pinned down about the product that has been sold.

I just checked their store and you're right, no mention of a beta there :) Does that mean there might not be an Alpha then?
I think it mentions Alpha a few times :)

( I wouldn't be surprised if fdev 're-imagined' the usual Beta as an Alpha to complete with that other unreleased space game. It's the 21st century, words have new meanings here ;) )

Why are you trying to tell people what to think - are you .... God? Or maybe just Dog? Bad doggie! Go play with the kiddies!
Ah ah you got trapped, you were the one that "have to tell to others what is good arguing about and what's not" not me,now reset your little brain and try again, kiddy :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I thought exactly the same! Maybe they called Beta "Alpha" to make a little mockery of this second unreleased game. Something like "Hey! See what our Alpha looks like!". And this is not the only case as they made fun of t-posing NPCs and a copied Asp Explorer. (But that's just my guess!)

From my (considerable) time here, I can tell you why .... it's our fault.

Frontier have been burned too many times by telling us more than they wanted, and answering one question, raises ten more. The complaints would start before the expansion is even released. It's going to bad enough for them just with the Alpha and Beta phases. They'll be inundated with feedback, and complaints, so best to control that as much as possible, and one way to control the amount of complaints is to control the information that is released.

So yes, it IS our fault.

That is victim blaming, what what
