Why Frontier are wrong to keep nerfing high credit earning methods.

it doesnt take a newcommer long to see a pattern on these forums , almost everyone who approves of these nerfs has the "elite" tag next to thier name. pretty much pointing to the fact they have been doing the forum puritanical war against anything that might speed up progress in game for new players for quite some time.

lets all take a moment to reflect on how lucky we are that these long time "pro's" are around to make sure we all have to endure the full asain style grind fest to its maximum just so we can be as rightous and pure as them when/if we get to a point where we have nice things to enjoy the game.

I'm this much Elite:

Now, I'm a father of two and have a job and a wife to attend, and I DON'T share any rush to get to Elite, the corvette or all that crap you and Obsidian Ant say it is needed to enjoy the game.

Be careful with those wagers. Stealthie wound up eating his hair not that long ago.

Not sure if he took my advise to bake it into a pie or not....

Theres nothing like finding little curly hairs in between yer teeth to say ye should have checked the ingredients of that pie before shovelling it down yer gullet ^

You were the one using the word fact, not me.

And as to "progress" in the game, it is far faster these days. It took me three months to go from sidewinder to Cobra, when these days it can be done in a few hours. That sir is a fact whether you like it or not. Whether it is fast enough is down to the individual. Personally I think it is.

heres your direct quote "" That makes you pretty ignorant of the facts then. "Progress" in the game is already stupidly fast anyway. And my main ship is a DBX and at times I fly a Cobra which you can get in an afternoon these days. After that progressions stops and it's all about choices.

who am i to judge what anyone should or shouldnt find fun. thats subjective and down to the individual is it not.. but clearly you have some defined answers so why not enlighten us all?

Exactly. When I saw the skimmer mission payouts, I said ‘nah not for me’ it’s too much. I’d like somewhere in the 15mil/hr range to balance my grind. But if some noob want to get an A rated conda unengineered with a harmless combat rating and pull me out of supercruise, have at it. Hope you’ve got a rebuy 😂

That was reply to your use of the word:

Or did you forget that you wrote that. I was pointing out your own ignorance of your facts.

My bad, I should have put a return in, hence your confusion.

And I fly a shieldless ASP Scout, I'm prolly one of the 3 guys in ED using this ship lol

It is one of the ships I haven't tried yet. My issue is that it looks too much like an AspX which I loath.

i,m a father and also have a job and wife ( not that i subscribe to the view that that adds any weight to my arguements but whatever since we,re "sharing") I at no point said anything is "required" to enjoy the game and to the best of my knowledge neither did obsidian ant.
my point is what is and isnt required to enjoy the game is dictated by the individuals own prefrence is it not? you feel corvettes etc are not required for YOU to enjoy the game. However does that mean you get to say therefore nobody should feel these things ar not required to enjoy the game? who made you the arbiter of whats required for enjoyment. why should you feel its your duty to impose your dictats of whats required to have fun on anyone else?

even if you have kids and a job blah blah

Heretic! :p I love my AspX. For exploration anywho. You and I are about the same in exploration (I’m finally about a tick away from pioneer) what’s you’re preference there? DbX? Haven’t flown one myself.

My main issue with all of these arguments is that there is no knowing that you will enjoy the corvette until you get one. You could do all the grinding to get it thinking that it will open the game up for you (it doesn't, all you need is a cobra) and you could hate the ship.

In my view it is always best to try to enjoy the journey to your goals, as the journey will be most of the gameplay anyway and your goal may not be as good as you thought it would be. Even if it means it takes double or triple the time.

Yep, DBX or the Dolphin. Thinking of getting an Orca to try out in the future too. Also hoping the krait can be fitted for exploration too as I really like the look of that ship.

I have never, ever, said someone need or doesn't need anything in the game. I'm just one of those who 'don't have all the time to play the game', the same group just you are defending with the argument of those who think/want/need access to all the content quicker/easier/faster for whatever reason.

PS: See? I gave you all my detz in game, if you need more please ask, I'm not a thread for you in or outside of the game, but still don't trust you. Now, if you stop playing devil's advocate and start sharing your opinion once and for all, that'd be great. Generalism and veiled questions are something that will not get us to any goal.

(I know it wasn’t at me but I wanted to say something as well) yes the journey to your goal(s) in this game is important. And 300mil an hour is a bit excessive. But with the addition of wing missions there is comparatively slim pickings for the solo player mission wise now. So a bump in payments is in order me thinks. But say a corvette is your goal (it’s mine, got to crew in one and it’s just grabbed my attention since) you’ve still got to make rear admiral to do so. Credits for the ship itself is a comparatively minor part of the grind, especially if you want to engineer it. And you have to gain knowlage of what mods do what and how best to kit it. The rank and skill part of that journey is way bigger than the credit grind.

wow, my quotes kept stacking for some reason, sorry bout that lol. Cleared them now I think. I forgot about the dolphin. Had one when I was on Xbox. Might have to pick one up again, change of scenery when out deep in the black :)

Yep nothing worse than grinding for 3 years to get a ship then you find out its not for you... and we wonder why people use get rich quick schemes.

While I think wing missions are a great idea, I think they have gone the wrong way with them. All missions should be shareable and have the rewards shared, not duplicated. It doesn't make sense for an employer to double or triple rewards like that.

Then it should be much easier to balance out the rewards.

Then don't grind, but enjoy the journey instead. Talk about trying to ruin your own game.

you have a point on which i can agree in that having the notion that simply getting a corvette will suddenly make you enjoy the game may well be misguided.. i,m sure in some cases its true.. however that doesnt mean me you or anyone else should feel entitled to say therefore its not a valid point of view to have. my main concern with all these things is simply the whole idea of a group of long term players on forums coming up with this group think idea of what is the "correct " or acceptable" notion of what is or isnt needed to find fun in the game. and therefore seeking to make sure that any way for people to progress towards their own preferential way or enjoying the game be slowed down or hampered.

the game has plenty of grinds left there to make sure everyone "earns their fun" ( if thats what concerns you) like naval ranks and material grinds etc.. credits alone isnt the only time gate to stop newcommers having nice things.

i simply despise elitism in games and on forums in all its guises . and will always speak up against anyone trying to impose their ideas of what should and shouldnt be fun on anyone else.

Yeah that would be a good way to implement wings for sure. Someone else had suggested moving them to their own board like the passenger missions too.

First, Obsidian Ant doesn't say that you have all that stuff to enjoy the game, but for some it is. For some players, having enough credits to buy the ship they want is how they want to enjoy the game.

Secondly, I totally agree with you that you don't need all the stuff and ships to enjoy the game. My first account, I have all ships and lotsa credits. And that's fun. My second account, my wealth is 30 mil only and have 4 ships, and enjoy playing that account as well, with the intent of not making credits a goal at all. So there are many ways of enjoying this game.
