Will you ditch the Python for the Chieftain

I think the only thing that would retire the Python would be a functionally equivalent alternative with different styling. I would like to see a lot of the current favorites get competitors that only vary in styling choices. GM/Chevy/Buick style.

Maybe? But my beloved Pupule Pua'a is a proper Netflix heavy cruiser - barely have to pay attention to get where I need.

And, if it 'replaces' either the FAS or FGS... grrr... I'm almost done A-rating G5-geering the FAS, but have yet to test-drive in proper combat. The FGS is sat in the dock, sad, lonely, E-rated.

The Crusader doesn't look like a ship that I can fly into a high intensity CZ with 200 tons of cargo on board, kill fools for 30 minutes and then carry on to finish my delivery, so it's a no from me. Obviously I'll have to check it out when I can though.

You can do that with several ships.

Was hoping for a multipurpose ship, so I am kind of disappointed.

It looks great and sounds better though! Combat-only players will be happy.

I'm at work and can't watch it right now. :(

But I'm going to watch it the second I get home, so I'll let you know! :D

Sorry Mengy, C5 FSD. Not a big jump range, no numbers given. On the bright side, you'll love the planets. :D

But hot darn, that thing is agile as heck, looks and sounds great, very nice hardpoint placement. I dont care about the range, I'll go exploring in it anyway.

update: 19LY with combat build and no mods. That is actually surprisingly good...

It’s allright, Frontier lauded it as a combat ship so I really didn’t expect much range on it. Maybe the next new ship will be more suitable for me. Or maybe the one after the Krait. Maybe someday, lol.

The big hope I have now is that the Chieftain has a cargo capacity to give the Python some competition!

Nope....

Module slots are 2x5, 1x4, 2x2, the remaining 3 are military slots.

Curious to know what folks thoughts are now after seeing the ship on the live stream. :p
Hard to say, I didn't see any combat take place, so it's difficult to put speed/agility into context.
However, looks to be more of a FAS contender/replacement than Python replacement.

No, it really is a super-agile, fixed-weapon dogfighter. But it has enough slots for exploration gear and multi-purpose stuff, and the range is better than I expected. It seems you can go to about 35-40LY stripped I guess.

So I just watched the Stream ... no, I will not ditch the Python for the Chieftain .. I'll have both!
That Chieftain is about to become my primary combat vessel .. <3
