If this is asia there are only 2 major regions leftSo it is looking like an Asia Pack? Are we really seeing the full return of geographic packs
That would such a cool pack idea but how does the wolverine, takin or sloth bear connect to it
Its not asian animals its just those animals in particular almost nothing new to the game just some more ungulates and carnivores great for the regional diversity but ultimately boring inclusions.
They are definitely hiding something since there was almost zero discussion of the free update.
Yeah this makes me think there is something else behind the scenes they also never show all the animals for an animal pack so 4 is too be expected if it is an animal pack.
The livestream felt very disjointed the room theming didnt match up with the animal picks the way they were described was clunky at best and some of the biomes didnt really match what people think the animal is. Overall it was weird and underwhelming side note I did call the idea of nature documentary the second they said discover.
In my opinion it has the worst of both worlds. The people who want more diversity hate this pack and arid for being too ungulate and carnivoran heavy liked oceania because of the two birds and other unique oceanic animals. whereas the people who hate oceania because of realism hate the saiga.
I personally dont like this roster not because the saiga is uncommon couldnt care less about captive status I dont like it because nothing is unique we dont need another ungulate heavy pack especially after arid we need more birds, reptiles any other mammals beside the same 2-3 orders give us some monkeys, lagomorphs, rodents anything else besides more ungulates. Thats the only reason I dont like the line up if it turns out we get a combination of lizards bird and monkeys for the other half of the pack Ill gladly welcome the pack.My thoughts exactly. This I dont hate the animal I think they are all reasoanble but if all we are getting is ungulates and carnivorans I will be mad because there is no diversity in that.
I agree most people forget that the game doesnt only apply to the western world and that asian people have wants to but may not be as easily or as vocal in expressing them. Also its not that we hate asia we just hate certain animals.
They are just upset people are hating on their favourite pack again. This is by far the least toxic community I have seen wanna see toxic go look at the sims.
She made it clear where she was picking was random and they are all mostly centred on the map anyways.Just because Lydia is putting memos on the map close to Asia, doesn't mean all the animals are from Eurasia, is it? I mean if the first animal IS a takin, why sticking the notes around North Africa
yeah the dichotomy between what we think in terms of the animals and what was in the room makes no sense.
Im thinking the exhibit will either be a cobra or the giant salamander.
I will cry tears of immense sadness we dont need a pack of only ungulates and carnivorans the two most represented groups in the game please give us anything else I beg you frontier anything else.
anything but more ungulates but seriously people are pretty clear on more birds and monkeys its hard to miss
yep we all have a flair for the dramatic but are all going to get the pack anyways.

Interesting that each of the 4 teased animals are from different Asian regions. Maybe we get something from Western Asia and South East Asia too? Although the arid and tropical packs brought animals from those missing regions. Maybe they complete the pack making it an Eurasia pack with:
1 animal from Southern Europe
1 animal from Western Europe
1 animal from Eastern Europe
(the wolverine works for Northern Europe)
The livestreams always bring more questions than answers
I honestly hoping for something interesting in the exhibit.
Yeah people are fine to dislike something but the slander that poor monkey gets is unreasonable especially when it has a significant connection to the asian player base.
judging by the pack roster it will guaranteed make it in along with the pallas cat and the black buck to make the pack all ungulates and carnivorans.
Cause thats a to low hanging fruit for me, why post some pictures for some easy likes when you could also educate yourself on them, their captive presence and summarise the most interesting parts from wikipedia for the forum?

i’m not sure the takin is a sure bet. The Wisent also fits the description given in the livestream, and was what I immediately thought of until everyone jumped on the Takin train. While it could be either, I wouldn’t rule the Wisent out.
The Wolverine lived in Pleistocene times, and so fits this pack well.
The Sloth Bear I’m not sure of, but there were bears around in the Ice Age, admittedly the Spectacled Bear would be a MUCH better inclusion.
The common raccoon dog also looks like a raccoon!!
Their fault for choosing crappy animals, if they picked a spec or abb the chat would have been roaring, not my problem when their choice of bear is only marginally better then the european brown bear
It could very well be things they just happened to have lying around the office (both books are things they probably would have around for reference). But it would still strike me as really weird to showcase books about natural history and evolution and not tie that in somehow...
ok so interesting observation I dont think the words free update 1.16 were ever mentioned in the livestream with the only mention of anything being the gift shops. Also based on what they are saying with the gifts shops basically being tillable and module what is the bet they are hiding something from us about the free update Im thinking modular exhibits.
Id riot over modular exhibits, but in the good way
I now moved to the Sloth Bear camp, now that it saved us from the EBB. Long live the sloth bear!
Why isn't I genuinely want an unique canid enough?
I mean: Tanukis captive presence: They are in a couple zoos in North America, many in Asia, They are one of the most basal canids, their structure of their skull resembles crab-eating foxes, they climb trees (ONLY the grey fox also does it habitually). They look unlike anything else we have in game as far as dogs go with their proportionately shorter legs... They are in danger of humans for being an invasive species in Europe and having somewhat useful fur. They play a huge role in culture upto the Modern age (Mario with the coon hat AND Animal Crossing). They eat fruits... They live near water alot of the time.

Also our fault for voting the sloth bear into the top 50 animals of the metawishlist.
Honestly - for me its a combination of them being another canine, and one I've never seen irl.
