Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

How would people feel about the yellow throated marten in this pack? Its easily among the most versatile possible candidates and one of the few carnivorans i wouldnt be kinda annyoed by if it was revealed tomorrow
I've made no secret that the yellow-throated marten is my most-wanted animal in the game, but I'd be incredibly surprised if it was one of the three new animals - it would need more work creating than most of the other animals revealed so far. Unfortunately I think, apart from the slim chance of a general forest pack coming with one in the future, that the marten has missed its chance to be in the game. But I guess it was a long shot anyway, and it has got into the top 80 species on the meta wishlist, so that's something.

It is very strange that many members of the community of this forum complain to the point of tragedy about the animals that are going to be introduced in the game through the next DLC. After a year in which the DLCs contained only exotic animals for those living in the northern hemisphere, Frontier brings a package with animals specific to the Eurasian area. A DLC that was needed. Animals from South America are strongly requested, but South America is extremely well represented now in the game with most of the large species specific to the continent. A few small monkeys are missing, which, due to their size, would not even be too visible in the game, being more suitable for the exhibition mechanics. Europe and Asia do not yet have their own defining species: Saiga (NA had, since the launch of the game, Pronghorn), Takin, Gaur, Yak, Muskox, Markhor, European Bison, Wild Boar, Roe deer, Chamois, Mouflon and even the European Brown Bear, which is much smaller and thinner than the Grizzly. They are not so exotic for those who live in the northern hemisphere, but they define the fauna of the area where they live and many are animals with a unique appearance.
It is hard to understand the hatred and rejection of the presence of such species in the game!
You lost me at "South america is extremly well represented"

Are we expecting the wolverine to be the animal with the most complicated rig in this pack or could there be something more unique among the 3 habitat species left out? So far nothing feels super complicated but they might have gone all in on piggyback riding for bear cubs and a wolverine that feels like its own thing.
In both the grassland and arid they teased with the more complicated animal of the pack, which makes me think the rest of this pack is just more with hoofs and sharp teeth. Yet every animal pack had at least one animal with a taxonomy standing a bit more out from the rest. A waterfowl rig would be a lifesaver for whatever this concept is.

It is funny that some have very different views on the dumpster fire that is south america but I understand where they are coming from. South America does in fact have the majority of their large species which excludes animals from the pampas and primates, the problem with south america isn't their large animals (deer, camelids and the spectacled bear could be argued the last remaining) but the medium and small animals that make up the bulk of zoo collections.

The Frustration for me is not that im not getting what i wanted, cause i actually do, i wanted 3/4 animals so far, my frustration is that it feels like frontier is blind and deaf to the communitys biggest wants by activly avoiding adding birds and SA animals at any point for what?
More ungulates and carnivorans?
From africa and asia?
Don't know where your getting your info from, but if the meta wishlist--which Frontier clearly pays attention to--is anything to go by, there really isn't a particular bias in the people's demands... seems there's just as many carnivorans and ungulates from Africa and Asia as there is anything else on there...

Also, wouldn't it make more sense to wait until the pack is fully revealed before complaining about its contents?

Its also kinda similar to india in a way. Like how they have the majority of their star, headliner, big ticket, whatever you wanna call it animals but barely any of the more lowkey filler animals to actually build a zoo section with

Regarding the Saiga, as much as I am not a fan of it, there is no argue that alof of people want to see it in game. I mean, it has 115 votes on the META-wishlist alone and that does not include alot of casuals that probably could not care less if something is found in captivity.

I do hope there will be some kind of surprise still, like a monkey or bird.

The saiga seems to have quite a strange running posture, with its head held much lower than other gazelles. Then again, other unique gazelle behaviours, like the bipedal standing of the dama gazelle and pronking in general were not included, so they may decide to simply give them the standard gazelle rig and leave it at that.

How about reading these forums or or posting a pic of a monkey on reddit?
Both will make it very clear that infact yes people do want birds and SA animals over anything else.
The meta wishlist is very flawed when it comes to animal groups that are very desired but massivly underrepresented.
You can have 500 votes spread over 10 monkey species, and they will still be shown under an animal with only 50-60 votes which is more recogniseable as an individual.
SA monkeys alone got white faced saki, squirrel monkey, golden lion tamarin, cotton top tamarin, emperor tamarin, a howler monkey and a spider monkey as animals generally agreed upon that all should be in the game.
Thats 7 monkeys from SA alone, combined with the fact that most people like to vote for things that arnt SA monkeys aswell the, most likly only voted for 1-3 of them, not to mention that the meta wishlist ist hideously outdated.
I for sure would put all 7 on my new list even if my current one just has white faced saki and emperor tamarin

Mugger croc for taxonomical diversity it seems.
We havent got true crocodile since start of the game. And whats important is another india rep.

Maybe this time there's nothing which is very complicated in terms of rigs but they have put more effort in creating the modular gift shop and new animations or, fingers crossed, new enrichment items. We'll see soon.

Good morning everyone!
Are you all ready?

I've read most of it now, not all of it lol.
The good thing is: If you don't expect anything from the start, you can't be disappointed. Surely a small part of me was hoping for a bird animal pack but yeah, then not.

I think all 4 animals are solid, nothing that's on my favorites list, but I can do something with them sooner or later. At this point I am particularly happy for @Pentoleaf . I fell in love with the sloth bear a little bit, it's certainly similar to the other two bears, but somehow completely different. And hey, we can now build a “Junglebook Area” in our zoos. Now all the animals have to be there, right?

It doesn't look that bad, does it?

Others could be:
*Golden Pheasent
*Tanuki
*Jap. Serow
*LTM
*Markhor

Everything now depends on what the other animals are

And the Update could be really cool as well:
*Giftshops
*Some Animals could carry their Babies
*Peaflowl Variants and Piebaldism?

That's nice... but since they're clearly using the Meta Wishlist as a primary source of inspiration--arguably the most stable way of determining peoples demands--what you said doesn't matter all that much... maybe instead of posting on Reddit and then coming here to whine, people should come here and vote?
