Winter DLC Speculation

I really love the spectacled caiman! Their model is the best from crocodilians (except for the american alligator, that beast is the best), i really love them
I love them, but we don't need two caimans. And honestly, the dwarf caiman requirements are 10 times that of real dwarf caiman exhibits.

We should've gotten the spectacled caiman in the aquatic pack, and the dwarf caiman as an exhibit or not at all.

We've got pretty close lists. I've been hoping for Mountains since Conservation, and here is my prediction/wishlist that I posted in the Tazmanian Devil speculation thread. I didn't think I could get away with 2 ungulates, else I would have gone with Guanaco or Takin. Maybe Klipspringer?

Tasmanian Devil - top meta list (also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tasmanian_Central_Highland_forests)
Spectacled Bear - carnivore megafauna
Markhor - mountain ungulate from past zoo tycoon games, pairs with snow leopard areas
Gelada - popular primate
Pallas Cat - the "meme" animal plus adding another small cat to game
Greater Rhea - SA Bird choice
Alpine Marmot - rodent for taxa diversity
Mangshan Pit Viper - lack of Asian exhibit animals + snake with theme

We members of Team Gulo Gulo will have no nerves left if our Feistiness gets left out of third pack they’d be great for.
When you're a small burly carnivorous mammal renowned for feistiness and you've been left out of three packs you'd have fit perfectly into

Rheas lives in mountains? I always saw more grassland animals, even dweller near from deserts
Puna rheas (which are usually regarded as a subspecies of the lesser rhea but sometimes as their own species) typically live 3,000-4,500 metres above sea level, while the nominate lesser rhea and greater rhea mostly inhabit lowlands below 1,500 metres.

One could say the same about the 2 tigers, 2 rhinos, 2 chimps, 2 brown bears so on. Imo the spec. filled an empty niche as a medium sized crocodilian

We needed two tigers, they just gave us the wrong one. The Bengal should have been the Sumatran.

We need more than two rhinos.

We don't have two chimps. We have one chimpanzee subspecies and a bonobo.
Chimps and Bonobos are both in the genus Pan so they are waayy more closely related than caiman crocodilurus and paleosuchus palpebrosus, the two crocodilians in question. I mean yeah bonobos are not true chimps, but they are so very close them.

Also what we "need" is really a personal thing mostly. I would be totally fine with just one tiger, the cimp and african rhino. People just have different opinions. I for example think we needed a medium size croc more than the nile crocodile that a lot of people were asking for

In this case it's not really two caimans as it is five crocodiles, which compared to "two chimps" or "two rhinos" could reasonably be seen as excessive by those unbothered by the differences.

Most can tell the difference between a gorilla and a chimpanzee and an orangutan though they are all 'apes', but I'd wager a good many people wouldn't see a significant difference between any of the five crocodilians even when it's obvious (gharial snout, dwarf caiman size, and so on). They do all follow the same behavioural patterns, after all, and not just in the game, but in real life, too. Zoos don't advertise their diverse collections of crocodilia, but they do advertise when they have several species of primates or big cats or even ungulates to some degree.

Since the entire topic rests on subjective opinion anyway, I wouldn't blame someone for saying we don't need "two caimans". In any case it's not as though that opinion is unpopular - the spectacled caiman was certainly an unwelcome surprise when the Wetland Pack was revealed, as evidenced by the several comments and threads made about it. Personally it has grown on me, but that's mostly because the dwarf caiman is absurdly difficult to build a realistic habitat for.

^ If it were up to me I'd absolutely fill the Zoopedia with what many would consider "reskins". You'd be looking at three more brown bears, at least two more tigers, probably two more leopards, five more gibbons, heck, a dozen more crocodiles, why not? I love diversity of choice practically as much as I love unique species. Generally I tend to stick to the species I see regularly at the zoo myself (which is limiting in some ways) or that I know exist wherever I'm building (which is freer), but even so; I could see myself building "Crocodile Kingdom" or something just for the fun of it, a veritable wall of crocodile habitats.

I mean with an "invinite" lifetime of pz i would totaly support that. But my guess is that 2023 will be the last year of content, so i would rather see animals/animalgroups that are completely lacking atm than another brown bear or asiatic lions for example

I finally finished the new career scenario tonight and unless I missed something, I don’t believe the ending actually hints towards the Himalayas at all. Part of the scenario involves taking in and breeding a Himalayan brown bear that a misguided but animal-loving small time celebrity previously had, and at the end it’s stated that she is going to try and get properly accredited to handle animals by shadowing one of Nancy’s staff members. Absolutely nothing about anyone going to the Himalayas, or anything even referencing the Himalayas in any capacity beyond it being part of the name of an animal that has been around since the base game. Honestly, I’m really confused how anyone could’ve gotten anything else out of the text. I mean, maybe some languages’ translations are much more loose with the script, or maybe I genuinely did miss something somehow, but I kind of doubt it.
