Winter DLC Speculation

@Urufu1997 The Christmas Island Red Crab (CIRC), this is such a great idea for an exhibit animal. I've struggled with connecting this theme for the season of release, other than to say that more people from the Northern Hemisphere go on island vacations to escape the cold weather. And I've struggled with an exhibit animal that wasn't he Tuatara, so this is really a perfect exhibit animal.

Tasmanian Devil
Fossa
Kiwi
"surprise animal" or Raccoon Dog or Tree Kangaroo, though I'd like to see an animal from the Caribbean be represented, so that we have that side of the world as well.
CIRC (Exhibit)

Let's have at it Frontier!
I like your island pack, but I would make it an animal pack

Tasmanian Devil
Any Wallaby
Fossa
Kiwi
Tree Kangaroo
Racoon Dog
Emu
Lord Howe Island stick insect reused, but i would prefer Butterfly walkthrough exhibits

This would be an amazing DLC and probably one of my favourite packs.
It seems very Australia/Oceania heavy, but since the twilight pack was pretty much a second NA pack, this shouldn't be an issue, because the Racoon Dog is from Japan and the Fossa from Madagaskar to give some variety.

Nice pack. But for me Australia is a continent and not an island. The Emu and the wallaby (even if there is one species living on new Guinea) should be excluded thats why in my opinion. It would be somehow nice if we could get 7 animals from 7 Different isles:

Madagascar: Fossa
Tasmania: Tasmanian Devil
New Guinea: Tree Kangaroo (Matschie or Goodfellow)
New Zealand: Kiwi
Japan: Raccon Dog or Japanese Serow
Hawaii: Nene
Sicilia: African Crested Porcupine
Any exhibit

Fun fact about the Raccoon Dog: After reading about it on wikipedia I have learnt that they belong to the Vulpini group and are in fact foxes which means we could get our fourth fox.

That's a good choice then! And I learned about a new (to me) animal today. Thank you!
Solenodons are awesome (I mean how can a mammal with a venomous bite not be awesome) and surprisingly big, large enough to be a habitat animal, but unfortunately they're extremely rare in captivity. As of now I think the only place that keeps them is the National Zoological Park of the Dominion Republic (which has at least two Hispaniolan solenodons), so they're as rare in zoos as wild water buffalo.

So many Species in there that I really need👍
Especially the Raccoon Dog for my japanese Zoo but I also desperately need all of the australian Animals and the Kiwi even already has a finished Enclosure in one of my Zoos

How could I not know about that already. Ok, 3 Fox Enclosures then in my next Zoo (Red Fox, Silver Fox, Tanuki)

Wow, only one Zoo. At least more common than the Titan Beetle 🙃

Didn’t even THINK about the crested porcupine. Wow, they need to be included in EVERYONE’S lists now!

I would disagree, for an Islands Pack, and has been pointed out to me before about the Raccoon Dog as well. They do exist on islands but on mainlands as well. In fact with the Porcupine it's much more common on the mainland than an island. I would seem out of place, despite how popular it would be.

I frankly disagree. I personally don't see the point of an island pack if we include animals that mainly live outside of islands. By that logic, pretty much every species on the META wishlist can be found on some island.

I think the tanuki is fine, since it is endemic to Japan. Perhaps it lives on the mailand now (not sure where tho), but it originated as a purely Japanese species.

That makes sense, and they're much more closely associated with Japan than any other country or region.

General question to anyone - are there any bats that are endemic and largely just on islands? Google was of limited help, though that could be the wording I was using. Anyone more familiar with bats know if this would be the case? Preferably New World Bats, but any would work. I'm just trying to get away from the concept of making it largely a Southeast Asia/Oceania island pack, which is why I'm adamant the Fossa be included.

Rodrigues fruit bat and the Livingstone’s fruit bat spring to mind.

If the twilight animal pack would have been an animal pack (should have been this, and not a halloween-stylished theme scenery) for me would have been something like this:
-Raccoon
-Common Wombat
-Red Fox
-Striped Skunk
-Red River Hog
-Ocelot
-Tasmanian Devil

-Egyptian Fruit Bat

Rodrigues flying-fox is the standout for me, they’re one of the most common flying-fox species in captivity and they’re found only on the island of Rodrigues in the Indian Ocean (which would make them be considered African in-game).

EDIT: markun beat me to it

Was pretty sure it isn't and looked it up on Wikipedia to be entirely sure. As I thought already their Original Habitat already included Mainland Asia. You're probably specifically thinking about the japanese Subspecies

New Zealands only native Land Mammal (If you don't count Seals) is a Bat. Don't know though if the Species is kept in Zoos

The Japanese raccoon dog is actually a separate species from the mainland raccoon dog.
Looked it up again to see if I'm right that they are the same Species. Zootierliste.de lists it as a Subspecies (Nyctereutes procyonoides viverrinus)

Fascinating. Thanks. Didn't know about that. They should update the Data on their Site then. Should've also looked on the english Wikipedia 😅 (the German one doesn't have a Site for the Japanese Raccoon Dog)
AFAIK Zootierliste and Wikipedia are similar in that they are (mostly) updated by the public, but Wikipedia requires a bunch of citations and such which makes it more credible.

Just looked it up. The New Zealand lesser short-tailed bat at least isn't kept in any EAZA Zoos. Wouldn't be suitable for Walkthrough Exhibits anyways because they stay on the Ground a lot which might get dangerous for them
