Remember too that there was a point in ED where Cmdrs lost their exploration data from migration, very early on. There was a similar blip later on as well. They said they fixed it, but not really, so it’s accurate to accept some historical exploration data got wiped. I seem to remember thinking, if the myth of Brookes statement was valid, had that supposed discovery also been wiped too - coincidence? But twas only an idle memory,

Certainly, since only about 5-10% of total activity and maybe 33% of long-range exploration activity is fed to it. The first discoverer/mapper on EDSM often will be the second or third or tenth in-game.

You can also get situations where a system was scanned/mapped on EDSM but the CMDR never made it back to sell so it remains unmapped in game. But that's far rarer, of course.

Still, Emperor's screenshots are I think fairly conclusive for "this system has been surveyed extensively".

That is logged on the CoR data collection spreadsheet as "D-Day warning message in French" - so it's a known beacon. I believe (could be misremembering) that it was found prior to the Thargoid attacks a few years back.

Millions of systems where the data is either incomplete or just not existing, just run EDMS with RSE (Red Star Eliminator) anywhere in the galaxy and you won't lack for targets. ED Astro lists 1.8m systems without coordinates and over 17m systems with no main stars listed, and that's just what's actually sent in through EDDN. I've been working my way through them but it may take a few weeks to get that 17m down!

Really? Interesting - i thought this was a witchspace sound. Ya i have been bouncing around recording witchspace jumps toward and away from galactic center (didnt go all the way there)- also other directions…. Then opening up in Audacity, Spek, and Sonic Visualizer…. So far havent found any strange distinct shapes in the waveform . There have been some faint repeating circular ones…. But everything too faint to make something of. Im heading back to bubble at the moment - will try some more around there.

OK OK! You're totally on the right track Since you're looking for it anyway try this:

1) Record jumps (which you're doing).
2) Open in Audacity spectrogram view:

Your "colours" settings might be different to mine, so have a play.

You're looking at first for the D7 object. But don't stop there... That's just a hint, it's not the end of the search. Play around.

I wasn't trying to pull anyone's leg. I'd take them to dinner first . Seriously though. I never got the 'congratulation' message until a day or two later when I handed in my data. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I can't go back in time. Even in elite.

Hypothetically, how do we plan to run the Raxxla search if things go sideways? There was a lot of very ominous foreshadowing in the last GalNet. Keep in mind this is coming from the optimist who thought the old lore wasn't incompatible with Elite Dangerous. Should the worse happen, would there be regional (galactic) teams coordinating for specific regions? We still have the gap of 66 years starting in 2230. It could be anywhere.

@Louis Calvert Is it possible what you found is a map based on shapes of the Milky Way's Great Rift? Providing Incan image from the Wikipedia article as reference. There is a serpent and a few other creatures. The idea might still be viable if we can anchor it (besides you do have era of rapid expansion working in your favor with the 66 year gap).

It's in Segin. The only planetary body about 20k out. All the other bodies are stars. I will be on later and go back and take a picture.

I was thinking maybe the door opens at certain times and had thought, if my notoriety was high, I could sit and watch if the door opened while my notoriety dropped.

This has cropped up in three consecutive Impact Sites now. A strange apparently unmanned pyramidal structure, with some oblong cargo containers (but not lootable canisters) nearby and always a wrecked dish-satellite outside. There seem to be no doors, but there are flashing red or green lights...
