I think save for PZ2 Deluxe, it's well liked and a ZT2 animal but there are other more important picks to get like a hyrax.

Not the most needed goat, so not essential. But some ungulate from the Eurasian mountains should be in the base game, unline in PZ1, that's for sure...
I would say the markhor is essential, but to offset that I think the ibex should be dlc animal.
If base game has the markhor and snow leopard for PZ2 you already have good Himilayan animals, now add on to the fact you can show off the predator and prey dynamic and I’d say you are doing good.

Also scatch what I said about the next animal releasing at 11 I'm just gonna post my results and the next animal at the same time going forward to make it easier for myself.
I chose to put the Markhor in Essential for the PZ2 Base game. Like others have said the model and design is really good so it shouldn't need a lot of work to import over. Alongside that it is one we had to wait for for a long time in PZ1, I feel that since it was a requested and iconic species, it would fit into the base roster of the next game. Its a Zoo Tycoon classic which also adds to its appeal - and finally it is a caprid which would definitely be needed for the base game seeing as we barely had any in the PZ1 base game.

Essential, the giant panda isn't one of the most popular zoo animals for no reason. Even being a base game animal, the giant panda still holds up well against the more recent dlc animals.

I know controversial choice, but i think is one of those animals that could be a drive for sales if left for DLC (like all of u said is extremely popular and iconic) and could use a nice remake (although is good already). I don't need right away in base game, but i consider it an abc zoo animal so is essential for the game overall, should come at some point but is great for DLC material.
Essential, not even a debate. One of the most iconic zoo species and such a nice conservation stories linked to zoos.
I'm with NachoB. The Panda is such an iconic zoo animal that it will be in the game. But saving a few iconic animals for DLCs is a good business decision.
It would also be kinda fitting, given how the Chinese government treats allowing other countries to exhibit Pandas.

Giant Panda is for the base game roster of PZ2 with the markhor.
