Then when you get a chance to pay for some of those other animals in a DLC, you are paying for a significantly better model than PZ1, along with better features? Or would you prefer if PZ2 may be delayed for this?
Probably gonna be an unpopular opinion, but if it meant we got EVERY animal from PZ1 (DLC included), with model improvements across the board, I would happily accept a significant delay for PZ2. It could come out in 2030 for all I care, I've got the first one to enjoy ¯\(ツ)

That's 200 models that will need at the very least, some touching up, and possibly major rework.
Probably closer to 500 considering models for juveniles and both sexes. Which is why I think PZ2 will take a page out of JWE2 and just not bother for the vast majority of species. They're already using HD textures on models with loads of triangles, no point in re-inventing the wheel even if some of them have cartoonish proportions.
Would you all be satisfied with making every animal look decent and be able to keep them all? Or would you rather have solid re-works on 150 or so. Frankly the only models with which I had serious issues are the Malayan tapirs (these were objectively the only reskinned animals in the whole game, they even kept the mole from the Baird's tapir) and the infamous bintu-wrong prior to the SEAAP's release. Because I'm fine with every other model, I'd prefer keeping everything from PZ1 in PZ2's base game.
And I'd prefer seeing PZ2 get delayed for as long as possible, ideally so they can figure out how to make the core gameplay loop fun and rewarding.

I’d be find if we kept certain models like anything from Tropical+ (minus domestics, sand cat, zookeeper pack, and a small fix on blue penguin).

I do think they are going to remake some animals to current standards and update the fur textures in most of them.

But i believe they are aware of the critiscism for animals like the lion, bears, wolves, iguanas, snakea, okapi, orangutan. I expect them to adress all those at the very least and i hope the spotted hyena, all the cats in base game and wild dogs get the same treatment. I think those are pretty much the animals that need complete reworks because in their current form are pretty much unplayable because of how bad they look compared to DLC animals, specially the ones that have some kind of "variant" in DLC to compare them with.

Then you have other animals like the bison, giraffe, zebra, etc. That need a glow up and an up to date rework but are not as bad as the other ones i first mentioned, so they are second priority. But i do expect things like bringing the zebra model to the ass rig at the very least and so on.

Markhor for me is a great DLC animal material. Goats are very common in zoos, this one is also great for Himalayan sections.

Giant Panda
is essential to appear. They are rare in zoos, but one of the most iconic animals. But they would also work as some kind of Conservation DLC headliner quite well too.

They could update animations, hitboxes, mechanics, climbing, enrichment use, guest-animal or keeper-animal interactions, and so on. All that would require a lot of work with each individual model.
But regardless, I don't want to hijack this thread for this conversation.

Alright my placement for the panda:
Like many others this one also goes in the base game for PZ2. While I do agree it would probably be ok as a DLC flagship animal it’s too iconic and necessary for them not to put it in base game.
