Hmmm... ok, I'm in the Profile Editor now. I was able to change the POV hat on the throttle from 4-way to 8-way. Saved my profile. Now, I'm not sure how to set the "Pinkie"(?) to act as shift. When I click the little button with a small "play" icon in it, a popup appears and the only choice is "Latched". I know what a latch is but I don't understand what it means in this context. I'm sorry but English is not my native language.

I was able to set my edited profile as the startup profile but it was not obvious. I'm a Mac OS X user, not Windows. It was not obvious that I could "right-click" on an already displayed popup to summon another popup. But I did it!

Now, the only thing I'm not sure like I said is how to make the Pinkie as a shift (or modifier) key.

EDIT: oh, another thing I've seen but haven't found is the "clutch". What's the clutch?
Glad you could get it to work...almost there. ;)

If clutch is enabled the pinkie is just a normal button. This is enabled by default. You don't enable/disable the clutch mode in the profile software. You have to go to the game controller setup in the MFD tab. See this youtube video. Here you see the UI for the game controller.
In Windows that would be again via right click Saitek icon or in Windows "control panel > devices and printers > X52 > settings". Maybe this thread is helpful too though here the other profiles are deleted.
Once you get it configured you have to bind a key to the desired function ingame and bind that key in the SHIFT profile in the profile editor.

Thanks again! I'll check it out later this evening, time permitting! Sorry, can't rep you more. That will have to be a virtual one!

Got a setup working for me. Not totally perfect but close.

Still a couple of questions, if you don't mind:

1. What is the meaning of "latched" in the profile editor?
2. How can I configure the little mouse button next to the minuscule joystick? I tried different combinations but I cannot use it in ED.
3. My laptop went to sleep at some point yesterday. When I woke it up, the multi-function display on the throttle came on but without the LED backlit. And it seems that my profile was not active. I tried to select it from the Saitek tray tool but it didn't work. And all the custom settings in my profile were not active in ED. Is this a known issue? Any workaround?

Thanks a million!

Nice, you will extend it with time. ;)
1. Not sure here, will look it up
2, In the profile software it jumps to the key when un press it. You could bind it to a key and bind that key ingame.
3. USB power issue after sleep. Reconnect it.

Thank you! I'll try what you suggest!

I haven't spread enough love yet but fear not, I'll be back I'm sure :)

I've had CH Pro Throttle running fine with CH Control Manager for about 6 months and suddenly it's gone wacky. I can install my profile just fine, but when I click the "Mapped Mode" button or "Download", it shows up as two devices in my Windows 7 Control Panel. It also shows up as Control Manager Device 1 and Device 2 when I click on "Calibrate". If I re-scan, then it properly shows up as "CH Pro Throttle USB" in the Calibrate tab and now only shows up as one device in Windows Control Panel. I can go back and forth between two devices and one device my clicking these buttons described above. The problem is, my game (Elite Dangerous), doesn't detect the device unless I rescan (so only one device properly shows up), but then some of my programmed buttons don't function unless I Download the profile to the stick. I've always kept a shortcut of CMStart.exe in my startups folder, so now every time I turn on my computer, these two devices show up and so aren't detected by ED. So basically I have to manually start CH Control Manager each time, rescan to ensure only one device shows up, and still live with reduced functionality.

I've tried unplugging and re-plugging the throttle. I've tried uninstalling the CH Control Manager software and re-installing. In Windows Control Panel, there is no obvious sign of a problem (even when two devices show up, Windows says they're functioning properly). I haven't been able to delete one of the devices through the Windows Control Panel -- only by rescanning in CH Control Manager. Not sure what caused this -- maybe a Windows update that borked my driver? But Windows says my driver is fine so I can't reinstall. Please help!

Just received my Thrustmaster HOTAS X. I see that ED has a setting for it. Great. Then. Not so great. The throttle is not working as it should. I've tried every conceivable option. Is there some trick to getting it calibrated? I can't find anything on this topic. HelP!

Assuming you're using Windows:

  1. First make sure it's set to PC, not PS3 (switch near the power cable on the unit)
  2. Also, I find you get the best results if the Home light is green (more axes to use, from what I remember)
  3. Go to Control Panel, then Devices and Printers, then right click on T.Flight Hotas X
  4. Select Game Controller Settings, then Properties, Settings, Calibrate. Follow the instructions all the way through and you should see a noticeable improvement.
  5. After that you'll need to refine the settings in Elite: Dangerous - you may or may not need to invert the throttle and other axes.

Hope that helps!

Good advice. +rep

I also advise "full range" in options.

Question to the 11.15% (as of now) flying the mighty Warthog. How do you guys yaw since the stick doesn't twist? Is it a major pain the backside or easily manageable?
_
My X55 is (unsurprisingly) letting go after a year and I'm looking for something of quality. The Warthog seems to fit the bill except the lack of stick twist. Don't want pedals though.

Hi there,

For yaw and laterial thrust, I am using the saitek Pro Combat pedals.

Out of the box, yaw is straight forward. getting analogue output from the pedals so that ED could uses it, took some external software. The Combat pedals have two analogue outpust but ED will only allow you one input.

Using vJoy and UJR, I was able to create a single axis by merging the two, applying it to a virtual joystick and then binding the virtual joystick to ED.

For those interested;

vJoy Device 8
X Axes ticked, 0 buttons, 0 POVs, Enable Effects unticked.

UJR
vJoy Stick ID 8
Axes 1
1 (X) [Rest L] 5 1 Invert (ticked)
Axes 2
1 (X) [Merge] 5 2 Invert (Unticked)

ED failed to see the vJoy input in options as the pedals output was milli-secs quicker, so I used the Bindings options to send the output during setup without pressing the pedals. Worked perfectly and in the .binds file, the text reads;

<LateralThrustRaw>
<Binding Device="vJoy" Key="Joy_XAxis" />
<Inverted Value="1" />
<Deadzone Value="0.00000000" />
</LateralThrustRaw>

I only have vJoy running one virtual device, so do not know how more than one would be registered here.

For the others comment;

In addition to the Worthog, I use Saitek Pro flight combat rudder pedals and a PS3 controller for SRV.

Unfortunately it does not. Under properties it shows a layout of the stick and the buttons. I can validate there is input. It shows that the throttle only goes to about 60 or 70%. No options, no buttons, no settings or calibrate. :p

Maybe you need to reinstall the driver, or find the latest version then - I vaguely recall a similar problem with mine that was solved by a complete reinstall. Other than that it could be a hardware problem but it's best to eliminate software issues first. I'm away from my gaming PC and T.Flight so I can't do much else I'm afraid.

Thanks for your input anyway. I don't think the driver is broken. I just got the hotas this week and the driver from the website. I may be missing something in the setup but even trying to use other folks .binds files I still get weird stuff going on with the throttle. Brand new device. If it's hardware it's an anomaly I suppose. I would prefer to think I'm missing a crucial button to push somewhere in the configuration. Maybe someone else has an idea! Anybody? I'm not finding much help on the Thrustmaster site. They have their hands full with the target software. Sadly that's not for the T.hotas.x. Saddening my Christmas a bit. I was looking forward to some dogfights. Seems my fight will be with the bindings. Arrgh.

I haven't used it myself so take this with a pinch of salt but while I was looking for bindings as I also recently got a T Flight X I saw this post on reddit;

https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDange...he_game_and_a_hotasx_massive_deadzone/cktxvm4

and the bloke has a link for a thrustmaster calibration tool

ftp://ftp.thrustmaster.com/accessories/pc/Utilities/TM_CALIB_103.exe

As I say, haven't used it myself but could be worth a go.

Check you've not got the pc/ps3 switch on the base set to ps3 mode? That caused some weird issues on mine. (you may need to unplug the usb before changing it) You'll also want to press the home button to 'green' to make sure it's in 5-axis mode not 4-axis mode.

Failing that, test it in usb controllers in the control panel - you should be able to see all axes and buttons work there, if not, your stick is faulty or you have driver problems.

I was thinking about getting one of those T.Flight X ones. They're only around 30 quid. Are they any good..?

Am also thinking about making my own stand too. Shouldn't be too difficult I reckon, and it will double as a steering wheel stand too. A steering wheel controller is also on my list of things to buy...all ready for me jumping on VR next year.
