I was looking for a UK equivalent of www.massdrop.com but there isn't one.
Basically I want to get together a group if buyers to see if we can negotiate a discount on Saitek X55 Rhino HOTASS.
Newegg are advertising it internationally at £122, but won't ship it abroad! The UK retail is £179.
I'll be emailing them direct to see if they would offer a discount at close to the Newegg price for a bulk buy of 40-50 units.

So are there 40-50 potential buyers here interested if the price is right? (I reckon potential X52 Pro buyers would be interested).
I too would be interested at that (or close to that) price.

X52 pros are touching £100 on ebay, so I'd rather pay a bit more and get something new.

Good Prices on X52, X52 Pro

Just noticed that Dabs are selling the Saitek X52 for the very competitive price of £85 + £3 delivery (usually about £100 but have seen it for £80), and the X-52 pro for £110!

This is only about £20 more than they cost used on fleabay! Only wish I had a way to swing for one.

Anyway to choose which controller the game uses?

Hello all,

Here is my control setup:

  1. Warthog Joystick & Throttle combined into Thrustmaster Virtual by Target script
  2. Saitek Combat pedals
  3. PPJoy Virtual joytick combining both Thrustmaster Stick/Throttle and Saitek pedals

Up until yesterday, everything was ok and working. However, now, it is as though the game only picks up the Saitek pedals and not the PPJoy virtual one.

Is there a way to force a specific controller?

Any input would be appreciated.

Are you premium beta or alpha backer?

I'm asking this, as different Alpha builds treat multiple controllers differently.

Alpha 1.1 (the SP combat module released for prem beta folk to have fun with) doesn't like multiple controllers at all. Having your OS see both as a single unit through Virtual Joystick may or may not work.

Current Alpha (3.04) might get along with multiple devices plugged in, but IIRC it still doesn't really work so that you can just assign bindings to more than one device at a time (counting out kb & mouse).

Come first Beta build 30th May, multiple controllers should work.

I'm lefthanded which means that I use the joystick with my left hand, but I use the mouse with my right hand. That was a great thing while playing IL-2 Sturmovik because they implemented view control by means of the mouse. With one hand on the joystick and the other on the mouse I can tell you the the view control was superb in dogfight. I would like that to be an option in Elite: Dangerous, because it gives you far better view control than the hat on any joystick.

Joystick Control

Agree with that, Full Joystick with analogue speed control - I have Sidewinder which includes 3 optional (triggers) and top hat view control for thumb. Speed control and 5 additional buttons on the base to be configured for regular in-flight (fight) use. Keyboard and mouse is fine for a walking FPS but for any 3 dimensional flight it has to have the joystick option.
The option to add foot rudder pedals would also be a good one – but I expect that is a bit hopeful at this stage?
I am also intending to develop a unique new style of joystick – just need the time and impetus.

Hi folks since buying into alpha, I starte out using keyboard and mouse, but then moved on to XBox 360 controller. However I have to admit that so far I have found it worse in some ways. Its almost too easy to end up overshooting, crashing and or just failing to get where you want.

Also there aren't enough buttons for all the options, ideally I want keyboard and xbox 360 controller. For those folk who've been able to play E: D with a xbox controller, would you mind sharing your configuration and how you use it with/without keyboard? (I did do a search in this thread for these details but got nothing back, so forgive me if this has been covered before).

Thanks

Ab

You can get something called a 'chatpad' that plugs into the Xbox 360 controller, but I have no idea if it will work with E: D.

Click on the above picture to see one at Amazon, but they are even cheaper on Ebay.

Deadzone

I am trying to get my JS X52 setup but there is a huge dead zone in the X and Y axis , i searched but couldn't find any post about this.
is there a setting i am missing, I am using custom setup and all dead zones are set to minimum (all the way to the left)

Maybe a daft question, but have you set E: D to use the joystick axis as axis, not as buttons...?

Thanks Rog, actually playing around with it tonight I found out that keyboard is still active even with the 360 controller plugged in. But still not getting much joy from using it as much as Keyboard and mouse. Not that I am much better with them. I have to say finding navigating really hard at present I can't even get past scenario 3. I did try to land in port zalada and found I was unable to straighten up on turn so as to face straight on then the network dropped me and I was out before I could correct it.

SO struggle to find the sweet spot, so that I don't nurf other options, and looking like a real clumsy idiot most of the time. Have subsequently gone back to scenario 2, just to learn to fly better and try to get the hang of what works best. Having spent a lot to buy a computer to run the game and now upgraded to alpha I cannot spend (nor do I have anything to spend) to get any other peripheral.

Anyone out there found the best setup for an Xbox 360 controller?

just to let you know, no reply from Saitek/Madcatz since I explained I wasn't a dealer. Bit disappointing, you'd think they'd try & organise some form of discount against a bulk buy, but I guess the limited supply means they can currently sell at an inflated price.

Re. keyboards with joysticks, I would have dificulty positioning a full keyboard with the 2 Saitek units, but I figured if additional keys were def. required, then the Razer Tartarus looks a good bet (they are down to @ £50)

Hi.

How did you manage that? Can't do any bindings with my logitech extreme 3D pro. Always takes the mouse button...Then I used other presets like the thurstmaster which worked ok till a certain moment. now the ship is just spinning in space...

Yes, I noticed it the other day too, very temted but it has to be X52 Pro for me, just wish I could try it out some where. Dabs is good, postage should be free at that price?

exact same problem with custom settings and MS Forcefeedback Pro 2

set as standard HID game controller, all perfect sensitivity when checking calibration in Windows

but huge deadzones in ED in the middle on both X and Y axis

Yes, I have the same joystick and it is of little use. I linked it to the pro they have in their list, forget the make, but it gives a half baked experience, of course. Hopefully they will support the logitech in time otherwise I am using keyboard and mouse.

X52 profile questions for ED

Does anyone know where ED stores the joystick profiles? I created a custom profile for the X52 in ED options but would like to load it into the profile editor, I can't seem to locate it in the ED directory.
