Well said Bomba. I am in agreement with you. Exclusive decals just for groups is a thing I'm cool with but adding more decals that are accessible for everyone would be much cooler.
Meh, are they?
I mean if people feel they are, then bring some on in. Let's put them in the shop along with other visual modifications.
I assume we're all good with that, right? Nobody is going to get a cob on if they get charged money for it, the same as the paint and body kits? Obviously this entire line of trying to raise a mob wouldn't be just to get free visual mods for everyone, because that's clearly not in the interests of FD.
Personally, I'd rather the time was spent on paint work, because paintwork is MUCH cooler than some blobby scribble on the side of my ship which signifies... well, nothing if it is generic. but if the community would rather see custom scribbles than paint, I can live with them being in the shop.
But for me part of the joy of them isn't that they look cool (they don't generally and nobody can see them much), but that they are a badge that signifies *something*. So there needs to be a *something*.
I've got a Pax decal. It's a blobby thing that doesn't mean anything to me because I just clicked a button to get it. I don't use it. It is without meaning.
IRL, I have an 'OPT Drift Club' sticker on my car. It means something to me because it signifies something. I don't stick a 'Nissan' sticker on it, because that doesn't. Or indeed a 'Ford' sticker. We as humans have established rather an etiquette that if we go and stick something on our car, it is personal and relevant and meaningful. And nearly all the time it signifies membership of some kind of 'club'. That's pretty much what they are: social markings, rather than straight decoration. That's what all the decals in FD to date have been.
Yes: Even the Onionhead one.
If the OP or others want scribbles they can buy: Fine. But that is not relevant to the awarding of special decals for special stuff and can go on independently of it, which is cool and should continue.
