So, I got into the whole Formidine Rift thing because I play on a Mac (for which Horizons isn't available) and this is supposed to be solvable in the base game. I've been following the developments about the rally points/bases, but have no way to participate in that part.
But I've been following up a few purely-in-space leads that people have suggested, primarily checking local news and looking for new unregistered comms beacons or other unexpected nav points.
So far, I don't think I've found anything meaningful, but the null hypothesis is still worth knowing about. I did find some minor bits and bobs that might be of note (but are almost certainly just random background detail or BGS/Powerplay spam).

Ishtar, Ereshkigal, and Prism are on today's itinerary.

Places I've checked so far:
- Reorte
- Riedquat
- Avalon system (Persephone station)
- Persephone system (Lombardellli's Legacy station)
- Arcturus system (Hooperport, Singh Orbiter & Alison City)
Minor notes I did find:
- According to tourist beacons, Faulcon deLacy have close ties with our friends the Sirius Corporation
- They also have close ties with something called "WCM Corporation". Who dey? Not related to Wreakin Construction by any chance?
- Persephone (station in Avalon) was host to a mysterious treasure hunt organised by one Alfred Jeffress. Assumed this was just some FDev-organised fun event, but... neither the winner, nor the prize, nor the object of the hunt were disclosed, which seemed odd.
- Persephone (system) is currently suffering in outbreak. Pretty sure this is just normal BGS shenanigans, but the outbreak is fungoid in nature, and explorers have been discovering a lot of fungi lately, so I've included the text just in case.
Ishtar, Ereshkigal, and Prism are on today's itinerary.

Treasure Hunt Successful —Avalon Herald 24 Mar 3302
Alfred Jeffress's treasure hunt is over. The mystery object has been found and returned to Persephone, and the winner will soon receive their prizes. Jeffress has extended his gratitude to those who participated, and promised to organise another treasure hunt in the near future."
New Discovery Both Sweet And Sour — Lombardelli's Legacy News — 27 Jan 3303
Astrobiologists operating out of Persephone were delighted to announce the discovery of a new variant of Absidia Fungi aboard Lombardelli's Legacy.
The fungi were identified as having developed when the station's neutrafarm began using locally sourced feed to care for their plants. The inevitable waste from the farmed vegetables was then found to be playing host to the new variant of Absidia.
In related news, doctors have said that they are confident the outbreak of Mucormycosis about Lombardelli's legacy can be easily dealt with once the appropriate medical supplies have been secured."
