The way I see it is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion just as long as they know that I am always correct then everything will be fine.

The forum also filled up with people who disagreed with design decisions, development pace and non consensual pvp, just to name a few things. You guys really need to quit staking your claim to righteousness and laying blame on some demographic you personally don't like.
The bottom line is that the forum was friendlier because everyone was busy dreaming about the game they hoped they would get. And now we have reality to temper the discussion.
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to jasonbarron again.
This sentence is only true when I say it.The way I see it is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion just as long as they know that I am always correct then everything will be fine.![]()
That's the beauty of quantum mechanics - you can be correct and I can be correct even though we're saying opposite things. Spooky forums at a distance![]()

Well lets face it, people who spend all their free time playing a space game are hardly likely to be the pillars of society.
This right here is a mild form of white-knighting. Dump everyone who has a complaint about the game into one neat tidy box and label it "People who just want the game to be like Eve". Then with one dismissive statement, you can just tell the "whiners" to go away and play Eve.We used to have a great community. I've been around Frontiers forums since around 2008 and things were great back then. People talking about Elite, people speculating about what a new Elite game would be like. It was friendly and fun. Then ED came out and the forums quickly got filled up with refugees from Eve Online and it stopped being quite so fun and friendly anymore.

Who got banned. I didn't really see anything that bad when I last looked at this thread.
I'd like to know that, too. Babelfisch made it sound so dramatic.
The post wasn't that bad on it's own. It's the cumulative effect. I took a break from the game when 2.4 released. Frustrated with more bugs than I feel is acceptable, and I felt like the devs were trying to slap a pretty coat of paint on an old rusty car when the engine didn't even run right - priorities of what is being worked on first was all wrong IMO. And on top of that what DID get added wasn't even fully fleshed out. Multicrew added, but only combat roles - no science officer or anything. Wings added, but no wing missions and incentives to NOT wing up because bounties were split between wingmates (has since been changed). Planetary landings, but not enough to do down there. And now 2.4 with Thargoids in signal sources, only thing to do with them is shoot them, science limpets, drop them cargo, or ignore them. I was hoping for so much more. Maybe that's coming, maybe it isn't - all I have to go on is the past 2 years of what they've given us which does not inspire me with confidence.
So I've taken a break, was gonna patiently wait it out until Q4 2018 when exploration gets some love. Was hoping to engage with the devs, express my frustrations with how things have unfolded over the past 3 years, and what I'd like to see change. But if I can't speak my mind on the forums without getting called a whiner or a special snowflake constantly, then screw it, I'm out. The devs, the mods, and the people who are happy with the game as it is seem to all want us disgruntled folks to just go away and play something else. I guess after 2 years of getting told to go away, I'm finally gonna give in and do just that.
I will admit to be quite bummed out about it. I was a HUGE fan of Elite since 1984. David's vision for Dangerous inspired and excited me like no other game ever has, and I doubt ever will again. But we haven't gotten the game as he described it back then; at least not yet. And I'm not gonna stick around and get talked down to and insulted while I wait to see if the game ever starts to head in that direction. It's not worth it - too many other good games - not great like I was hoping this one would be, but good enough. Too many other things in life to occupy my time to engage with a community who doesn't want you around.
I have plenty of gripes with ED (some the same as yours) and I’ve been fully allowed to express them sometimes even got dev responses.
Wait, not sure how I fit into your response. Clearly I believe criticism is allowed on the forum. Anyway, yeah looks like we’re in agreement. The NPC thing drives me crazy. NPC crew guts me every time I think about how they’ve left it to rot. Interactivity with NPCs in general is extremely anemic.Yes, after reading NecroMachina's post it looks like I (and many others on this forum) have the same issues with the game. I would add the lack of NPC wings and crew though.
So I can't understand how you cone to the conclusion that criticism isn't allowed on this forum. As long as you don't insult someone... And keep in mind that the people disagreeing with you are allowed to have an opinion as well.

Cool. You fit in my post as 'I absolutely agree with you'![]()
Wanted to rep your last post but I have to spread the love around a bit more but the game needs more voices like yours - it's quite telling that Planet Coaster is their money making game, ED wasn't even mentioned so all the white knighters are actually destroying this game by repeating that it's ok. Star Citizen shows there's a huge market for space flight games (or the promise of space legs / landings / dog fights etc) - Fdev need to tap into that market and they're not gonna do it if they think the present iteration is perfect....

The developers never respond to me, watch: Are we ever going to get an orrery? if not, at least an explanation of why not would be highly desirable.I have plenty of gripes with ED (some the same as yours) and I’ve been fully allowed to express them sometimes even got dev responses.

Here's a good example of what I mean. Here's a thread saying how someone wasn't impressed with what was said to be coming in 2018.Yes, after reading NecroMachina's post it looks like I (and many others on this forum) have the same issues with the game. Here are some snippets of the replies.Snip...
if you dont like it make your own space game.
Maybe they should put you in charge OP? You're clearly full of ideas and an expert in game design and programming.
Well, judging from your post, you wouldn't even qualify as junior for anything, sorry. That was total gamer entitlement and lack of understanding and context.
Maybe it means your expectations are way off and unrealistic?
Of course, if that's not to your taste, there is always CoD. I hear they're planning to release another Cookie Cutter game soon.
Yawn. You asked a question, & the answer so far has been pretty clear. Few people-if any-agree with you, & you just come across sounding overly entitled.
If only the UK would pay tech jobs better...Then OP would create the single most awesome game of all time for us.
The next time there's a forum reorganisation can we please have a Whine Cellar subforum where these entitled, ugly threads can go?
Pitchforks! Torches! Only 10 cr! Get your supply of tar and feathers right now.
The bundle only 79.99 cr - comes with a collectible strawman to burn at the stake.
Check out our strawmen customisation option, too.
Another thread of "im disappointed blaablaablaa". So what else is new?
Turn your sound off. Problem solved. Doesn't take much effort to find a solution to your 'problem'.
..and the OP is, well just wrong. Sorry OP, but you have really over-stated the whole ED is broken thing.
"You aren't making the game I want!
WHY aren't you making the game I want!!! And I want it NOW!!!
Wah Wah Wah!!!"
Accurate summary of the OPA little mean, but I couldn't help myself.
So OP doesn't like the game. Got it.
TL;DR. The game's not broken, but it needs attention. FD know that. Give them time to show what they can do, and stop whining.
Beyond belief that another one of these threads has surfaced.
I've still to get over the other thousand similar threads since Saturday.
Repped for effort. The point I'm trying to make is [...] it could be better.
IOU 1 rep for effort.
It'd be really nice if more posts contained referenced citations & examples to back up formed opinions rather than just bullish confidence & mockery.
