New upgrade System - "Your time is valueable"- is a pure grind and waste of everyones time

I strongly suggest you wait and try out the whole package before losing your S about it! Its becoming very apparent that some here are incapable of envisioning how this upgrade will work based on ALL the info provided.

I think many people can easily envisage how its going to be - and thats why they are complaining..

I don't need to min/max all modules on all ships - i get a new FSD on my cheiftan - 1, 2 maybe 3 Grade 5 rolls currently - happy days..
New system - how many rolls? How many mats ?
That's 1 module..

Sorry - but you could see the look on Sandro and Ed's face - they know they done messed up...

Since when is mat collection part of the engineering upgrade session time?

Since always. You don't get every material through normal play, unless your normal play consists of every method of material collecting... Which I'd envy you for enjoying every single bit of the game.

The teenies in a frenzy that their non-stop crying didn't cause Fdev to make all upgrades and modules a one stop shop. Oh noes, you have to actually play the game! Outrage! And if they don't engineer, their ships will literally be in-flyable, lying in a space graveyard rusting. *faints*

I'm not asking for everything on a silver platter the moment you start. I've logged plenty of hours and worked for my upgrades, as I'm sure have you and many others. What I am asking for is engaging gameplay. I'll restate - 1 hour and 45 minutes of nothing but clicking. There's no fun in that at all.

Well if you do that all in one go that is what it will feel like. But if you do it in bits and pieces you won't notice.

Have you played any other mmorpg with a crafting system. I can tell you now that EDs system has far less grind then the majority out there. Infact with the new materials trader I see it as far less grind.

It isn't difficult.

Nothing about this game is. That's beside the point. "Just scan a couple whenever you leave or enter a station" assumes that everyone always has a wake scanner equipped at all times. It's not a particularly useful module to have equipped in the current state of the game... unless of course you need data from wakes...

Depending on the upgrades you want, it's not just 'while playing' (normally). I have to take a lot of detours from how I like to play to get many of the upgrades I'm looking for. Not to mention the unlock requirements in general. I still don't have Broo because of 50 Bromelite. It took a while for me to consider Palin because of his requirements. You have to play a certain way to get upgrades, it's not as simple as just 'play and upgrade as you go'.

What do you think I Iv been doing?

When Engineers first came into Elite I went through what was needed on each ship & what I could do without. then spent the time collecting the mats, then going to the Engineers to get the mods. I was never going to go for 'God Rolls'. Anything decent i went with.
This new system will probably benefit me because I know I can improve on my Grade 5 modules, even when transfering my G5 mods for G4's & upgrading again.

I'd done most of my intial modules in two weeks, then moved on. Twelve months ago, when I bought my 'Vette & Cutter I returned to upgrade Modules again, then haven't touched it since.

I wouldn't call that a grind, but then again I don't want God Mode ships.

Yet all they did is pat each other on the back and repeat how awesome this game is. It's not far from being a apple keynote.

Yeah, if you can pick those up in three minutes you're definitely better at this than most people. :D

You can't possibly be this clueless! ??? [rolleyes]

100 unit storage cap PER MATERIAL. 100 unit storage cap PER DATA item!

The materials and data for the low level upgrades are all over the place! Missions, debris fields, everywhere! I am constantly dumping them into space because they clog up my inventory every 20-30 minutes! The G4 mats and data are also very easy to find. Even a good chunk of the G5 mats and data are in mission rewards and stuff like that.

What game are you playing?

We can now KEEP all that stuff up to 100 each and it has ZERO IMPACT on the storage of any other material or data item!

Why? Because for the first time ever we can actually keep 100 of every single material and data in the game! That is HUGE and previously impossible!

Like I asked at the top... Are you really this clueless? Or are you just not bothering to review everything that is being added?

Seems fine. I think you're overreacting. Sandor even said the there is randomization in the progressive rolls, with some being smaller, and some being larger.

It's definitely no BDO yet and I can only hope it never gets there.

I generally have one equiped unless my ship has power issues. Its fun chasing ships that have attempted to destroy me.

I keep selling Bromelite from passenger missions...not sure why this is so hard to find...I get 4 to 8 tons a trip many times...and this is just a sideline to the passenger missions....

Well, hopefully I can see it from your eyes at some point because I never went for god rolls either, yet I see it in an opposite light.

Bromellite drops VERY regularly doing passenger rescue missions from burning stations. Easy to get from there.

How come you ignore material trader completely?

Engineers is not G5 shop.

1. You trade at a loss wich is . But still okaish but still doesnt fix the underlaying problem really. That we need spreadsheets and programs to tell us where to get from

2. OFC Engineers is a G5 Shop. Or do you really go for G1 and called it done???? Cause by that logic you can just play with stock weapons if theyre so good.

Tedious =/= hard. When I'm in the mood to surf the mission board for Bromelite or mine it, I have no doubt that it won't be a challenging task.

I was totally fine with the way Engineering was, if they just made mats collection a little less horrible.

Instead, for my play style, the work in engineering will be massively increased for the same result.
