Long time lurker here. This is my fourth total post.

I had the thought today that all of us are like dogs chasing a car in our search for Raxxla. What would we do if we caught/found it? How will the reality of the in game Raxxla ever hope to live up to the myth? I wonder if Frontier even intends to ever have Raxxla be found? Raxxla could serve more use as an enigma than as an actual in game destination. It’s likely locked behind a permit and it could very well stay that way. I’m not even sure that I hope that I’m wrong about that because the reveal could turn out to be very disappointing.

Easy way to fix possible "disappointment" is to add a rank grind fr Raxxlan ships with amazing explorer/multirole capabilities, not much unlike old specialty ships in the old games. 4 years searching for 5K LY range w/good aesthetics ? Yes, please.

Edit: I made the number relative to E:D's size, not actually pulled from the old games. To save confusion, i have elaborated.

I’m pretty sure they would be combat ships.

Considering the raxxlans' supposed supertech, and the fact thst dedicated explorers would be the hunters of similar myths, that would be a ridiculously huge letdown. Multirole or explorer, and should far surpass other ships. They teleported PLANETS, after all.

Speaking of, couldn't Raxxla still, in all theory... just... move?

Oh well, I’ll give you that. Yes, they must have all kinds of supertech including better FTL travel.

What I was trying to tell is, all stories about them includes Elite pilots with good combat skills, they have some trials on combat and such, so my guess is the primary aspect must be combat, though I’d not prefer it to be. Elite combat pilots were known as almost impossible to kill back then, but they had different promotion requirements. So that might have been changed too.

I think that is a almost neccessary conclusion. In a galactic human bubble with billions of nav computers and exploration databases it is unexplainable, how a static location with known coordinates can suddenly be lost or forgotten. If it moves however... in erratic ways like within a kind of random wormhole anomaly a "place that is not a place" could be easily lost at some point in time.

And it could be neccessary for another reason. Neccessary for solving this problem:
Once Raxxla is found, the hunt for Raxxla will be over.
It´s going to restart however if it disappears again after 4 months. everyone could try to find it, see it, use it for a while and then the hunt starts all over again.
FDev could need such a thing for keeping the player base hot for at least something..

I've seen this mechanic somewhere before... In a 1980's archive:

In an effort to find any clues as to TDW, I reset my double elite account to start again!
Not a mistake as it seems. In doing the first training mission on trade this message popped up.
Normally wouldn't think anything if it, but the request comes from a redacted location according to the codex.
The first clue and possibly test of TDW?
Side note, your first sidewinder does now not come from an anon benefactor but the local power in your system where you begin.
Any other cmdr's able/willing to confirm my findings?

Are the Thargoid maps thoroughly understood? I'd like to exhaust all potential location indicators before I start chasing ghosts in the void.

*Edited to correct typos.
When you say maps, what do you mean? If you mean the images from the spectrograms, then yes, as answered by Jorki and HZ.

If you mean the spiral galaxy-esque projection from the Thargoid Devices then no, it’s not understood.

Source, please.

There are no scouces with facts about Raxxla. All we have is the codex, Rafe Zetter’s words in TDW and a few dodgy mission descriptions.
All these are speculative in form. Neither of them claim to know for sure. There isn’t a single word from anyone that has actually been there.

We know it’s in the galaxy, because MB and DB told us. That’s all we know.

Oh I know. Just making the point. ;)

Edit - well we also know that according to one of the high ranking ceepers, TDW never found Raxxla. That’s with all the standard disclaimers about things said by characters of course, though in the context the lie/deceit side of that wouldn’t seem to be applicable, so it would probably be more of a case of how correct their knowledge was in the first place, combined with them not knowing whether anything had changed after the CIEP split off from TDW.

I suppose I should've specified. The lore of the books Raxxla is derived from describe a planet being lost through said rift. I'd always assumed this wasn't coincidental as the planet had two MASSIVE structures on either pole, supposedly the Omphalos rift. It has been a hot couple of years since I perused all the lore, but if you have the books, read them, because it'll take me ages to find years-old posts on reddit, youtube, etc

Which I suppose, to correct myself, doesn't necessarily make it a canonnical event, just like the old "Humans transported to other galaxies" isn't confirmed in E D (is it?)

Edit: That one: Alien World. I got my sources on this one, chief. The ORIGINAL mention of Raxxla, the lizardoid Raxxlans, their wars, and Point-to-Point travel.

Edit (Again): And good luck obtaining the books. As far as I know frontier stopped selling the old lore, and on Amazon copies sell for $100 or more. If anyone can find me the books for a reasonable price I'll directly source clues.

Howdy Cmdrs,
I've been deeply reading this thread the past two weeks, taking in everyone's thoughts and views on the subtle breadcrumbs we have been left to sniff in the hunt for Raxxla. I have noticed when searching in the Galmap for star names from the internet that sometimes it doesn't find the star. Does anyone know how to find the star you want to visit but it doesnt have the same name in game?

Many Thanks.

Identifiers from different Star Cartalogues are used in Elite Dangerous (e.g. HIP, HD, HR, UBV etc.). You may search for different Identifiers of a star by SIMBAD Astronomical Database.

http://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/simbad/

E.g. if you are looking for zeta cassiopaie http://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/simbad/sim-basic?Ident=zeta+cassiopeiae&submit=SIMBAD+search
you will see that for example its Identifier at the HIP -Catalogue is: HIP 2920

What has been lost will soon be recovered.

The ‘map’, not the place.
Jason died before he could take his Argonauts.... sorry, TDW buddies on the expedition.
TDW is still looking, like the rest of us.

Has the vicked men lost it to? We dont know. They don’t talk.

Oh no ! Would be totally inconsistent ! The wicked/Raxxlans are no longer TDW since they split. Imho.
And they possibly aren't interfering in the common affairs of the Bubble.
Too busy exploring and exploiting other universes.
Wishful thinking ^

Btw, the khrusómallon is Raxxla !!
