Thargoid Attacks: Where, When and What you can do about it

Before I went to the Listening Post I scanned the transmitter, and anything transmitter-like, at the installation and got nothing. But I can try it again... at ten minutes after the hour?

Targets this week :

Incursions (AX CZ)
None

Infestation (NHSS)
Ariatia, CE Bootis, HIP 23395, Palanti & Kareco. Probably PLEIADES SECTOR KC-V C2-4

None are marked as Infested in the galmap

Eagle Eye:

1: Palanti (NHSS)
2: Ariatia (NHSS)
3: PLEIADES SECTOR KC-V C2-4 (In Pleiades, so always NHSS ;) )
4: Kareco (NHSS)
5: CE Bootis (NHSS)
6: HIP 23395 (NHSS)
Warning: Try and not be in the Infested / Incursion systems on Thargsday for the server restart - CMDRs have reported CtD issues otherwise.

Notes:
  • Incursions are listed in the 2nd Galnet article and dynamically update through the week (they start at 'massive thargoid presence' and are beaten when we reach 'no thargoid presence'.
  • Thargoids first Infest a system, if the Infection is not fought then they begin an Incursion, and we lose stations until the incursion is repelled.
  • Infested and Incursed systems can often be seen in the Galmap left panel. Sometimes the system also switches allegiance to the Thargoids (not always). It's worth checking a system is still Infested / Incursed before travel, as they change through the week. Sometimes the Galmap does not show the correct states, but systems targeted by Eagle Eye should still be targets. Unless that is broken ...
  • There is a galmap filter to help find Incursion systems (there is no filter for Infested)
  • Incursion systems : fight in the AX CZ until they are no longer listed in Galnet :)
  • Infested Systems : are saved by kills in the target systems- each kill counts the same, so a Scout is as useful as an Interceptor. Bonds do not matter. They only update state once a day, just after the BGS tick.
  • You can also find NHSS all over the Pleiades - within about 166 Ly of Merope, but it won't help save any systems.
  • And you can get (bugged) missions from the Aegis megaships to kill Thargoids, but they also don't count to save systems unless the destination system for the mission is also a target this week.
  • Infested Targets are found via a weekly search for nhss in possible target systems near the aegis ships and by decoding the aegis Eagle Eye system https://canonn.science/codex/eagle-eye-installations/
  • Decoding Eagle Eye is now simpler - use this decoder and type in the phonetic letters called out by the eagle eye unregistered comms beacons - this gives the target system

According to #chat_thargoids in Canonn DC Palanti and Kareco have NHSS too. Looks like all of them are confirmed.

Why don't you use chat_lab_69 for these stuff? :D

#chat_thargoids is for science, #lab_69 is for kills & builds. Taht's my explanation & I'm sticking to it :)

What's chat lab??

Thanks for the update Factabulous [up]

You can also find NHSS all over the Pleiades - within about 175 Ly of Merope, but it won't help save any systems. - Corrected

I just checked on Ariatia. I could only find 4 NHSS threats: 4, 5 x2, and 6. No combat zones as long as I know, but is the first time I joing the AX efforts after the 3.4 update, so I may be missing something.

If the system just came under infestation it'll take a week to see whether or not it was properly defended. If not, then Combat Zones will appear and a station will be damaged.

After six months without playing the game, forgetting how bad idea it was to use a turreted flak cannon, forgetting how to manage energy and to launch again the fighter after it was destroyed, I tried to solo a cyclops.

Well, you can imagine how that went. Thank Randomius, my krait is fast enough to outrun any thargoid!

gameplay wise, in solo, there should be no difference between the fixed and the turreted flak (they differ just by a single attribute). so for clarification - are you talking about guardian shard cannons?

Well, after some times with my squadron, we cleaned several scouts NHSS and a few cyclops in CE Bootis. We'll see how this goes.

@BunkerKind yep I meant the Flak Canonn. I don't know what I was doing, I didn't manage to aim it. Anyway changed it for a fixed version and I am much happier about it :)
