ED without gankers is..

Lol. It's true my in bubble activities don't even qualify as ganking by some strict definitions, since they can always talk their way out of it. If they would only talk.

I still call it ganking though since I spend a lot of time blowing the bajeebus out of pilots who don't stand a chance.

What about that time yesterday when you tried that with me and I sent you packing with your tail between your legs?

I didn't even play yesterday. You're thinking of someone else. What's your commander's name and what is your platform? And where's the vid? Is it MYRMS1? I'll go screenshot my contacts to show this is a load of nonsense. Meanwhile go get a screenshot of yours with my CMDR in it.

Just my attempt at before-tea humour. I’ve never been vary good at it :ROFLMAO:

I do have to ask this though; you stated that you usually give detailed warning about how you will destroy their ships, then you give up to three warnings. By the time you’ve done that, hasn’t your intended target just simply jumped away? I probably would have left before you finished typing it all out. I only had that happen to me once, in Sol. A player (not you) started to give me such warnings. I just simply jumped out the system whilst he was still typing. If you’re going to shoot, shoot. Don’t just sit there talking about it, was what went through my mind as I jumped.

So one might think. More often than not I kill (non PvP dedicated) ships I encounter. If you want to learn how bad most pilots and builds are taking up ganking.

I also have a wake scanner which is of modest use for the cheeky ones like you who manage to jump.

The longer typing is reserved for docked ships.

Otherwise I'll sometimes sneak a message in right before interdiction since they are often oblivious to the hollows in supercruise.

And then they usually don't submit, which gives me more than enough time to type a quick "HALT OR I OPEN FIRE" in normal space. Usually I follow up with "STOP" in case they really don't know much english, and then once again after blasting their shield and having them basically helpless, to give one final chance.

Realistically long before interdiction they should be looking at every CMDR in their instance. If they are a weak pilot, they should GTFO of town when they see a combat vessel with Z0Z0 squad named ZAREK NULL SECURTY. But most pilots are horrible, whose root cause I see as a combination of in-game training is garbage, most pilots lazy and uninteresting in improving with a falsely exaggerated idea of their own skill, and also some pilots (quite fairly) simply don't want to invest much time in the game.

Even if you don't know who he is, those aren't exactly warm and fuzzy tags that give reassurance you're not about to get murdered.

I also type extremely quickly.

I prefer ED without gankers.
Brrokk be honest with me, I know you're very outspoken about gankers so I want your honest opinion.
Why does it bother you so much if someone like myself blows you up in open?
I'm not trying to "call you out" or anything, I just want an honest answer.

I treat every hollow square I see as a potential threat. If I don’t want to fight then I’ll jump PDQ. If I am up for a fight, which is not often, then I’ll stick around and see what happens. I tend to lose more than I win - about 80/20 lose/win, but it’s normally an exhilarating experience to get ganked (especially if I win/escape). I tend to get ganked when I am in my unarmed ships, which really tells me all I need to know about certain gankers. :ROFLMAO:

Ehh I attack anything that isn't a buddy of mine and I usually fight to the death even if mine. The mere fact you pay attention to hollows put you in the top 20% if not 10% of pilots IMO. Unless the pilot is a dedicated PvP pilots their guns are often basically irrelevant.

Don't get me wrong. I'm still going to dunk on you hard if I ever come across you in console scrub galaxy as payback for that cheeky attempt at slander. But compared to genpop you're ahead of the curve.

Well, if I get beat by you then I’ll respect you for being better than me. Then I’ll go hide in Solo for an hour or so to lick my wounds. :ROFLMAO:

I go much further, posting detailed warning about how I'll destroy their ships if they don't comply & various other Zarek propaganda to docked ships, etc.

When ganking I always send at least one and usually three comms before I attack. And just in case there is a language barrier I always make the final comms very very simple such as "HALT OR I FIRE" or even just "STOP".

Maybe 1/10 pilots reply. Even after I've beat them up to low hull and stop firing to try comms one last time.

I really wonder why some people bother playing at all. I realize I'm not everyone's favorite interaction, but if you're going to just act as if comms don't exist why not just play solo? Maybe some new players don't realize comms are a thing but I find it's pretty common even outside noob areas.
Don't you play on PS4? I think it's pretty reasonable to assume that most people playing on a console don't have a keyboard hooked up to it.

If I played on console, I would imagine that getting replies to my comms would be the exception rather than the norm.

I do! I have a keyboard hooked up to my PS and XB. I find it so much easier when I have just rescued somebody in my role as a Fuel Rat, and I am giving them tips and advice on how not to get stuck again. Typing using a controller when you have a lot to say is a real pain in the bottom.

Yeah I'm aware, and hence I try to give them plenty of time to respond and accept brief answers. Often I won't even require they respond at all, but simply that they follow my instructions (which are very simple).

I look at it this way. If I'm a garbage pilot in a garbage build and CMDR Villian pulls me over in a pew pew machine telling me to stop, I'll either immediatley try to flee, or stop.

If they stop, that's a great start, they usually end up following my instructions and surviving the encounter.

If they flee, they almost always get brought to 20 hull and FSD reset and once again ordered to stop.

At that point if they don't stop... well that's just really unwise.

None of that requires any comms on their end at all. Also, by ordering them to stop, that gives us plenty of time for comms (and actually helps them by getting free FSD cooldown).

If they don't stop, well... yeah pew pew pew. For the rare ones who escape, more power to them.

Exactly! I highly recommend to all console players a wireless keyboard. Any one will do, I just use some generic logitech I had lying around. Really makes comms and a few other tasks easier/feasible. Useful in other games too. V cheap.

Yes. Mine only cost about 100 SEK each (USB wired). Just simple PC keyboards.

It absolutely doesn't bother me if there's an in-game reason; if you do it to get something like rep, inf or credits for yourself or your faction. Then it's just one CMDR against another.

Without such a reason I see it differently. It's not one CMDR against another in a game, it's one person trying to spoil the leisure activity of another. To me that makes it into a RL insult. Having limited leisure time I'm careful of it and not prepared to give anyone else the chance to mess it up.

I'm keenly aware that the difficult question is, "Who decides which it is?". I take a pragmatic attitude to this. Only one possible answer is available to me: I decide. Of course I take into account whether I had cargo or a bounty, any comms I receive, and anything I know about the other player by reputation.

Ok, I get what you're saying, but in my time as a ganker there have been MANY players that I have ganked in DBX's, ASP's and what not, that have come back in their combat ship after I've ganked them for a fair fight and I have ended up recruiting almost all of them. I've recruited 13 players in the past year alone that I met because I ganked them. I would've never met any of these players if didn't gank random players.
A lot of players do enjoy it so how am I supposed to differentiate those that enjoy it and those that don't?

Also, how am I supposed to differentiate myself as a "bad guy" player if I go around being nice to everyone?
Players like Krash and Ashen fox would have no one to fight and no need to protect anyone if players like myself stopped ganking.
And the epic squadron wars that break out between squads like mine vs squads like Krash's is by far the best part of this game.

One last thing, I actually agree and think it's a shame that Fdev hasn't given us an actual, in-game reason to be "bad guys", so we've had to just kind of make it up.
Also, don't you think that if someone doesn't want to be bothered with that they should just play in solo/pg? I mean, there's times that I don't feel like being bothered by space police players so I'll hop into solo.

The sad part is that when I gank, I usually pilot ships that are marginal at best by pure PvP standards. They sacrifice a lot of HP and some hardpoints for various convenience factors that would severely impair me versus an actual PvP pilot in an actual PvP build.

So it's quite possible to send me packing, but instead so many would just rather joke/imagine/fantasize about the prospect instead of just actually doing it as in this quoted post. Weird.
