Well, yes, it is quite amazing someone didn't decide to crash your ship into a planet when you were not logged in. In an internet game its frankly speaking astonishing.

However, if i was being skeptical, i would say the reason you posted that wasn't about it not being destroyed, but to try and point out how you can log off while letting someone else use your ship.

And the fact that it WORKED (well, no evidence....) is really astonishing considering all the stuff that isnt working properly in the tech-demo. Not sure if this really outlines how super cool and awesome the project is tho when you have to point to such mediocre things in order to advertise your game.

Call me when CI will not fail to make something regularly done before.

Never seen such a disaster in game development before....does that count? :D

Can you name another game that I can give my main transport away? And get it back in my inventory, unscratched for an insurance claim? As I honestly don’t know of another game I can do that in.

I guess more specifically, name a space game, as I don’t play many other types of games.
I’m pretty sure if that was a requirement in a game it wouldn’t be the most difficult job to implement. It’s just when it comes to SC,due to its total lack of features and gameplay, ship lending is thrown into stark relief and you end up over egging the pudding somewhat.
It’s precisely this sort of attitude towards a game that has allowed them to tread water for 7 years.

There’s a perceived value to SC.
And it’s based on what CR thinks he can get away with. He currently thinks 27,000 is reasonable and in no way exploiting people who have lost touch with reality.
Of course he’s fully aware of what he’s doing, just watching how he massages the ego of the highest payers,to keep that lovely money flowing in.
There should be a law against it and there probably is.

You just have to prove that this is what hes doing and hes doing it intentionally....thats the hard part

Its worth remembering, to many backers, all features in SC have never been done before by anyone, ever. If they acknlowedge it has been done before, it has never been done before with such fidelity.
True enough. That's the standard pattern of goalshifting, and it is just an exact repetition of the same error: it's a refusal to acknowledge that all they're talking about is visual improvements that have always happened. Their evasion in fact just further reinforces the point: not only has it been done before, but it has been done with improved visuals before — because that's just how gaming evolves, irrespective of SC's fumbling attempts to keep up.

Even this last bastion of hope is just another case of SC not doing anything new ever.

It doesn't really matter about reality when you're wealthy enough to throw 27 grand away on something as trivial and meaningless as a computer game does it? It's probably been a very long time since they were, if ever, aware of anything other than "so what can I spend all this money on today?". I find this "but wont somebody think of the rich people?!" pearl clutching quite comical.

Granted there may be people who have spent way more than they should but I doubt its at the highest end.

I’m of the opinion that even if you’ve paid for the lowest option you’ve paid way more than you should.
So they’re either wealthy or stupid or a combination of both.

Neither am I, though I far from proud of having backed this mess that is less a game project than a "foot in the door"* business model.

*Many meanings apply.

You seem to be taking it far too personally.

The likely probability is SC will be:
  • never released
  • released with a huge amount of bugs + crash and burn.
SC project should be used as teaching material - projects gone wrong - it has all the basic project management mistakes, from failure to manage scope, no clear direction, not managing realistic expectations, lack of estimation / costs..

Chris R has had a history of problematic game projects, and he hasn't learnt from his past mistakes.

In 2019, there isn't much revolutionary game features in SC... Chris R has missed the window of opportunity.

No as was stated very often throughout the history of this thread people are aware of Star Citizens alpha status (some would say it needs to reach alpha first, its still a playable tech demo) and with that comes a certain level of tolerance.

Anyhoo...some pics to lighten the mood :)

After spending an evening along with several other HOTAS flyers testing out a variety of trial and error setups, we managed collectively to sort out Ci¬G's complete of a control menu malfunction with the HOTAS settings. After some celebratory lawndarting in small ships to demonstrate our sheer joy, I returned to the lately neglected larger buses to do some cargo shifting for artificial dosh...

I even managed to park this empty Caterpillar at Levski...scraped the paint a tad since the Cat is a really tight fit into that hangar... but no untoward reversed throttle nonsense and unwanted boosting into the scenery when pressing menu buttons.

Then I parked this half full Caterpillar, scraped the paint again but made more than enough artificial dosh to repair it...

Finally, a full Caterpillar (595 tonnes) and no scraped paint. It could almost be said I'm learning even though I still persist in playing Star Citizen...I'd make a vid...but I play SC just like I do Elite, lots of trading and a bit of mining. Certainly no shouting and staged FPS nonsense... which to most would be like watching paint dry. ;)

You do mining? You actually gave CIG money to mine?
