It doesnt necessarily autocorrect. It will take you to a system that starts with whatever was typed or has whatever was typed in system like a planet or station name. For example if you type of Meredith City into the search bar lft 926 will come up. If you type PSR and search you can keep searching it'll cycle through all of the psrs

Yea I knew of the mechanic if you typed in say crab nebula it'll take you to a star within crab nebula. I've never seen it actually take you to a completely different named star when typing what he demonstrated.

It happens because there are several different observatories, universities and national space agencies which have quite different catalouging techniques and names. For example if you write HD 91316 to your galaxy map, it will show you my jewel, which is looking upon our galaxy from top. The Id of the stars in the Henry Draper catalogue is HD. HIP 51624 is the reference name for the jewel in the Hipparcos Star Catalogue. Rho Leonis is the Bayer Classification for the star.

I did not know that. Thank you very much for the information.

Greetings Commanders,

possibly an old hoax, but it looks interesting nevertheless. I haven't found this link in the forum, so I post it here. If I'm wrong, sorry and forget this post.
So, has someone checked this picture?: Too good to be true?
Could be manipulated, of course. But for me it doesn't seem so. I've checked the image using Gimp and other tools. And it might be real.
I can't find any strange artifacts in this picture, which would suggest a manipulation.
Please prove me wrong or I'll go crazy.
What do you think? Confirmed hoax? Manipulated image? (If yes, how can you tell that it has been manipulated? (I'm eager to learn .. :)))

I'm panning and zooming around the galaxy map to find an angle which could lead to the possible area where the pic was taken. Difficult..
The name of the target in the blurred panel seems too long

Image forensics also returned some blurry artifacts over the target:

But the cockpit also got this blurred effect around it:

Not sure what it worth...

Also the user don't have any other pictures posted on imgur and seems to have created this account just for this ones.
Hello Commanders,
just regarding the most likely hoax discussed previously, OP of the picture uploaded 2 pics actually.

and made a "statement":
"i was expecting doubt. i dont mind it. here is a cool fact: raxxla speaks. i wont be giving any clues, or bother with any further proof. "

I never really did photo forensics but I tried, did not really discover anything so maybe one of you could run it and check how much the second pic could be adjusted?

A simple way is to look at the R. The font is wrong in the picture. iirc when this picture first came out, I checked in game with other R fonts and they were consistent with each other, i.e. the picture has the wrong R font. I might be wrong, you guys can try seeing it in game again.

Sadly, I can't say that I'm actually back. I was logging into a bunch of sites to update passwords. I'd have to say that it's been over a year since I've done any serious playing or contemplating the mystery of Raxxla. Frontier's stance regarding the place of Lore in Elite Dangerous pretty much put a nail in the coffin for my passion for the game. Lore has always been a huge part of Elite starting with The Dark Wheel Novella and all the way to releasing eight books to go along with the latest version of the game.

I had a lot of fun with Elite and hanging out with all of you on the forums. On the bright side I've lost about 14 kilograms (30 pounds) since stepping away from the game and now use the hours that I once spent each day piloting the galaxy to be more physically active and engaged in my family's lives. No complaints. Fly dangerous, CMDRs.

Congratulations on breaking the loop.

It's most probably a bug, but on the galmap, in realistic mode, when I select a system, its star is being doubled or tripled. It happened few times where I am:
LBN 623 sector IH-V C2-14

Any of you experienced this?

Edit:Can't upload photos or videos for now. Forum issue...

Tip off missions (i believe is what you mean) have so far been inconclusive. I almost always chase them down when I get them just in case though

Yes, I’ve done a few in the past, but never consistently (have refused a few) & definitely not gone looking for them. The “mysterious stranger” phrase is enticing, might well fit TDW, but does the type of mission? And if so would it be the total number of them done? The geographic spread? Is there a count for these in the Cmdr stats?

thanks, hadn't spotted the time, just dived straight into the vid.
Doesnt actually say anything that we havent said in this thread many times. It's nice to have a mystery to chase, the hunt is where the fun lies & finding it might be disappointing, good if one person finds it and perhaps exploits it somehow, maye not so good if many find it, would be nice for finding it to start a whole new mystery...
