Elite has always had pew pew in it though. I don't understand the issue.I think that was his point.

You've made a lot of assumptions, which is not unreasonable since FD hasn't described the gameplay yet. But "PvP" is not explicitly mentioned. For all we know it is only NPC missions. We just don't know yet. Those of us that were actually interested in base building on the other hand. Frontier proved with that response to tell us that they are not listening to their players at all. They could of stepped in and said that at any time in the months preceding this. Frontier isn't invested in their customers just their stockholders.
Currently, Odyssey is not shaping up to offer content I'll be interested in. Just like the fleet carriers. I do not have interest in renting someone else's base. I want to own and operate my own.
Frontier has never made a first person shooter before. They have thus far also remained using a peer to peer networking system. Which means 98% of the entire game runs on the client side and only a portion is server side for the purpose of logged data. This is why pvp in open play experiences so much rubber banding among other errors.
I use a 1080 TV, does that count? And how many more people have 1080p monitors?
Just see the new Unreal Engine. VR was never mentioned even ONCE. Time to move on.
I have ...1920 x 1080. Is it old already? >: But I don't need bigger.And how many more people have 1080p monitors?
I'd already crossed that bridge earlier today...Great summary. I wonder how those wonderful folks would feel if the expansion suddenly became VR-only!
Basically any thread/post you see supporting VR is campaigning to get frontier to agree to "Keep both VR & 2D" in the game, because there is a collective worry that they are going to make the game 2D only. We are not asking them to remove 2D and make it VR only, instead we are asking them to NOT make it 2D only.
Sure I am aware of that although I have seen posts in other places suggesting VR only so I was wanting to get my view on the "record"
Fair dinkum. I hadnt seen any such posts, but if I had I would have countered them saying to keep both VR & 2D.
Yes, as ED has a different launcher for VR.
Yes guys, I know several people in my town playing on VR. Don't think for a moment I am un-informed.
I hope so. Even if it's standard movement ala WSAD to begin with and then add in other ways of movement for other people that can't cope with that. I can handle the movement like that myself. It's things like this that pretty much guarantee that (while it can't be confirmed by the community team today because it's not running in 3D today) VR support WILL get added before the release date. I'm calling it.

Unreal Engine 5 Supports VR, Promises Generational Leap For Graphics
Epic Games just showcased its vision of next-generation console gameplay with the reveal of Unreal Engine 5. Not only that, but the new engine supports VR headsets. Below you can see a stunning new technical showcase for Unreal Engine 5 called Lumen in the Land of Nanite. It features theuploadvr.com
The exact same words were used to placate PSVR commanders you know. And while I completely understand why it didn't come to fruition - inferior hardware - I don't expect it to be added to PC VR after comments of "evaluation" etc. That's corpo speak I've heard many times in a professional line of work essentially cotton-wrapping the fact that the feature the Client requested won't be delivered, period...What part of NO VR AT LAUNCH do you guys not get?
how much?Anyone want to buy my Valve Index? one careful owner and only used for Elite
Yes...Lol. I'm sure space legs will be just as much pew pew as the main game, which is a reasonable amount.
That depends of that planet is locked behind the Odyssey permit lock. Sure planets that you can land in horizons you will be able to fly down on, then restart in 2D mode to have a walk around.
And you conveniently ignore the none combat stuff that was mentioned.I gracefully disagree.
"The Sphere of Combat
Experience intense first-person combat, kit out your character with an array of weapons and gear, and coordinate with teammates to master a multi-layered, deep, tactical environment where Commanders, SRVs and Starships converge. "
Thats quite like the definition of "FPS glued to the Elite sceleton"...
I certainly hope so too.I do hope that Horizons will be expanded with the new planets and that existing ones will be upgraded too - like ice worlds as teased already.
If they do that, I don't care about the rest.
Not a stat on ED, but on steam in general.
My guess is that the numbers in ED are higher, since it was marketed as a VR game.
But what this show is the potential market for VR, and needless to say that its... low.
Frankly I understand why ED are adamant to invest in such a niche technology, its sad to see people go over this, but I'm sure that there will be WAY more new players that don't care about VR.
And frankly, I wonder if its really such a bad thing...
I mean, there has been some comments form the VR crowd.
"If there is no VR in the new update, I wish there was no update at all"
"I don't care if the previous versions of Elite still supports VR, since the new expansion wont have it I will uninstall the game"
I mean, come on guys. I understand that you must somewhat justify that 2500$ kit, and I understand that seeing that less and less games will support it is concerning for you.
But history shows that day one adopters often expose themselves to see the technology being abandoned, its a risk.
The technology simply was not ready yet for mass adoption.
Now, the focus from big game developers has shifted to Raytracing.
Just see the new Unreal Engine. VR was never mentioned even ONCE. Time to move on.
Nope. I'm a software developer who is lucky enough to make a good living. Not interested in VR.How about you just admitt that you are simply to poor to afford a good rig and a good VR headset? /s
Is Elite Dangerous: Odyssey coming to VR?
Currently, Elite Dangerous: Odyssey will not be VR-compatible at launch. We’re big fans of VR and we are truly proud of the amazing experience that we currently offer in Elite Dangerous. However, the new gameplay, mechanics and features that will be introduced with Elite Dangerous: Odyssey means that we had to re-examine if we could deliver that same experience without compromise, which, for launch, means Odyssey will not be VR-compatible.
Just block the ones you don't want to read... easy...
I feel sorry for the people coming to this thread hoping to find out about Odyssey, and to have fun speculations about what it might be.
Steam recently announced that more people now have VR headsets than 4K monitors.
Sorry to urinate in your unikornflakes - but I've got both 65" 4k + VR:And how many more people have 1080p monitors?
Hope so as I'm using a 65" 4k Samsung TV as my "monitor".I use a 1080 TV, does that count?![]()
