As just posted I retrieved this from an installation, but couldn't see how I could utilise it

yeah usual flavour text, the inbox message will disappear on relog, implies to me its nothing more than flavour. Very interested to read Zulu actually meant something at all. Makes me think all the others do as well, have a basis in RL, and seemingly often in Shipping or British Navy.

Instead “Parent’s Grief” implies the source of the grief; the only satisfactory solution for that is “death of a child”

Widen it to 'loss' of a child. Might have lost a child to a cult, to an adventure, to an addiction (fernweh), not brilliant examples but....

Similarly “Lover’s Woe” should be abandonment/separation/broken heart/heartache

Yes, and the 2 could be the same reason.

There is always the slim chance that someone stumbles across a book that is the real 'Princess Astrophel and the spiralling stars', but I'm not sure there is one at all.

I had a theory its either contained in one of the novels/novellas published with the game or its just flavour to acknowledged and dismiss this old myth in place of the retconned one. Seemingly the latter from the Codex.

Though I disagree on the date. I think it’s relevant, otherwise why put it in.

I think t just gives a 'long history' or 'mythological status' to the myth of Raxxla. ie its not new its ancient

but if so I don’t like it! It would be very bad English grammar!!!

Agreed, but wouldnt be the first time. Cant see it however, the entrire thing would be wrong not just one word or sentence. Agree with you.

I think the date is relevant because of the Mars relic, that was found in the 2280s.
I suspect it contains some sort of info about Raxxla and leaked info lead to the start of the myth.
Thus we'd know about it even if no - one had ever been there..

I think its something like this if not this exactly. Some signal or info that mentions Raxxla but we never actually found it, just this hint of it.

Location: Altais 2 B, Coordinates: 46.9085° 1.8115°; may have been a big now fixed. Never visited it to see.

941 Pages and you mention this now! Jorki! :) What else does everyone assume we know that some of us have no idea about if we only been playing year or two? Where was the source can you remember? GalNet? Going to check this out asap. This is exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for as the 'source' of the myth of Raxxla.

Mmm, no I can’t buy into this book. I think if Greek mythology is the key then we have to go back to the original sources, not a recent interpretation of what the author thinks is symbolically relevant.

Good luck with going back to the original... it's spawned a thousand translations and interpretations over the years most of it conflicting one way or another!

I find this book interesting (not saying it's anymore correct than any other hypothesis!) as it gives some references to stars and constellations and I take their interpretation with a big a pinch of salt as I do with any other... If I take note of something from a particular author I then look to see if there are any other similar references and how commonly something is proposed and whether it might have some Elite reference. Some items like the theory on Penelope, I believe to be unique so far and merely logged away as a possibility (If there is an in game system reference I visit the system do a full scan, note anything of interest and move on), Alcyone is pretty unusual for Thargoid activity in my opinion and I am currently wondering why and does it have any relevance.... other's I've visited recently have no unusual behaviour that immediately stands out.

I was merely pointing out some items that may warrant further thought or going back and assessing what I was looking at personally, as with all this we can all have our own preferred tinfoiled observations. I'll keep putting them up for you and everyone to take as you/they wish

"Someone pointed out that Odysseus met his mother Anticlea (in-game) in the Underworld; however then the “clue” should read “Grieving Parent”. Instead “Parent’s Grief” implies the source of the grief; the only satisfactory solution for that is “death of a child”, but can’t find a corresponding solution in myth/Odyssey." - Yes that was me when you had issues with your ennui ;-)

When you say "the only satisfactory solution for that is “death of a child”" as in Anticlea grieving for the possibly death of her son who goes off fighting for 10 years and is not heard of for another 10 years, with the family left believing he may be dead? and I fear logic and grammar may not be the ultimate guide to poetic license....

just a thought!

Or maybe we should write the book ourselves... since we are living in the past....

What I’m looking for is two greek names (possibly gods since they caused these things) or words that represent the grief/woe/loss/fernweh and are in-game systems..

Its been discussed on here already and I cant remember the names but the obvious fit is the one about the lass who gets kidnapped by God of the Underworld, also includes Sirens.

I still think the missing line in the toast is 'Raxxla is a curse and the cause of'... The Parents Grief etc etc

Persephone. Kidnapped by Hades and she ate some pomegranate seeds while down there. Therefore it was agreed upon that she would spend 6 months of the year with hades and 6 months with her mother, Demeter. So while she’s gone her mother grieves and it becomes winter (since she’s the goddess of the harvest) and while she’s topside it’s summer and hades is without his wife.

Has anyone ever figured out the usefulness of the “show constellations” function in the galmap? They only show up if you’re zoomed in on Sol and it’s not like it gives you any info on them and if you move away from Sol they disappear. They don’t even look right and some are incomplete honestly. Other than that I think they’re visible when zoomed in on Delphi. But doesn’t really seem to have a function and FDEV seems all too eager to remove stuff and yet this has stayed the whole time unchanged. Would they spend the time to put in such a seemingly useless feature or is there something about it that i don’t know or weve missed?

I have found yet another anomaly in the Galactic Map I cannot explain. I have headed back to the bubble using Sol as a good pinpoint where I noticed something odd. If I zoom close to Sol there appears to be connected systems nearby... almost like warp directions ie, your options on where your drive can take you. However these lines are much thicker and can only be viewed from the areas around Sol. Also some of the connections go a lot further between systems than a conventional drive could go. If you move the map away from Sol they vanish. They almost look like constellations but nothing I know of. I have also played with map filter settings and they do not effect anything.
It is hard to explain so anyone ( I'm on PC ) can verify if I am not going mad or missed something I would be grateful.

EDIT. Bloody ninja'd by Garand! How odd!

Only just seen that myself. Haha, co-incidence.
