Nope, AFAIK, Jacques was originally intended to go to Beagle Point by FD. The misjump to Colonia happened as a result of the massive UA bombing of Jacques Station by various players in advance of the jump happening. It was still done by FD, as those kind of jumps were all server side things implemented by FD, and so still is a plot device of sorts, but a one which was responsive and adaptive to player action, rather than being a purely pre-planned plot device. It's been cited before by FD as an example of where player action changed the storyline.
Ah yes, the reported destination was BP and the “misjump” was implemented by FD server side, but come on-
as soon as Galnet reported that UAs damaged stations FD were hanging a sign on the side of Jaques saying “bomb me”!!! 😉
I think if certain players hadn’t jumped on that “gameplay” path then FD would have still had gone that route.

In the original Elite game, a miss-jump would imply you dropping in whichspace... you ended up on a dark area with no visible stars or planets and a bunch of Thargoid ships around just to attack if they notice your ship flying too fast.

In Elite dangerous, whenever your jump drive malfunctions, you arrive someplace else in normal space... you can still call it a miss-jump, but not the same kind we'd would have in the original game.
In FE2 and I think also FFE you would get a drive malfunction, if you skipped drive maintenance. It would drop you in interstellar space, between the departure and the destination system. This would often leave you stranded, with no option but reloading a save file.

Currently in Sol's main asteroid belt investigating the "asteroid clusters". Sunday I found them in segments 5, 17, 8, today in 21, 5, 22, 5. In mid December I found them in segments 21, 17, 6, 15, 8, 11, 19, 5, 19 & 6. (My numbering scheme:

). Now someone spotted that the belt is rotating slowly, so don't know if that affects my numbering scheme. Getting fed up with this! Not interesting gameplay!!

Asteroids in the main belt orbits the sun in about 3.5-5.5 years. I guess even invisible clusters orbits at about this pace. 🤷‍♂️

they were joking, the Morse spells out Hesperus, and theres a whole GalNet article about the Hesperus....basically its a mystery in the making so keep your eyes open co nobody knows when it will drop....or where for that matter.

Edit: There was a Twitter pic with Morse Code spelling 'Hesperus' and a separate LS where in Morse 'Adamastor' was repeated twice at the beginning so they werent joking although as you will see it took me some time to catch up :)

I am fairly confident that the HUD displaying the asteroids is present in all parts of ALL segments, and is consistently repeatable by anyone/everyone. Dropping to the system plane seems to achieve these results without fail for me, it's never failed in 40+ trips to random locations within the asteroid zone.

What IS interesting to me, on a slightly related note, is that (happily) the orbital eccentricity of the belt in Sol is 0.00.... which means that however far from the Sun the asteroids are in orbit remains consistent... just a small thing in our favor.

OK so it looks to me that this whole ship of fools narrative is obviously gearing up towards Odyssey.

Thanks to leaked content and FD we know there is to be Thargoid fighting coming, there’s war brewing, and I believe this story is setting up for some reveal possibly within the loop or some other nebula. That much I feel is certain.

Just a waiting game at present, in my humble opinion, no content will be uploaded until FD are ready, possibly just in time for Alpha. So I’m not going to get my pantaloons in a twist over it.

Is it regarding Raxxla? I hope by Zeus’s beard it isn’t but experience teaches if something seems too good to be true, it probably is, so it works in reverse here.

At most the Col sector will get unlocked or the ships give a triangulation point of origin / destination and a star to sail by...
