Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 4

for @sallymorganmoore
Have tried all this thread's work arounds to get steam to play without success; sad but please don't give up -- my addiction to this game requires its daily dose so back to Xbox for now; I'll monitor this thread and when you can push an update that works, I'll give EDO another go and feed my PC Elite: Dangerous addiction there too.

Thanks for reading my mind; I'm in and can now work on getting my PC account (450hrs) caught up to my Xbox account (7.5K hrs) - actually enjoy ED more on PC so Thanks again, o7
just a thought, did you try to uninstall and reinstall ??

Hiya Sally, tell the team once again thank you for the fixes, so far they make a huge list with all 4 updates but most of all I like the fact that you and others are finally connecting with players more on the forum which is how is should be, after all we are not just players, we are customers.

Well, I have to admit to being extremely frustrated by this turn of events, this was our last chance to get bug reports in before the ‘final’ Update 5.

Now the opportunity is lost due to a borked patch deployment, the connecting issues will be fixed in short order, the bugs however will be left.
There's still plenty of time to get feedback and tickets in. Working on patches and reports doesn't stop from one day to another.

Okey, game starts now.
I'm still forced to play ugly 720p on 1080p monitor with like 15 fps on ground station.
My 1050 gpu is 5% better then on PS4. So...have no idea how u will release that on consoles.
send me more info or just make a screen shot of your graphics options and post it to me.

So great Work is still have under 30 FPS in Low on FHD with a 3900x / 32GB Ram / 3060TI and game on a SSD with latest drivers.

THE GAME DID WORK SOMEWHAT OK AT LAUNCH!

but with each update i get worse FPS what are you doing...

I get really p****d now to pay this broken DLC and you break it even more with each update

LIKE REALLY P****D!!

Right listen you o7

I need to head off now because I'm prepping for the stream later and I need to get myself sorted.
It seems as though stability is coming back following the latest Steam fix, so that's great to see. Please do add a ticket to the tracker if you have further problems or reach out to CS or @FrontierHelp if you use Twitter for any account issues.

For anyone who left update feedback amidst the spiralling Sidewinders and other issues we've faced collectively today - I'll hook on to them best I can and also go through my DMs tomorrow, for those links I asked for there.

Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for working so hard with me to talk through things and iron our any creases today. You're great.

I'll be around o7

Interesting. For me the game is kinda (20 fps at worst in settlements) playable on my laptop with GTX 1050, i5-7300 and 16 GB of ram - it looks like a*s (low + 720p) but it is playable... When I get back from work I'll check how it runs on my recommended specs desktop.

How is the performance? Anything close to Horizons yet?
it gets worse with each update atleast for me
To be angry don't help yourself CMDR.
Well i lost 40€ to a 1-15 FPS slideshow in Planetary stations on Low with my not so average pc and have NO!!! chance to get a refund so sure i am gonna be angry. since the first "update" i cant play on planets & Stations at all. (before i played in 4K High / Ultra with okayish FPS in stations / planetary stations - 40-60 FPS)

Dont tell me to not be mad if Frontier rips me off this badly!!

Ive flown above settlements not even on the settlement on foot and can agree framerate drops hugely when close to a settlement even in a ship its laggy as hell but Im sure you will get it fixed.

Whatever you did doesn't work.

Security hailed me for a scan but there was a barrier between us so he ran to go around it, then stopped. At this point the notification telling me that I was to be scanned disappeared so I assumed everything was ok. As soon as I moved he shot at me. To add insult to injury I now have a fine for nothing and a failed mission.

@sallymorganmoore - any news on when we might get a progress counter against the Odyssey engineers - The original Horizons Engineers you can see how close (or far) you are away from unlocking them. With the new Odyssey engineers I have no idea how close I might be to hitting the unlock requirements.

Who told you it was the last chance to get bug reports in? We will still very much be taking feedback regardless. Today is not the only day to provide feedback - keep it coming! o7
Okey, here I see old/new bugs in 10 mins in 1 fight:
Came to crash signal 3, scanned beacon BY SHIP, died on foots:
1. lost "intel for alliance" as well - really? It was ship stored data.
2. much harder to fight, fps shows 20 as it was, but things shake so much...cant aim. Rocket hit NPC, he flew like 400m away.

Went to station, now "fix" which is really "bug":
3. Menu highlights "local service", but I need to refuel/repair, why? More clicks. When I click/press those refuel/repair focus jumps randomly, to "local service", to "disambark", really? Why? Like somebody is drunk there.

Don't see any improvements really. Same barely working.

Just had a particularly nasty interaction in a military base where I was trying to comply with a scan request.

I was challenged from an NPC standing on the planets surface but as I was standing on building plinth they started to walk towards a small ramp to get to me. To make things move more quickly I stepped down onto the planets surface, but (probably) left the line of sight temporarily. This escalated into a fight immediately, and my parked ship was targetted by other ships and destroyed. Back to the penitantary for me, even though I only had fines (and hadn't fired a shot).

I would suggest that if the NPC loses line of sight briefly then it should escalate to an alert status (yellow icon) and, if the player is still not compliant after a period of time, then go hostile/call in the situation. Hopefully that covers most edge cases (this AI stuff is hard!)

Interactions
  • Added icons and information about engineered modules to the module rebuy and stored modules screen.

I've tried looking for this, but can only see a modifications tab that appears to be new. It is also non-functional (I can't get it to display).

I was thinking more along these lines for updates in this area:

Don't hide engineering stats
Don't hide engineering stats II

Thanks for listening!

Edit: fixed the first link

Then if I take a couple more steps, I see this weirdness:

Oh wow, just saw these circles a couple nights ago. If that could be fixed, that'd be awesome. The circles distribution is really random and interesting as a surface...i.e. it would be great landing on a moon that had a surface, intentionally, like that.

Another graphics thing, is after landing in an APEX shuttle, and it turns around on the turntable, going into the hangar. If you look at the pilot, she'll gleam white about 130° into the turn-around. It seems like some reflection shader/graphics thing. It almost happens, or slightly less intense, to the AI in ground conflicts, etc.
