“ more likely to reveal itself to a group of players”
WHERE DID THIS ORIGINATE???
Until we find the source it is just another unsubstantiated rumour and likely a red herring...but it could be the key to the mystery. Perhaps it’s been deleted because of that, too obvious a clue???

Cmdr Koben recalled an early video interview with David Braben that sounds similar
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-quest-to-find-raxxla.168253/post-8194682

“Someone asked him about Raxxla and the answer was:
DB: "- It would be more likelly to reveal itself to a group of players."
Interviewer: "- How so?"
DB: "- If you are at the right place and you scan it enough..."
Interviewer: "- Advanced scanner or the basic one?"
DB: "- Basic scanning is enough."
Interviewer: "- But you have to be Elite..."
DB: "- You have to be Elite." “
That's the conversation I was thinking of.

Yeah, it could be hearsay, but as I said, you have to let yourself believe something, otherwise what's the point of engaging with Raxxla at all?

So this is one of the premises I accept as real on my quest for Raxxla

For now, obviously. With mysteries like this, everything is subject to change at a whim, or the uncovering of a new clue!

IF it is true then Raxxla must be in Shinrarta, since that is the only place that requires elite rank. If we can find the source for this rumour then it would warrant a concentrated coordinated search in Shinrarta, which is a big system so needs some evidence to justify.

Maybe. Or, if its The Dark Wheel Station, it could be some clue or other thing you have to interact with in order to be able to then find Raxxla, wherever it is.

I think 8th moon of a GG is a red herring, or perhaps an indirect clue to Raxxla. Rochester asked customer support about TDW station and IIRC got the answer that it is not currently in-game. So the associated Codex text is either bumpf, or misdirection with a different meaning to what we are thinking. Sufficient doubt is given in the j over Lyta Crane’s veracity that I have never believed the claim.

Could be, but for now, I'm keeping it. There is a Gas Giant in Shinrarta Dezhra with an 8th moon, afterall :alien:

And if you’re looking at the Alleged Toast the answer...

I go backwards and forwards on how much of a clue/relevance The Toast has - but whilst I'm chasing Elite it's something to do - hence my visit to the Cassiopeia stars, and my intent to go to Rho Cassiopeia after the Crab Nebula - it's quite a way out from there!

Having seen a yoochoob vid of someone visiting it, iirc the honk reveals 7 bodies, so no 8th moon there either, so I'm not hopeful, but it's somewhere to go on my quest for Exploration Elite!
Yes, I suspect if Raxxla itself is not in Shinrarta then a clue must lie therein!

Absolutely agreed! I very much hope there is some sort of clue, pointer or key to Raxxla in Shinrarta Dezhra - just gotta make Elite so I can help look for it!

Good luck in your search. A lot of the fun of this Quest is thinking up your own hypotheses and then checking them out.

Another interpretation of the 8th moon phrasing is that it’s misdirection, and it could be a moon of the 8th planet, which is a GG. Many people have pointed out that could be Sol’s Neptune (Sol 8), which coincidentally (??) happens to be the name of Alex Ryder’s son & the leader of TDW. His brother Oberon (Uranus IV!) argued with him about the search for Raxxla and formed the splinter group the Circle of Independent Elite Pilots with the goal of using Soontill's power to protect humanity (source: And Here The Wheel). Both names are bodies in Sol, where spaceflight started and since TDW has been in existence since the beginning of spaceflight (Codex) then it is likely that TDW station would be in Sol if it were in-game.

The TDW is supposed to be a very old design. When testing out my “Hunt the Princess” hypothesis I found one in system Anna Perenna, a Coriolis “Wisoff Holdings” with twin booms, think there might have been another old fashioned type too, but I made the mistake of tidying up my notes 😱. Ashe, Athena, Aurora have outposts with glass roofs over the hangar area-handcrafted? Why??

Another possibility for TDW station is Jacque’s place.

Edit: just been trying to find the more detailed notes from my Hunt the Princess hypothesis. Failed, but found another deleted note which is way old but may be of interest, wrt again to interpretation of codex phrasing, specifically Art & Cora Tornqvis. Now Art is obviously Heart, and (so Google told me, never watched the programme) in the Queen of Hearts (Episode). ... Princess Cora Mills, also known as the Queen of Hearts, is a character on ABC's Once Upon a Time and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. So my immediate thought ... is there an in-game system named Wonderland?

Early morning tea ramblings…

‘Prince Silverwings and Other Stories’ is a 1902 children's book by Edith Ogden Harrison. It’s thought to have inspired the Wizard of Oz…and possibly (can’t find source) is linked to the Pleiades (whose stars I think are referred as spiralling (although I’m likely wrong)).

She also wrote, ‘Princess Sayrane: a romance of the days of Prester John’ - illus. Harold H. Betts (1910)…

Time for another biscuit.

Cheers! And I agree, a big slice of the fun is the tinfoil-journey

Interesting, I've only read the original The Dark Wheel, so don';t know of the Ryder's extended story.

Sol does keep coming up in my thoughts, and if Shin Dehz turns out to be a bust, that's probably where I'd turn to next!

I've thought that too, but currently discount it as I'm choosing to accept that Raxxla has been in game since launch, or at least fairly soon after.

...is linked to the Pleiades (whose stars are spinning).

Are they now. I've not heard of them being referred to that way before. Desire to know more intensifies.

Hmm, that makes me reconsider Delphi - I wanted it to be significant because of the Omphalos/centre of the world (universe? galaxy?) connections, but it was renamed to Delphi long after launch, so I've been discounting it for the same reason as Jaques, above.

But I really want it to be significant

Time for another biscuit.

Goes off in search of biscuits.

But before I go, here's a little something I spotted down Pleaides way, en-route to the California Nebula, and beyond:

It's clearly a clue!

And a sign that I'm on the right path!

This is a Commander name, and I think I located the commander, although the commander is no longer using the name.

Mentioned in the bottom of this post as an alt-account.

Spinning / Spiralling / Rotating / Dancing! Just turn of phrase.

Perhaps - but I like that!

I think maybe the Pleiades are my new favourite for 'the spiralling stars' of the Raxxla mystery.

Previously I was thinking it might be Source 2, orbiting Sag A* (CMDR RezaB made a compelling video about that here on yoochoob). - jump to 4:40 for the relevant bit!

I still think that's what the Galnet News Logo is though - Source 2!

The Plieades being 'the spiralling stars' also lets me cling onto the notion that Delphi is somehow relevant for a little bit longer :LOL:👾

I've set off on my odyssey (small o! Although I do have Odyssey!), to the Crab Nebula and Rho Casseiopieae! Back in a bit!

"A place that is not a place, a door that is also the key"

Just an an update: I think I found a map and details of the system where Raxxla is located. Go to any big station: Orbis, Coriolis, or Ocellus. Dock and go to camera suite. Get images of the following: engine barriers of the landing pad (you should be able to see this even when laying flat), front of the station with the toaster and ATC plus the outer ring, get a similar screenshot of the rear of the station. The engine barriers are consistent across outposts and the big stations - listing is as follows: 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 3a (these are likely the landables in the system). Based on the front and back of the stations, I'd say we looking for system with a gas giant with rings in a system with 3 inner planets and either 5-6 outer worlds. Regardless, if you look at the engine barriers and both ends of the station we are likely looking for something surrounding "planet" 6 (interpret planet as loosely as possible here). The gas giant could be a brown dwarf which is not really a planet but not a star either. I suspect we are looking for the 8 moons in addition here but that is very much a guess. Also, still very much refining this idea. There are lights on ATC (the edge of the ATC) and the outer ring of both ends of the large stations that may mean something. It is consistent and repeated on every large station I have been to.

NOTE: Align your ship like the Raxxla Codex image and you will notice that view of either end of the large stations shares an uncanny resemblance to the Codex image.

The effect is much more noticable on stations that are not palm tree stations or tourist stations.

That was just the image I had in my library (taken because it does look like the Raxxla logo) - where I am right now, there ain't no stations, but I'll take a closer look when I get to the Crab Nebula - Station X

Could you elaborate/annotate the zoomed bit - I get the general gist, but would like to better understand what you interpret each of the markings to mean?

Those things are decorative connections to the inner portion of the rear of the station and they are present on the front but around the ring with toast rack. I think the singular one is the star and the 3 groupings of 3 represents a set of 9 planets. If you start looking at your ship (cockpit and exterior), stations, outposts, etc. You will begin to notice that 6 is repeated a lot. I think the lights at both ends of the stations are important because of this (there are 6 and the form the shape of the Raxxla logo). It's not a name of a system but even something as consequential as which bodies would be landable, total number of bodies, position of the body with Raxxla, etc would be tremendously helpful in narrowing the search.

👾

I've recorded the radio transmission tower in the middle of the stations for quite some time. Hours and hours of records, but I've not been able to decipher the code from the towers.
Note: Not all towers transmit anything, but it seems 60-70% of the stations have some kind of transmission.
I forgot about this until you mentioned the link between the images, I was investigating this as a separate mystery :)

It may look something like this in Audacity

I have however categorized some of the symbols, example collection:
1646063255848.png

I've shared this with Cannon & other folks previously, but usually I've got comments like "spacemadness", "stay away from the onions" :D

I hope someone else can make more sense of it. :)
Note: I don't have my old recordings anymore, as it is very easy to record those transmissions. (Use Audio->Night mode + external cam)

EDIT: Found a 6 year old recording of mine on twitch. The problem back then is that we didn't have external cam I think:

I hadn't quite set up the logarithms and filtering quite well, something we did in later attempts.

The mirroring reinforces the suspicion that they were placed on purpose. The only thing I can think of are Bearing Rate Graphs. However, they are not mirror symmetrical. Also, you don't see any scale. And always only one contact. Maybe its only in Stations were Bugstuff (Targoid sensors etc.) has been sold?

I recorded those signals 6 years ago in v.2.1.0.5 on twitch.
Thargoids had not been revealed, however the UA/UL may have been a reality at that time.

However, I think the signals was detected a bit earlier (I suspect it was with 2.0, in 2015), at the time we were investigating all kind of signals.
The Transmission towers were just one of the cases together with the 'galaxy mountain signal' and some of the others.
