Patch Notes Update 2.3 Beta, Update 2.1

Hi everyone,

With the latest beta release (2.3 Beta 2.01), we’ve enable the new multicrew feature. We are aware of various issues that are revolving around multicrew currently. Please note that these issues will be fixed in due time. However, at this point, we’ve decided to allow our beta testers to have at it, so we can start compiling any additional issues that get reported. With a feature this complex, this is very much a beta test... we implore you to make sure you raise bug reports for problems you might encounter in our bug reports forum here.

As always, we’ll be closely monitoring the situation, and if it proves that multicrew has too many issues for the moment then we’ll disable it and hammer away at it some more for a future beta build.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

  • Enabled multicrew.
  • Fix to correctly handle race condition when router type discovery takes longer than mtu discovery
  • Don't try and handle invalid IPV6 addresses
  • Collect direct telemetry on all IPv6 sync attempts
  • Prevent over-counting sync attempts in network statistics due to switching to Turn
  • Exclude Teredo addresses when looking for an IPv6 network connection
  • Fix credits for beta test starter pack
  • Adjusted the amount of exploration ranking awarded from selling exploration data to be 50% of the credits value, 20% of the credits value of Passenger Sightseeing missions and 40% of Long Distance expedition missions

So what sort of issues are the team having with multicrew like whats going wrong with it what sort of bugs? Just curious.

Too little too late. Everyone and their dog is exploration elite by now just by being in the mere vicinity of a passenger cabin. From nothing to Elite in a matter of a few playing sessions.

You might as well just remove the Elite ranks, and give everyone founders world access, since any achievement in attaining them has been made utterly meaningless.

To Frontier Developments,

This is the final straw. How completely inconsiderate are you? Just looking through these forums you can plainly see that multi-crew is the priority of every Elite player the world over, and you have chosen the middle of a WORK DAY to finally unlock this feature in the 2.3 beta. Don't you understand that you should be working around what is convenient for the majority of your playerbase who, like me, work solid 9-5 GMT and are now stuck in our workplaces unable to participate in the beta that WE PAID FOR!

Honestly, I don't understand how you can make such a elementary mistake that is not checking the work schedules of your loyal community (except for the Australians, but until they have a decent net infastructure no one cares about them anyway). I am now losing hours of looking at stuff before anyone else does! Time is money people!

First the disgraceful delay of the beta itself, then you don't even include the only feature ANYONE cares about, but now you sneakily activate multi-crew WHEN I AM AT WORK! The way you treat your loyal commanders is so abusive it borders on criminal! There are almost 2 other space games we could be playing! Looking at only part of the picture on this "active users" tool it is clear now that others feel the same as me and are leaving your joke of a game in droves; and because this is MY opinion it is also the opinion of the many thousands of people who I have never met but just KNOW they think as correctly as I do!

This is the death knell of Elite: Dangerous. You mark my words!

No.. no. I don't want to take the pills! I don't want too!!!!

(incoherant screams taper off into the distance)

UP the voltage . . .

Having no friends, multi-crew does little for me . . . do love the lack of instructions and explanations, do love having to "figure it out". Not.

is it really too much to ask for a coherent explanation of what all these crazy controls do? Loved how the Battlefield franchise simply provided a nice, little sandbox to test key bindings in.

Multi-Crew is good fun but I can not use Gunner as Mouse is too restricted to just YAW so can not use it well.
Can't use Gunner well.
Can't use Camera Suite fully.
However, it's a start...here's me and Sylvia testing in a RES. We made 4.2million each in an hour.

Really .... i Must be nobody its because i really don't care about multi crew unless its to have some bounty hunting fun with my game friends !

I don't see why that would be obvious. There's no technical reason why you can't invite someone to crew with you in your Solo session, if fighting other players is not your thing.

Is there?

Except that of course the more pedantic among us will start up with "then it's not solo is it" ;)

Well that's not exactly pedantry, more a statement of blatantly obvious fact. The 'technical reason' why you can't invite someone else into your solo session is that it would make it a private group. Really not sure what aspect of that you find confusing.

It probably uses a different server or instance type. So yeah would be more of a technical reason.

Can you please elaborate on this?
You've adjusted these values from....what?

Thanks

Trying it out now...

Was capt twice...this seemed to work ok, crew member joined and flew my fighter, died and then stalled and logged out. Second guy joined and ran turrets. Seems like it was pretty hard, we ended up shooting our side in a combat zone and had to bug out.

I have tried to join a crew prob 8 times. Keep getting kicked out be people who didnt want to run the helm, who were trying to queue with friends or just kept ending the session. Then MC wouldnt let me join other crews at all.

Seems like it will be a pretty cool feature once kinks ironed out.

Had a cracking run last night at Multi-crew.

Had a few issues to begin with but I think this was due to my connection (as teamspeak was dropping too).

After I fixed my connection from Wifi to Ethernet, I had only one drop with a friend.

Had one bug where all 3 targets disappeared while the helm and other human fighter continued. Docked back with ship and waited for them to finish off the targets. Didn't run into the problem again (going to check to see if bug has already been reported).

Thought it otherwise worked fine. Had no problems in turrets (was quite enjoyable firing missiles in any direction).

Looking forward to full release.
