AMD RX 6000 series driver issues & workarounds

I've never seen that exit code in relation to this driver issue or DXVK before.

Normally, if there is a problem with either, the game will launch fine, and will either crash while generating planet shaders or get an Orange Sidewinder upon loading the game, and the watchdog will not report a clean exit.

Exit code 3221225477 = 0xC0000005 (Access_Violation). This could be caused by corrupt files, certain antivirus or security settings, or insufficient memory.
I downloaded the game again, disabled antivirus. Same thing.

I strongly assume 22.10.1 does not change anything either?
If the update is still only optional nope..
if its replaced 2.5 as recommended, yep as it means AMD will have abandoned 2.5...
Edit =Nope, its optional some strange app called over watch 2... (must be for Apple Watch users support)

I found how to do it, It shows my current driver as 31.0.12019.16007.
How do I roll back to the specific drive mentioned here. This is 22.5.1. That's a big difference!

This is 22.10.1, probably from Windows Update.

You might need to prevent WIndows Update from automatically installing drivers: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/enabl...vers-with-windows-updates-in-windows-11.2232/

Then uninstall the current driver via device manager and install the 22.5.1 package from here: https://drivers.amd.com/drivers/whql-amd-software-adrenalin-edition-22.5.1-win10-win11-may10.exe

I'm just posting here cause Hardware Survey don't want to send my info while using my 6800 XT . So that Frontier knows there are more users getting affected.
Already did same on AMD forums.

Edit: My problem was not being able to connect to the game servers after driver update.

Sapphire RX6600 8GB: Same problem.
Driver 22.5.1 = no problem
Driver >22.5.1 = planet crash, Orange Sidewinder...No comment!!!

I just returned to Elite Dangerous, approached a planet, and I was greeted by an orange sidewinder, a majestic creature as it is, but I rather not have to deal with it at the moment. Is there any plan to fix this? I own an AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics card as it comes preinstalled in my Alienware system.

Either try the workaround described in the first post of this thread or manually downgrade to adrenaline 22.5.1 which does not have the issue: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-22-5-1 (that's what I did since the workaround did not work for me on first try and I'm too lazy to debug).

For those on Linux, I encountered a problem recently where planet generation was taking 15 minutes every time. I eventually found it was because the amdvlk driver was running instead of radv. On my 6650xt the dxvk hud shows "RADV NAVI23" when radv is running, just "unknown AMD" under amdvlk. I suspect reinstalling the mesa-vulkan packages would fix it in most cases, but I ended up using amdgpu-install --vulkan=pro to get things sorted. It actually reset radv as the primary device while providing the ability to switch to amdvlk at will. Hoping this helps someone, I was hunting everywhere trying to work it out.

"Elite Dangerous may crash upon launch on Radeon™ RX 6000 series GPUs."
It was time.

But..."crash upon launch"...What? :oops::rolleyes:
