Yeah, about to do a deathrun as well. Just it's vs the blobmeister and a wraith. I can wait for day though and the wraith might be gone. Only blobmeister. In the swamp. Sitting on all my gear. But I made a portal nearby - for just these cases.
Got him down to half health, stamina was the main issue and overdoing it until night fell. The wraith caught up while I was frantically trying to down an antidote which also had run out because I was like "just one more hit" for blobmeister.
I thought there was nothing worse than dying to draugrs, then I spent some time in the plains.
OP fulings that spawn camp the teleporter after you die is quite irksome.

Oh I had blobbins and Archer Draug camping my portal base too. Was afraid the blob might jump me but it had wandered off. So I hopped over wall and Draugr chased me while I tried putting on my gear. Longest seconds so far in Valheim.
Was going to post yesterday about how fun the sailing is.
Today I'm stuck in a storm, in a narrow channel with the headwind just off a Swamp / Plains intersection - naked as I'm on my way back to where I lost my main ship to an unintended Plains beaching while trying to find a nice spot to get to Moder. What a game
My guess it is the wrong crypt as already mentioned once the door is unlocked it stays open. I have found the corpse markers to be a bit misleading when they are underground. The best strategy so far is to only mine away one side of the blockage, that way they cannot get out but you can shoot in.
Strangely I got two swamp keys when we killed the boss as a duo.
Update. You guys were right I had the wrong dungeon. The one I died in I had not marked on the map before entering, but my death was marked in between two others that had been marked. A dumb mistake on my part.

I'm presuming you know the pieces colour based upon 'number-of-pieces-to-get-to-ground', red is bad, blue is good etc. You need to have less intermediate pieces I think - core wood poles or stone are good, depending upon how far on you are. I still need to make a Plains base ... probably next ...
Here's something for beginners, people like me, that is. But don't laugh at me, I play as spoilerless as possible, hence my slow progress, plus I'm a coward - especially in Valheim.
Also, a big thanks to everyone who respects my way of playing by using spoiler tags wherever appropriate, I really appreciate it. Nowadays it's not always easy to avoid spoilers, unless you refuse to use the internet at all. For example, I couldn't avoid catching a spoiler about how I would get my first pickaxe. But that is only one of the very few exceptions, but more on that below.
First of all, torches have an interesting alternative use, as the game already hints at in one of its runestones:
The Greylings (spelling?) are actually very afraid of fire and this short clip shows why.
I'm not sure if they are made of it or just carry it in or on them ( maybe in their luggage?), but this resin they leave behind when they die makes them easily inflammable. And that makes a lot of sense, since our torches are made of the same resin. I suspect that the grey dwarfs are also affected, but I'll have a look at that soon.
Some posts ago someone mentioned catching a fish by hand. Sorry, but if you really meant a still living fish I'll strongly doubt it, unless I see it with my own eyes. What I do suspect though, that he was picking up a dead fish instead. This happens sometimes on the shore or in very shallow brooks, but even here it's not always possible, unless...
My first encounter with Eikthyr scared me so much that I didn't dare try again, especially because I didn't know how long he would lurk if I failed again.
But this time I felt the time was ripe, especially after finding and entering my first dungeon (no maps, very creepy!), which also immediately answered the question of where to get enough bone shards (from an early chance encounter with a skeleton in the Black Forest - but outside - I had just 2 or 3 pieces) for the maximum possible upgrade of my leather armour at the moment. By the way, blocking in Valheim seems pretty powerful to me. Anyway, I love my tower shield, even if it slows me down.
Yes, blocking is veryx powerful. It's no secret because when you tooltip shields and weapon the game tells you that there is not only block but parry, too.
There is only one thing I would like to know, because I find it a bit suspicious. In 2 different dungeons, both relatively close to each other, the location(s!) of the same (I suppose the second) boss was revealed, which is called "Der Uralte" in German (could be "The Ageold" or something in English). Anyway, these two locations are far apart and in opposite directions from here. Is this normal or possibly a bug?
Yes, me too. But I'm not sure you've understood me correctly. Two completely different locations were revealed, but they both refer to the same boss. Hence my question whether this is possibly a bug. Or just two alternative ways to awaken the same boss in two different places.
Here is what I mean, 2 places but the same boss:
[/SPOILER]
I have not had that happen to me. I have found the alternative locations by chance while exploring but they do not show on the map at all. Guess it is a bug.
Thanks for the confirmation. Guess it's a trivial bug if nothing strange happens once I trigger him at one of these locations. The interesting question would then be whether the other location will still be active then. But am I generally correct in assuming that each of these bosses can only be defeated once?
I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I love this game and it has kept me away from Elite and the forums for a solid 2 weeks while I was exploring, fighting, dying, retrieving my body and dying again.
Most of my shelters have been ramshackle hovels. I did find something awesome sailing along the coast however that finally inspired me to set down roots. A week later and several voyages later it's mostly done.
Normally I stay clear of the plains when exploring along the coast. Those deathsquitos are nasty. When I happened across a full stone henge it was something I couldn't sail by. I put into a narrow meadows river and stealthed through the plain to check it out. I didn't know what I would build but this would be my future home.
I call it "the hub"; its a portal network incorporated into the standing stones of the henge. Circled in sturdy ramparts with arrows slits. Flanked in spikes and bonfires with a single central tower rising skyward. The construction is finished. Now to start hanging trophies on the walls while I search for the plains boss.

Ah, if you scour the starting island you may stumble on another summon place for the 1st boss. I think it's just to have several places so travels aren't too long. You can always come back and sacrifice your fav boss over and over, too. It's the only way to really get rid of all the deer trophies...
Usually you get but 1 location revealed (nearest) but looks like both are equidistant so you got two.
Our design is similar, but we fixed it to one of the swamp tress, so no Draugr can attack its support. You can use core wood beams to make platforms to move around the swamp nearly undisturbed.

I play Valheim like Elite, avoiding spoilers and how-to-do descriptions - If all I do is follow someone elses instructions, I might just as well watch a video.
Catching living fish with bare hands is possible, but they have to be really close and the window to catch them is very short. [/ispoiler]Just walk into shallow water with fish nearby and wait. First you will scare them away, but they will come back. Patience, and you will catch it. [/ispoiler] Not exactly an efficient way to get food though.

Yes, there is a maximum of intermediate pieces between a solid foundation and the final piece. Stone, no matter its integrity colour, always counts as solid foundation for any wood pieces connected to it (making it blue, and starting the colouring from there). This does not work for iron clad beams - but those allow greater heights anyway, and also count as solid foundation for wood pieces.

This is normal and not a bug. Each boss has I think 3 spawn location, and when you find a rune stone revealing a location it is always one of the possible location (not sure if it is the closest one). You can also stumble upon it by random exploration, we found Molder by chance long before we were able to take it on, it is quite close to our main base.
Edit: My kids and I defeated the first boss today, they did very well, no deaths and now they can't wait to use their new tools in the Black Forest.
Today is the day I killed my first troll! Not that I hunted him, it was rather the other way round. After my far too early and unpleasant encounter with a troll, I had always given these guys a wide berth. Unfortunately, that was not possible this time, because a troll had decided to pay an (unannounced!) visit to my humble abode and make a clear statement about my miserable construction. I had survived the first wave of attacks in a state of fascinated shock. The next day, however, things got even more violent and after he had expertly dismantled the entire front of my barricades, he was suddenly standing in my front garden! Not exactly the fine English way.
I really couldn't let him get away with that any more and since, as the saying goes, a rough wedge belongs on a rough block, I roasted him well with fire arrows - this time with the better end for me. As a reward I got not only a small amount of gold, but also some troll leather, including the building instructions for a complete set of troll armour with a set bonus: 25% more effective for sneak attacks when wearing all 4 pieces. This not only turned me from prey to victim in one fell swoop, now of course I really want to have this set and from now on I'm a troll hunter and no longer a bunny!
The sheer armour value of the bronze armour is clearly better, but that sneak attack bonus is very tempting. And with 2 points less armour value per piece but only half the weight, it should also make me faster, I think, or mean less energy loss when running and would fit perfectly into my hunter career. But first I want this fine bronze axe. Unfortunately, my copper vein has just been exhausted...
The choice of armour is a good one. Light and nimble is good option. Carried me to the swamp and inside it. I entirely skipped bronze armour. I hear some even skip the next tier after that. You did muse about fire and greylings, no? And you know boats? I forbade you to make floats, iirc. So why go in the forest, drudge through stumps and enemies, unwieldy terrain, skelingtons and whatnot - if you can have coastal serenade tour instead? Inspire the locals with favourite songs of Nordic tender spirits, set up camp near the water and join with some good honest earthwork by a campfire. The boat will be near carrying more copper than you alone ever could and you can even shoot the audience that booed on the return leg. All that very leisurely from your boat.
Boat is simply best.
Yes, hunting is nice, but not running with a cart and overburdened. I like the glow of the thistles. Black forest at night is nice. So is boat trip with copper haul. Or tin. Tin is found at shore anyway.
I did even logging "raids" with a better boat. There is always shortage of fine wood and I went in viking style on virgin island. Good fun. I even ravaged a part of undead settlement. I will visit them next "year" again.
